NFL Prospect Injured In Fatal Crash

A future NFL Draft prospect is now just hoping to overcome injuries sustained in a fatal accident. Louisiana wide receiver Michael Jefferson is recovering from an incident in which his vehicle collided with another on Monday night. According to TMZ, the incident occurred in Mobile, Alabama. Unfortunately, the driver of the vehicle involved in the crash with Jefferson has passed away. According to the police report, the driver of the other vehicle was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Jefferson’s talents on the field had his name high on many draft boards. The Louisiana receiver is considered one of the top 30 best available receivers in this year’s upcoming draft. However, with recent events, Jefferson’s journey to play football professional football may take a haunting detour. The incident involving Jefferson is a terrifying reminder that nothing in life is guaranteed. There has been no word on the specifics of Jefferson’s injuries. But according to NFL insider Adam Schefter, the star receiver has required multiple surgeries.

NFL Prospect Michael Jefferson In Serious Condition

Jefferson’s career was one that everyone had an eye on. According to TMZ, “Jefferson, who began his college career at Alabama State, was a star Louisiana last season — logging 51 catches for 810 yards and seven TDs. He showed up to the combine in Indianapolis last month and performed well, running a 4.56 40-yard dash.” Those numbers and speed are something that would have for sure caught the eye of scouts around the league.

Jefferson’s NFL dreams may have to be on hold for the time being. However, his health is the most important thing right now. The draft is just mere days away, and a story like this is hard to fathom. Fans of Louisiana’s football program will rally around Jefferson and his family during this trying time. There has been no word on how the horrifying accident transpired on Monday night. The only thing that we can shift our focus on is hoping the medical professionals tending to Jefferson can help him overcome such a tragedy. Multiple Teams Pursuing Trade With Cardinals

The NFL Draft is rapidly approaching. On April 27, the NFL will descend on Kansas City as teams attempt to find their next stars. The 2023 draft is especially exciting due to its deep talent pool across multiple positions and the plethora of veteran stars who retired, opening roster spots for young talent.

There has already been plenty of movement at the top of the draft. Most notably, the Chicago Bears traded the first overall pick to the Carolina Panthers. It was the first time since 2016 that the first overall pick changed hands. With the move, a quarterback will almost certainly be the first player off the board. However, who is picked, and other trades could be coming, is a complete mystery.

“At Least Six” Teams Want Third Overall Pick

The Arizona Cardinals are looking to reload around franchise quarterback Kyler Murray. They currently hold the third overall pick, as well as seven other picks in the draft. Newly appointed head coach Jonathan Gannon will want to hit the ground running. While most mock drafts have the Cardinals drafting one of the generational defensive talents available, sources have told ESPN that at least six teams have inquired about trading with Arizona. With the draft as it is, the Cardinals could afford to drop back and still grab a defensive stud, along with added draft capital.

However, the question remains – who are these mystery teams? It’s likely that most, if not all, six teams are in need of a quarterback. Four highly touted quarterback prospects are expected to be drafted in the first round, if not the top ten picks. That would point to teams like the Raiders, Lions, and Titans. However, it could also be a defensive trade from a team like the Colts. The Colts currently hold the fourth overall pick and despite the Cardinals unlikely to go quarterback, the Colts could lose out on their preferred QB if a team leapfrogs them. However, fans shouldn’t expect a decision anytime soon. The Cardinals could take the decision all the way until they’re on the clock before pulling the trigger on a trade.

Ravens GM Makes Shocking Draft Statement

One of the biggest questions about the 2023 NFL season is who will be lining up under center for the Baltimore Ravens. It is appearing more and more likely that Lamar Jackson will not be QB1 in Baltimore, especially after revealing he had requested a trade. However, while Jackson must operate within the confines of the non-exclusive franchise tag the Ravens placed on him, the official stance of the team is that Jackson was their QB1 going forwards.

However, that all appears to have changed thanks to a statement from Ravens General Manager Eric DeCosta. It’s no secret that 2023 features a stacked draft class at quarterback. Many experts predict that four quarterbacks will be picked in the top 10, if not the top 5. However, the positional class extends beyond the likes of C.J. Stroud, Bryce Young, Will Levis, and Anthony Richardson. Players like Hendon Hooker, Tanner McKee, Max Duggan, and Stetson Bennett are all viewed as early-to-mid-round picks. But DeCosta’s comments to the media on Wednesday may have completely changed the draft.

Ravens Not Afraid To Take QB

The Ravens’ pre-draft press conference on Wednesday afternoon was a tale of two stories. While the team representatives refused to answer any direct questions about Lamar Jackson’s status with the team, GM Eric DeCosta did give one eye-opening answer when asked if the Ravens would consider going quarterback in the first round. “It depends on the board, it really does,” DeCosta said. “I mean, I’d have to say yes because we have quarterbacks in our top 31. So just based on that alone, simple math, I would have to say yes.”

However, Ravens fans should not take DeCosta’s admission as a concrete sign that the team is moving on from Lamar. The Ravens hold the 22nd pick in the first round and just five picks across the entire draft. That does not give them a lot of capital to trade up with if they wanted to aggressively pursue the quarterback position. Furthermore, DeCosta also highlighted both wide receivers and cornerbacks, both positions of need for the Ravens, as potential targets. “You know us…we love corners” DeCosta said. But with the team going on record to say that quarterback is not off the table, the Lamar Jackson saga is seemingly far from over.

SOURCE SPORTS: All-Pro Reciever AJ Brown Traded to the Eagles

AJ Brown shocked the NFL and NFL Draft by getting traded from the Tennessee Titians to the Philadelphia Eagles. After the Eagles moved up in the draft to select Defensive Tackle Jordan Davis with the 13th pick, the Eagles shocked the NFL by landing the All-Pro Brown via a trade with the Titans.

Not only that, but the Eagles have already signed the Pro Bowl wideout to a four-year, $100 million extension with $57 million guaranteed, per NFL Media, as they secured a new top target for the long term.

In exchange for Brown, the Titans received the No. 18 overall pick, which they used on potential Brown successor Treylon Burks from Arkansas, and the Eagles’ No. 101 pick, a third-rounder.

The Titians were the number 1 seed in the AFC last season with the help of Brown. Ultimately, the Titians didn’t want to give Brown a huge payday, so they traded him and, for all-purpose, drafted his replacement in a draft loaded with wide receivers.

The Eagles now have a go-to receiver that quarterback Jalen Hurst can rely on. Both Hurts and Brown are close friends who work out together regularly, so the Eagles stuck gold here, especially if they plan on building around Hurts long term. Brown is that big receiver the Eagles’ offense needed, and alongside DeVonta Smith, it will pose a big problem for defenses this season.
