Eminem Continues To Cheer On Detroit Lions Amid Playoff Success

Eminem was back in attendance at Ford Field for the Detroit Lions’ win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday in the Divisional Round of the NFL Playoffs. The broadcast caught the iconic rapper screaming in celebration while watching the game from a skybox in the stadium.

It was a tightly contested game throughout with the Lions winning 31-23 after Bucs’ quarterback Baker Mayfield threw an interception on his team’s final drive. It’s the second time in the franchise’s history that they’ll compete in the NFC Championship.

Eminem previously made an offer to coach Dan Campbell to suit up for the team if they need him on Sunday. “Yo, Dan, I’m reporting. I’m going to report. Third quarter,” he joked in a video on Instagram, earlier in the week. “I’m reporting, offensive line, eligible receiver. I’ll be the quarterback, the entire line, (the) offensive line. With the win, the Lions advance to the NFC Championship game where they’ll take on the 49ers in San Francisco for an opportunity to play in the Super Bowl. Lions Earn Biggest Playoff Betting Line In Team History

The Lions have earned their largest playoff betting line in team history as they opened as -6.5 favorites over the Tampa Buccaneers. The previous franchise record was -4 favorites against Dallas in 1970, a game that the Lions would lose 5-0. Sports betting was legalized in Nevada in 1949. “They haven’t been favorites in the playoffs for sure, but they haven’t been in the playoffs that much. The team has just not had many opportunities,” DraftKings director of race and sports operations Johnny Avello told ESPN.

The Lions held off a late comeback from their former QB, Matthew Stafford, to beat the Rams and win their first playoff game since 1991. It capped off an already historic season as head coach Dan Campbell led the team back to the playoffs for the first time since 2016 and their first double-digit wins season since 2014. Jared Goff, acquired from the Rams in 2021, was sensational – throwing for 4575 yards and 30 touchdowns. After taking down Los Angeles, Campbell was heard telling Goff, “You’re f-cking good enough for Detroit, Jared”.

Not only is this the first road playoff game of Mahomes’ career, but it’s also just his second trip to Buffalo. The Chiefs and Bills met at Orchard Park during the 2020 season. However, they played in front of an open stadium due to COVID restrictions. The teams other five matchups since Mahomes and Josh Allen entered the league have all taken place at Arrowhead Stadium.

Bills Versus Chiefs: What To Know

Both the Bills and Chiefs finished the season 11-6 but in very different ways. The Bills finished on a six-game winning streak, which started with a win over Kansas City. Meanwhile, after starting 7-3, the Chiefs struggled to find a consistent offensive rhythm in the back half of the season. While they appeared to regain their momentum against the short-handed Dolphins in the Wild Card round, the white-hot Bills are going to be a different challenge entirely.

Eminem was in attendance during the Detroit Lions’ first playoff win in 32 years on Sunday night. The team advanced through the wild card round of the playoffs with a 24-23 win over the Los Angeles Rams. The quarterbacks for both teams were traded for one another back in 2021.

Eminem asked the Lions’ former quarterback to let his old team get the win in a video posted to NBC’s Sunday Night Football social pages on Saturday. “Stafford, what’d I say? You owe me this favor, bro,” Eminem said. “I was there for you when you won it. I was there for you, I was right there, I rapped for you Stafford. Bro, I rapped for you! He’s leading an offense that’s playing at a really good clip right now and they should be proud of him. They should be cheering for him.”

Leaving Arrowhead Stadium hand-in-hand was one of the first public images that confirmed that they were a couple. However, Swift later revealed to TIME that they had been seeing each other for several weeks before that.

The Chiefs earned an easy victory over Miami. Meanwhile, the game turned out to be one of the coldest playoff games in NFL history. The game-time temperature was -4 degrees, with an additional wind chill of -22 degrees. That didn’t stop the Chiefs, who cruised to a 26-7 victory. Tua Tagavailoa was held to less than 200 passing yards as the Chiefs defense smothered every avenue of attack for Miami. The Chiefs will face the winner of Bills-Steelers.

Chiefs Wait On Opponent As Bills-Steelers Postponed

However, the Chiefs will have to wait on that winner. Steelers at Bills, originally scheduled for January 13 at 1pm will now be played on January 15 at 4:30pm. “Now, you may see clear skies [Sunday] morning, but don’t be fooled. With a shelter-in-place order active, the Bills will not be able to address the several feet of snow expected at Highmark Stadium. Furthermore, the team has asked any fans who can safely make it to the stadium on Sunday to help the team shovel snow ahead of Monday. However, this is a regular and long-standing occurrence for the Bills. The team is offering $20 an hour and complimentary food for anyone willing to help.

Bills-Steelers Postponed To Monday, Chiefs-Dolphins To Go Ahead Despite Wind Chill

The first playoff game of 2024, Steelers at Bills, will be postponed until Monday due to heavy snow expected in Buffalo on Saturday. The game, originally scheduled for January 13 at 1pm will now be played on January 15 at 4:30pm. “Now, you may see clear skies [Sunday] morning, but don’t be fooled. The bull’s-eye of the storm is predicted to hit midday Sunday afternoon right during the scheduled Buffalo Bills game. [The game will] continue to be played at Highmark Field right in Orchard Park. It’s all part of our critical efforts to keep New Yorkers, motorists and fans safe from this wildly unpredictable storm,” New York Kathy Hochul said in a public address.

However, Chiefs-Dolphins will go ahead despite reports that the wind chill could reach as low as -30 degrees in Kansas City. “There are no public safety travel concerns for getting to the stadium for fans, the clubs, stadium personnel or public authorities,” an NFL source told ESPN. The NFL has been in touch with both teams’ medical staffs and will be prepped to combat the cold weather.

However, both the Chiefs and Dolphins are not worrying about the cold. “No one likes being cold. That’s why we have temperature control. However, it does make the moment bigger when you know that it is an absolute fact that it’s going to be frigid. Well, what if as a team, you find a way for it to not affect you? To be able to go and do athletic performance in that weather, it takes will. That will comes from a passion that is deep down that has been derived while a lot of these guys started playing the game that you’re unlocking,” Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniels said. The Chiefs are favored by 4.5 points, according to ESPN Bet.

There is one other playoff game scheduled for January 13. However, it will not be affected by the weather thanks to its Texan venue. Houston hosts Cleveland in a curious matchup of two teams who have roared back to relevancy. The Browns are two-point favorites, the first time that the team has been favorites in a playoff game since 1994.
