The Alchemist Taps Earl Sweatshirt, Larry June & More On “Flying High”

The Alchemist remains one of the most prolific producers of our time. Over the years, he’s teamed up with a number of elite MCs to produce their projects in their entirety. However, when it comes time for him to serve up his own body of work, these same artists always come through for him. Last December, he released The Alchemist Sandwich, a 10 song album with features from Westside Gunn, Conway, ScHoolboy Q, and Earl Sweatshirt, among others.

This morning (June 30), the super producer doubled back with his newly released effort, Flying High. The eight-song project includes four original songs and their instrumentals. Earl Sweatshirt and Billy Woods join forces on “RIP Tracy.” Then, Alc pairs T.F. and Boldy James on “Trouble Man.” Other features on the project include MIKE, Sideshow, Jay Worthy, and Larry June. If you’re looking for top-tier rapping and equally impressive production, you have to press play on Flying High.

The Alchemist Returns

Flying High marks The Alchemist’s first solo release of the year but second overall. In March, the producer linked up with Larry June for the release of The Great Escape, which remains one of the better hip-hop projects of the year. The Great Escape perfectly paired The Alchemist’s ethereal style of production with June’s laidback flow, along with features from Big Sean, Ty Dolla $ign, Curren$y, Joey Bada$$, Action Bronson, and more.

While Alc’ continues to play a major role behind the scenes, he actually made a brief return to rapping earlier this year. For Hit-Boy’s latest album, Surf Or Drown, the two producers swapped beats and dropped a few bars. It marked the first time in a long time that we’ve heard Alchemist get back into his rapping roots in a minute. Although he doesn’t come through with any bars on Flying High, his production prowess shines across the project. Press play above and let us knw your favorite song in the comments below.

Father Delivers Melodic And Chill Vibes On “Hu$band 2” EP

Father is an artist who has always experimented with various styles. Moreover, he is someone who has been very consistent with his string of releases. For instance, in 2022 we got Young Hot Ebony 2. From there, we got Come Outside, We Not Gone Jump You in 2020. This is a project that featured Zack Fox, who has been a frequent collaborator with Father over the years. Another great project we got from him was back in 2019. The project in question was the Hu$band EP which contained six tracks.

Well, four years later, Father has come back with a follow-up. Appropriately, this new project is called Hu$band 2. Once again, the project contains six new tracks. Overall, this is the perfect length for an EP, and there is no doubt that fans are going to be stoked for the new material. Upon listening to this project, you will immediately recognize that he is going for a stripped-back vibe here. There are some really chilled out production choices here, and Father’s voice sounds fantastic.

Father Has Returned

If you listen to the song “Vodka Me Down,” you may get some references to “Vodka On The Weekend.” Overall, this is a track that Father worked on with iLoveMakonnen. Moreover, songs like “Sanctuary” are meant to be an homage to the artist’s love of video games. As he explains, the song resembles Diabo IV and  “a feeling of looming death as it’s being delivered from a knight on pale horse.” If you are a big fan of Father and have been waiting on new music, then this project is going to be a must-listen.

Young Thug’s “BUSINESS IS BUSINESS,” Metro Boomin Version, Is Here

Young Thug and Metro Boomin are here to show us that business isn’t done, and there’s still more heat to come from the former’s latest album, executive produced by the latter. Moreover, the two just released BUSINESS IS BUSINESS (Metro’s Version) as a surprise drop, featuring some changes to the original. At first glance, the most notable ones are the additions of Juice WRLD and Nicki Minaj on the new track “Money.” Also, another big change is the added track “Sake Of My Kids,” which closes off this interpretation of the project. Finally, there’s the tracklist as a whole, which rearranges the order of its previously released material.

