Jay-Z’s NFL Partnership Will Continue Despite Super Bowl 2025 Backlash

Despite all of the controversy currently surrounding Jay-Z and the Super Bowl, the Roc Nation owner will continue to produce the Halftime Show, according to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. Bloomberg reports that Goodell discussed the partnership during the NFL annual owners meeting, which was hosted in Atlanta earlier this week.

Reportedly, he described his relationship with Jay-Z, Roc Nation, and its Chief Executive Officer Desiree Perez as “mutually positive.” He added that everyone involved is content. “I’m not sure either one of us really spend much time talking about contracts,” Goodell also explained. “Jay is happy. Desiree Perez is happy. I’m happy, so we’re all good.”

The terms of the new contract are unknown at the time of writing. Their previous five-year deal that was signed in 2019, however, was reportedly worth $25 million. It’s resulted in a dramatic increase in viewership, with historic performances from Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, and Mary J. Blige in 2022 and Rihanna the following year. Rihanna’s Super Bowl Halftime Show was one of the most-watched in history, with a staggering 118.7 million viewers.

Next year, Kendrick Lamar is scheduled to take the stage, which sparked serious backlash after it was announced last month. Many argue that the opportunity should have gone to Lil Wayne, as the show will take place in his hometown. Lil Wayne even issued a response to the apparent snub, revealing that it “hurt a lot.” What do you think of Jay-Z and the NFL extending their partnership despite the ongoing debate about the 2025 Super Bowl Halftime Show? Are you surprised or not? Share your thoughts in the comments section down below and keep an eye on HNHH for more updates.

Nicki Minaj shared an interview between Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show producer Jesse Collins and Variety, on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday. The legendary rapper’s decision to go with Kendrick Lamar over Lil Wayne has been controversial due to the game being held in New Orleans.

Drake Was Never Asked To Headline The Super Bowl, Source Claims

Last weekend, Kendrick Lamar announced that he’ll be headlining the Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show. The announcement has since prompted mixed reactions from social media users and peers. Many are outraged that the Compton-born performer was chosen over Lil Wayne, as the game will take place in his hometown of New Orleans. Others see it as the cherry on top of an already huge year for Kendrick, who came out victorious in his lyrical battle with Drake.

During a recent episode of New Rory & Mal, however, Mal claimed that Drake has been asked to headline the Super Bowl various times. His revelation left his co-hosts, and most viewers, incredibly skeptical. After all, turning an opportunity like that down on multiple occasions seems odd, as does the fact that this is the first the public is hearing of this.

Mal Claims Drake Turned Down Super Bowl Multiple Times

“I don’t know why he would turn it down,” Mal added. “That’s up to the artist.” According to Bloomberg, however, sources have now shut this rumor down. “It’s a blatant lie,” one of them told the outlet. Reportedly, Drake hasn’t been offered the opportunity a single time in the five years since Jay-Z’s Roc Nation partnered with the NFL. With that being said, Mal also claimed that he spoke to Drake earlier this week. He said that the topic of Kendrick headlining the Super Bowl happened to come up.

Mal didn’t share too many details of what Drake allegedly had to say about it. He did suggest, however, that the Toronto rapper was unfazed by the announcement. “A lot of it was just laughing, man,” Mal said. “It’s just like ‘word this is what y’all want to see? Like, okay.’” What do you think of Bloomberg hearing from sources that Drake hasn’t actually been offered an opportunity to perform at the Super Bowl since the NFL partnered with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation? Juvenile Goes Ballistic On The NFL For Lil Wayne Super Bowl Snub

It’s safe to say that the internet is pretty split on the decision to invite Kendrick Lamar to perform at Super Bowl 59. Drake fans are definitely seething right about now, especially with the potential for him to be dissed on one of the biggest national stages in the world. However, it seems that the majority of the people who disagree with this choice are Lil Wayne fans. With the NFL championship in New Orleans for the third time this century, supporters of his don’t understand the snub.

In just the five days since the reveal, we have seen multiple friends of his speak out against it. Birdman, Weezy’s daughter Reginae Carter, Master P, and and Cam’ron are just a few. Now, you can add fellow Hot Boys member Juvenile to that growing list. According to a repost from The Shade Room, the “Back That Azz Up” songwriter took to social media to share his passionate thoughts.

A post shared by The Shade Room (@theshaderoom)

Instead of calling out JAY-Z and Roc Nation, Juvenile takes aim at the NFL and its controversial commissioner, Roger Goodell. “My hatred is toward the NFL”, he begins. “I feel like y’all should step in. Y’all have yet to put a hip-hop artist from New Orleans on the damn Super Bowl. I feel like every time y’all come here y’all should have someone from our city on it”. He continues, “But this time it hard when you don’t have Lil Wayne… I don’t see how the f*** y’all don’t have Lil Wayne doin’ the Halftime Show. Somebody that has a whole bunch of f***ing hits, and somebody that really deserves it, and somebody that can bring out multiple artists of all genres”. Juvenile signs off with a warning, saying, “So this goes out to you Roger Goodell. You comin’ into our city, suckin’ up our culture, and makin’ up all of this money… and leavin’ us dry… Gotta stop”.

What are your thoughts on Juvenile’s rant on the NFL being the one to blame for Lil Wayne’s Super Bowl snub? Do you think the commissioner will do anything about this? Are people’s frustrations about this decision to have Kendrick Lamar as the performer valid, why or why not? We would like to hear what you have to say, so leave your thoughts in the comments. Kendrick Lamar Announced He’ll Perform At The Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show

The first Sunday of the 2024 NFL season featured some big news about Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans. It has nothing to do with the teams that will end up participating with the Lombardi Trophy on the line, but instead, we now know who will perform in the halftime show.

Kendrick Lamar announced on Sunday via his social media channels and his YouTube page that he will take the stage during halftime of the biggest football game of the year. In the video, which you can see at the top of the post, Lamar feeds footballs into a JUGS machine in front of an oversized American flag before addressing viewers.

“You ready?” Lamar asks. “Exactly. What’s the deal everybody? My name’s Kendrick Lamar, and I’ll be performing at Super Bowl LIX. Will you be pulling up? I hope so. You know there’s only one opportunity to win a championship, no round twos, let’s get it. BOOM. I wouldn’t want you to miss it — meet me in New Orleans, Feb. 9, 2025. Wear your best dress, too, even if you’re watching from home. Let’s go.”

This will not be the first time that Lamar takes the stage at the Super Bowl, as he was part of Dr. Dre’s star-studded halftime show at Super Bowl LVI in Los Angeles.
