Adrian Peterson Refutes Reports Of Financial Woes, Threatens Lawsuit

Adrian Peterson has disputed reports that he is selling trophies and memorabilia from his storied NFL career due to financial troubles. Peterson said he is bank account was “just fine” in a video posted to social media. Reports had suggested that Peterson was selling items such as his 2007 Rookie of the Year trophy and his 2012 MVP trophy. Further reports suggested that was tied to a court-ordered $8.3M payment for a 2021 loan default. However, Peterson claims that the memorabilia was stolen by a company he contracted to handle it and is threatening to file a lawsuit.

Peterson last played in the NFL in 2021 but has not officially retired at this time. In 2022, he appeared in a boxing exhibition with Le’Veon Bell, in which he lost via knockout. That same year, he named the Rams, Bills, and 49ers as the three teams he would want to be signed with. However, at 38, it is likely that Peterson has played his final NFL game.

Born in Texas, Adrian Peterson was a standout prospect. He crossed the Red River for college, joining Bob Stoops’ Sooners’ program in Norman. After three stellar seasons, Peterson was taken seventh overall in 2007. Joining the Vikings, Peterson quickly became the prototypical running back of his era. However, his rise wasn’t without controversy. He was accused of child abuse for allegedly beating his young son. However, Peterson continued to play at an exceptionally high level. As mentioned, he captured Rookie of the Year in 2007 and the rare non-QB MVP title in 2012.

However, Peterson quickly found himself on the outside looking in after leaving Minnesota in 2016. He played for the Cardinals and Saints in 2017 before finding some stability with two seasons with the Commanders. After a year with the Lions, Peterson’s career ended with a split season in Tennessee and Seattle. Peterson currently holds the record for most running yards in a single game with 296.

Chiefs Super Bowl Parade Shooting: Two Juveniles Charged

Police in Kansas City have charged two juveniles with gun-related charges and resisting arrest in relation to the mass shooting at the Chiefs Super Bowl parade earlier this week. As both individuals are minors, the proceedings will be closed to the public. The two individuals comprised a trio of individuals who were initially detained after the shooting on Valentine’s Day.

More information is also emerging about the fallout of the incident. One person died and 22 were injured, including 11 children. The local fire chief said that eight people were critically injured and seven were in serious condition. However, Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas, who was in attendance, said there were no plans to cancel the upcoming St. Patrick’s Parade. “We have parades all the time. I don’t think they’ll end. Certainly, we recognized the public safety challenges and issues that relate to them,” Lucas said.

Meanwhile, Taylor Swift has reportedly donated $100,000 to a GoFundMe set up to support the family of late Kansas City radio host Lisa Lopez-Galvan. Lopez-Galvan was killed when a trio of individuals opened fire at the Chiefs Super Bowl parade earlier this week. “Sending my deepest sympathies and condolences in the wake of your devastating loss. With love, Taylor Swift,” a note on the donation read. Before taking the stage for an Eras Tour show in Melbourne, Swift’s team confirmed to Billboard that it was a legitimate donation from the swinger.

A New York Times report about Travis Kelce’s haircut becoming a viral trend has left several prominent Black media members unhappy with how Kelce is being portrayed. “The NYT thinks that Travis Kelce invented the fade . When you have zero cultural competency on your staff, this is how you end up with stories like this, and explaining swag surfin,’ which is at least 15 or years old,” wrote journalist Jemele Hill on X.

As Hill noted, The Times referred to “The Fade”, a staple of Black fashion since it first grew to popularity in the militarized culture of the 1940s and 50s, as “The Travis Kelce”. Cultural markers do grow and adopt. And maybe it’s unreasonable for a 14-year-old Chiefs fan to know it’s a fade and not the Kelce. However, the 172-year-old New York Times should absolutely know better.

O.J. Simpson Reportedly Diagnosed With Cancer

O.J. Simpson has reportedly been diagnosed with prostate cancer and is undergoing chemotherapy to combat it. However, the infamous former NFL player had publicly denied the reports and denies being in poor health. Furthermore, Simpson reportedly plans to host a large Super Bowl party in Las Vegas and laughed off the idea that he was in hospice care.

Despite this, it’s not the first time that reports of cancer have been attached to Simpson’s name. In 2023, Simpson posted a video in which he claimed to have “caught cancer” and was in remission. It is unclear if these new reports of a diagnosis are related to that previous report.

Born in 1947, OJ is a man of two tales. First is the story of a star athlete who helped redefine American football. A retired jersey at USC, two First Team All-Pac-8 honors, and a Heisman Trophy are the defining marks of his college career. The first overall pick in 1969, Simpson became the prototypical running back of his era. He had five 1000-yard rushing seasons in Buffalo, including a 2000-yard season in 1973, when he also won MVP. However, he would end his career in 1979 after two seasons with 49ers. He left football for the world of endorsements and acting, and became an even bigger star throughout the 1980s.

However, the 90s would bring with it the side of Simpson’s legacy. In 1994, Simpson’s ex-wife Nicole Brown was found stabbed to death alongside a friend at her home in Brentwood. Simpson became an immediate person of interest in the case due to his alleged history of abuse with Brown. However, he would be found not guilty of the murders in 1996 thanks to a legal team that included the father of Kim Kardashian. Despite this, Simpson would later be found liable in civil court and would go on to spend nine years in prison on an armed robbery charge.