For example, now the gorgeous and heartfelt “Jonesboro” starts the album off. Metro Boomin even explained some of the logic behind these shifts on Twitter, stating that this is his original version of BUSINESS IS BUSINESS‘s sequencing. Still, it opens up a conversation around which order of the songs you prefer, as they both have their standout choices. “Uncle M” and “Want Me Dead” pair well as two of the more menacing cuts on the album. On the other hand, if you’re a Travis Scott fan, you might prefer his back-to-back-to-back features on “Wit Da Racks,” “Uncle M” (as a sample and added vocals), and “Abracadabra” on the original version.

BUSINESS IS BUSINESS By Young Thug, Reimagined & Expanded By Metro Boomin

Meanwhile, we have to mention the two new tracks: “Money” and “Sake Of My Kids.” As teased, Nicki Minaj comes through with some sharp bars and Juice WRLD floats over a banging sample-heavy beat on “Money.” “Sake Of My Kids” is a more measured but nonetheless engaging cut with classic Thug energy. Overall, this is a small but welcome reimagination of BUSINESS IS BUSINESS that doesn’t stale out with its added tracks, and shows the world that Thugger is still making a huge impact on the game despite his circumstances. Find the new version on your preferred streaming service, peep the altered tracklist below, and stick around on HNHH for the latest news on Metro Boomin and Young Thug.

Boosie Badazz Has Triumphant “First Day Back” With New Album

To everyone’s surprise, Boosie Badazz is not only back after a brief stint in jail, but he’s also back to dropping music immediately. Moreover, he just released First Day Back, a ten-track album that, in some pockets, fits the vibe of someone who just got his freedom. Of course, it’s unclear how much of this album was recorded and mixed before his incarceration, but it’s still the same old Baton Rouge MC that you know. For example, his vocal performances here are as nasal and expressive as ever, shifting between passionate singing and aggressive verses. When he got out of jail, he already celebrated plenty on IG Live, and odds are he has a lot more to celebrate now.

“He’s baaaaack!” Boosie started off his first Instagram Live after release from jail, where he ended up after being arrested on federal gun charges. “I wan’ thank God. I got chairs on my knees, I been praying so much. My family, all the prayer warriors who came to San Diego to support me. Yeah, Boosie Boo. Yeah! BET, I need three tickets. I go to BET Awards [on June 25] but I gotta go to my attorneys. That’s me! I’m back! Boosie Boo! That’s me! I’m back! I’m drivin’ the jeep. First day back. Prussia! You can get a ride now. But BET, I need three tickets. I need a haircut. Oh man, I’m outta breath already. Boosie’s baaaaaack!”

Key Glock Unveils Eight New Tracks On “Glockoma 2 (Deluxe)”

Memphis rapper Key Glock has dropped off a new, deluxe edition of his 2023 LP Glockoma 2. Glockoma 2 (Deluxe) follows the original’s release in February, as well as the 2018 release of the series’ first installment, Glockoma. Earlier this week, Key Glock shared his single from the album, “Presidential Rolex,” alongside an accompanying music video.

He packs a punch with Glockoma 2 (Deluxe), providing fans with eight new tracks on the Tay Keith-produced LP. It notably includes zero guest features, as referenced on the track “F*ck A Feature.” After dropping Glockoma 2, he toured in support of the album alongside TiaCorine, Kenny Muney, and Jay Fizzle. I got incarcerated. And then close to the time for me to come home, my auntie was married to Young Dolph’s uncle. She told him, ‘You know, Key doing his thing… He just reached out to me and it went from there.”

The rapper went on to discuss his own personal philosophy, explaining how, “No matter what it was. Music or just everything in life,” he goes by his own rules. He continued, telling the outlet, “You know, I don’t mean to disrespect anybody. It’s just how I move. Play by my own rules.”

Mac Miller’s “Watching Movies With The Sound Off” 10th Anniversary Edition Is Here

On June 18, 2013, Mac Miller released his second studio album, and the one that arguably marked his first major mainstream evolution as an artist. Of course, true fans will credit earlier projects like Macadelic with that achievement, but for many, Watching Movies With The Sound Off was the Pittsburgh MC’s true next step. Moreover, those who love his music or just respect him as a one-of-a-kind artist celebrated the album’s tenth anniversary online. Now, they have another way to fully celebrate this landmark LP, with his estate and Rostrum Records releasing a special edition of Watching Movies for its tenth birthday. Still, there’s few edits and tweaks to make to an album that was already beloved on impact.

