Shannon Sharpe Reacts To LeBron’s Scoring Record

Shannon Sharpe has been one of LeBron James’ biggest supporters over the last few years. Whenever he goes on Undisputed, he is defending James’ honor against Skip Bayless. Overall, Sharpe and LeBron have developed into great friends, and they continue to support one another. This has been especially true over the last few months. Mostly, this is because of the fact that LeBron has been chasing the NBA’s all-time scoring record. Although this record has been held for 39 years, James was on the verge of breaking it last night.

Subsequently, Shannon made sure to attend the Lakers’ match against the Oklahoma City Thunder last night. Going into this game, LeBron was 36 points away from the record. Most people felt as though he would break the record on Thursday. However, James clearly had other plans as he shattered the record by the end of the third quarter. Overall, it was a truly incredible accomplishment that was celebrated by everyone on the floor. For LeBron and everyone in attendance, this was an incredibly emotional moment that will never be forgotten.

Shannon Sharpe Speaks

During today’s episode of Undisputed, Shannon Sharpe was able to give his entire reaction to LeBron’s record. In the clip above, Sharpe went in-depth on why this is so impressive. Firstly, Sharpe noted that it is LeBron’s longevity that will never be matched. Secondly, Sharpe believes that LeBron has yet to fall off from his game. Although he may not be getting better, he certainly isn’t getting any worse. Additionally, Sharpe explained how averaging 27 points per game over a 20-year career is something that ought to be celebrated for years to come.

On the flip side of this, his broadcast partner Skip Bayless isn’t going to be crowning LeBron as the GOAT anytime soon. However, Bayless did note that this record is the ultimate testament to LeBron’s longevity. What James has been able to do is impressive, and even though Skip is a hater, he can’t deny what LeBron has done here. Hopefully, James can eventually get to 40,000 points and beyond before his career is over.

Shaq & Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Share Heartfelt Exchange

Shaq and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar are two of the greatest centers to ever play in the NBA. Overall, they are considered to be top five players in the history of the league, although Kareem more so than Shaq. Either way, there is no doubt that these two men are legends in their own right. They both played for the Lakers, and they both won a ton of championships with the franchise. However, there was seemingly this sense that Kareem and Shaq had beef during his time in L.A. It was one of those narratives that could never be confirmed, although it certainly weighed on the big man.

As for Kareem, he was in Los Angeles last night as he watched LeBron try and break his scoring record. James was just 36 points away from the record, and fans were skeptical as to whether or not he would do it. In the end, however, James was able to come through with a special game. He managed to tally 38 points and broke the record at the end of the third quarter. As you can imagine, it was a very special moment in the arena.

Shaq & Kareem Speak

Following the match, Shaq and Kareem got to speak together as part of a post-game segment on TNT. During this segment, Kareem addressed Shaq and revealed to him that he never meant to diss him during his time with the Lakers. In fact, Kareem praised the NBA legend for his dominance during that era. Subsequently, Shaq gave some praise right back to The Captain, making for a very sweet moment between the two. Kareem even told Shaq to continue representing the beautiful game. Overall, if you are a Lakers fan, you couldn’t help but be touched by this moment.

Abdul-Jabbar is now second on the all-time scoring list, which is going to be hard to get used to. For decades, Kareem held a record that many thought would never be broken. Now, however, LeBron holds the title and he will likely hold that record for decades as well. By the time everything is said and done, James could have upwards of 42-45,000 points.

If you are a fan of Kyrie’s, it was probably tough to watch, and for Nets fans, it’s been even worse. Consequently, Irving asked the team for a trade, and the Nets capitulated.

Kyrie is now a member of the Dallas Mavericks. This was a gutsy trade by the Mavericks as it could end up being a disaster. Although, Mark Cuban seems very excited about this new opportunity. He understands that Kyrie can help Luka Doncic win games, and it will be fun to watch them in action. Moreover, Kyrie was in Dallas today as he completed his first practice with the team. Additionally, he also spoke to the media for the very first time.

Kyrie Speaks

During his talks with the media, Irving made some very interesting comments. In fact, he even spoke about his time in Brooklyn and how the franchise made him feel disrespected. Everyone talks about what I’m doing off the floor.” Subsequently, Kyrie was asked about LeBron’s desire to have him on the Lakers. As one can imagine, Irving was quite flattered.

Stephen A. Smith Hits Lakers With Russell Westbrook Advice

Stephen A. Smith has had to talk a lot about the Lakers this season. Ever since trading for Russell Westbrook last year, this team has been a mess. Overall, Russ has not been the point guard he once was. Additionally, his shooting has been horrific, and it even led to him being demoted to the bench. Needless to say, this is not what the Lakers bargained for. Consequently, it has led to all sorts of trade talks that have gone nowhere. Every week, it feels as though there is some brand-new rumor pertaining to Russ. At this juncture, however, the Lakers have yet to make a move.

Over the weekend, the Lakers thought they were going to get Kyrie Irving. After demanding a trade from the Brooklyn Nets, he seemed primed and ready for the Lakers. However, the Dallas Mavericks swooped in with a better offer, much to the dismay of Lakers fans. Now, there are renewed talks about Westbrook and whether or not he should be moved. On today’s episode of First Take, Smith offered his voice to that debate.

Stephen A. The Advisor

As you can see in the clip above, Stephen A. believes it is imperative that the Lakers keep Westbrook on the roster. This is because if they trade him, they could very well bring in pieces that mess with their cap space. However, if they keep Russ, they can let him walk in the offseason. Moreover, LeBron has already stated that the team is going to be just fine. In an interview with Michael Wilbon, the Lakers superstar made it clear that he thinks the team can make a deep run if healthy. Having said that, Smith thinks it is a good plan to just keep the roster as is.

For Lakers fans, this is the last thing they wanted to hear. For months, they have been calling for a Westbrook trade, and now, analysts are claiming they should keep things status quo. Although, it is ultimately up to Rob Pelinka in terms of what the Lakers will do a couple of days from now. Let us know what you want the purple and gold to do, in the comments below. Now, his whole reason for being in Brooklyn in the first place has left. Considering the fact that KD demanded a trade back in the summer, one could assume he would do this all over again. Overall, it would be absolutely disastrous to the Nets franchise. Regardless, they did a bad job of managing assets, and now, it could set them back for the next decade.

Kevin Durant Strategizes

According to Adrian Wojnarowski, Kevin Durant has officially begun meetings with the Brooklyn Nets. Mostly, it seems like these meetings are to discuss the future of the team. Additionally, there is no sense that a trade is going to be made, anytime soon. However, that could certainly change if Durant is not happy with what he’s hearing. For now, though, Nets fans should take a deep breath as KD appears to be staying.