First, let’s start with what’s new on Watching Moves With The Sound Off‘s tenth anniversary edition. The original version of the tone-setting album opener, “The Star Room,” appears at the end of the album’s tracklist (including bonus songs). On it, the most notable difference is the different vocal takes and the different interpretation of the beat. In comparison to the version released in 2013, the instrumental and sample flip is much moodier and more meditative for Mac Miller’s flow to ride.

Mac Miller’s Watching Movies 10th Anniversary Edition’s OG Version Of “The Star Room”

In addition, Mac’s alternate persona Delusional Thomas doesn’t appear on the OG version of “The Star Room,” a character represented by the more high-pitched vocals. Also, the original recording features some brief words from Earl Sweatshirt, which are a subtle but welcome addition, especially considering that their collab “I’m Not Real” appears shortly after in the tracklist. Finally, the special edition’s vinyl (which you can find here) contains an exclusive track from Mac Miller titled “The Quest.” Other than that, it’s the same Watching Movies you know and love from the late legend.

Meanwhile, the artist’s posthumous catalog remains respectfully limited outside of album reissues, although Madlib recently said that Maclib is coming soon. As such, there will be much more Mac to celebrate, whether for his unearthed gems or his forever enduring catalog. On that note, you can find Watching Movies With The Sound Off‘s 10th anniversary edition on your preferred streaming service. There isn’t another rapper this year who had as eventful of an album rollout at Top5. The Toronto rapper is currently locked up as he awaits trial for first-degree murder. Still, even while incarcerated, he’s managed to rattle the music industry. Just a week ago, he claimed responsibility for jacking DJ Drama’s chain during a club appearance in Toronto. Still, his charges nor his antics have hindered his reach in the music industry, especially as he built anticipation for his next project.

This morning, Top5 finally came through with his latest album, Pedro Activated, released through GGG, 6ixbuzz Ent., and Create Music Group. The 16-song effort is stacked to the brim with features from some of the hottest names in hip-hop. Young Thug Releases New Album “Business Is Business”

This week, Young Thug has been gearing up for the release of his latest album, titled Business Is Business. Unfortunately, the circumstances surrounding the album’s release are unfortunate for the rapper. He has been in prison for over a year. As many know, this is due to charges of racketeering and conspiracy connected to his YSL collective, which prosecutors consider a gang organization. As a result, Young Thug’s music has been limited to guest appearances. He has collaborated with artists like Metro Boomin, Yeat, and Rae Sremmurd. However, the release of Business Is Business finally changes that.

The album was initially announced through a countdown timer. It was shared on Young Thug’s and Metro Boomin’s social media pages, among others. Shortly before the countdown ended, Young Thug, Metro Boomin, and Drake revealed the album’s artwork. Then, earlier tonight, the tracklist for Business Is Business was finally unveiled. It featured 15 songs. On it, there were collaborations with Drake, Future, Travis Scott, Yak Gotti, and Lil Uzi Vert. Now, fans can finally rest easy knowing that Thugger has dropped his new album.

Young Thug Drops Bangers From Behind Bars

Young Thug may be behind bars, but that hasn’t stopped him from releasing an album full of bangers. Metro Boomin serves as the executive producer of the album. As such, it’s no surprise that he has contributed to several tracks. However, there are also notable contributions from other prominent producers. These include names such as Dr. Luke, Wheezy, Southside, and many others.

Interestingly, it hasn’t actually been that long since Young Thug dropped new music. Last month, he featured on Yeat’s latest single, “My Wrist.” However, fans will surely be glad to finally be getting a full album from Thugger himself instead of just features. With all of the star power that the rapper has got on board for his latest effort, there will no doubt be some big hits to come out of it. What do you think of Young Thug’s new album? Sound off in the comments below to let us know!
