BIG30 Is Looking To Prove He Is “Still King” On New LP

Memphis, Tennesee might be one of the hardest cities for a rapper to stand out in. Just think about all og the powerhouse names that originate from there. You have Key Glock, GloRilla, Yo Gotti, Juicy J, Moneybagg Yo, and so many others. One quality that all of these artists share would be the trademark Memphis accent and the resonant cadence. Sometimes, that similarity can really make it hard for listeners to discern who they are listening to. Unfortunately, for BIG30, he is one of the MCs that are having a harder go of things.

While he certainly has the connections in the industry like Pooh Shiesty and Yo Gotti, and a handful of popular tracks, it seems that he gets lost in the mix. By no means does BIG30 put out bad music. However, in that same breath, he does not stick out amongst his neighboring contemporaries. To us there really is not anything that makes him unique enough to garner more that replay ability factor.

Listen To Still King By BIG30

His latest album, Still King, is proof of that in some respects. At 17 tracks and minimal features, the tracks feel like they are repeating themselves. It also does not help that his “brrrr” adlibs sound exactly like Pooh Shiesty’s either. At the end of the day, this is not a bad album, but it just does not move the needle.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new album Still King by BIG30? Which songs are you gravitating toward the most right now? Where do you rank this project amongst the rest in his discography? Courtney Bell Calls On Detroit Icon Royce Da 5’9″ To Help Release “Microdose”

2020 was the last year for a brand-new Courtney Bell project, but this weekend changed that with Microdose. The ultra-talented lyricist from Detroit, Michigan has been stirring up a lot of interest in this mixtape over the last few months. Most people were unaware that this tape’s rollout began back in late January with the now lead single “Westside.” It featured a fellow Motown legend Royce Da 5’9″ and most would reason that he was going to be just a feature.

However, the frequent Eminem collaborator has turned to have a much larger hand in this endeavor. If fact, this is listed as a joint project between Courtney and Royce. The latter has another three appearances across the 14-song tracklist. He can also be heard on “Bang,” “Get Em High” (another promo track), and “BANZ.”

Speaking of promo cuts, Courtney put forth four in total. We were able to take a listen to “Word II Conway” which does indeed feature Conway the Machine. Bell spoke with Audible Treats a few months ago about “Westside” and the sound he was wanting to bring to the modern era. “This record for me is a statement, not only for myself but for the Westside of my city of Detroit and everyone that comes from it. I was inspired to create something sonically that hasn’t really been heard of for my generation.” However, we would argue that Bell puts on for the city across the tape.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new album Microdose by Courtney Bell and Royce Da 5’9″? Which songs are you gravitating toward the most right now? Where do you rank this project amongst the rest in his discography? What song do you think is the best and why? Who had the strongest feature on the tape? Wolffacejoeyy Drops His Debut Album “Valentino” After Years Of Anticipation

Staten Island, New York rapper and singer wolffacejoeyy has been creating a lot of buzz over the last few years, especially in 2024. The 21-year-old classifies himself as a sexy drill artist, and we can see why. He has an incredible knack for gliding over moody and sensual sped-up instrumentals with a buttery smooth cadence. People have been looking forward toward Valentino, his debut album after tiding fans over with mixtape titles all your fault (2022) and 22joeyy (2023). According to Genius, the origins for this project began back in late 2021.

Over the last three years, wolffacejoeyy has been steadily tweaking and restructuring every fine detail of Valentino. Now, all of that hard work and perseverance to push through and create his longest project to date has paid off. Originally, this was going to be an EP, but in an interview with The FADER, joeyy was destined to go all out for his fans and himself. “So, this one I wanted to really challenge myself, and my team really pushed me — they were like, ‘Yo, let’s try and make this feel like a full-blown project.’ So, the idea just slowly evolved into a whole album and building the world behind it.”

Listen To Valentino By Wolffacejoeyy

That perfectionist mentality is evident right from the opening cut to the closer. The “wya” artist mentioned how a handful of projects he considers flawless, led him to feel there was no room for error. “I’ve always wanted to make my own Days Before RodeoRodeo or ASTROWORLD or Igor or A Love Letter To You 3 or Blonde… I always try my best to really go into [recording a project] trying my best to make it as seamless as possible, so everyone can listen to it from top to bottom.” We feel that wolffacejoeyy has a winner with Valentino, as the melodies and instrumentals are stellar and sticky. Cash Cobain would be a proud dad, being a pioneer of sexy drill himself.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new album Valentino by wolffacejoeyy? Which songs are you gravitating toward the most right now? Kamaiyah Is In A Never-Ending Battle Of “Figuring Out Her Emotions” On Her Latest EP

After a hectic last couple of years (in a good way), Kamaiyah is keeping the wheels turning in 2024. The prolific Oakland rapper recently wrapped up the Another Summer Night Tour. It was a 20-city trek that revolved around her most recent album of the same name. It was one of two albums in 2023, with THE AM3RICAN DREAM being the other offering. That time around, she linked with Jay Worthy and producer extraordinaire, Harry Fraud. Even though last year was jam-packed, Kamaiyah is making sure to keep chugging along, and she did so by announcing Figuring Out My Emotions just a few days ago.

Part of the reason for this constant influx of projects is so the 2017 XXL Freshman can stay with the times. With the younger generations wanting new things more often, she is making sure she does not get left behind. According to Uproxx, Kamaiyah spoke with KOED about this very trend in modern music. “I don’t want to ever get complacent… because the way the industry is thriving right now is volume. It’s not the ’90s or early 2000s, like, nobody is catching a hit that lasts for a f***ing year anymore,” she expressed.

“People’s attention spans are so short. If you got the attention, keep it. And only way you keep it is more s*** in their face. It’s got to be organic.” She is also delivering on the latter, as this eight-track EP sees the effervescent femcee be more vulnerable and lowkey. Across the tracklist, Kamaiyah discusses the various times at which she has confronted her emotions. Whether it be self-care, romantic interests, or everything in between, she is presenting herself as an open book.

Mach-Hommy Puts On For His Homeland With “#RICHAXXHAITIAN”

Mach-Hommy has always proudly repped his Haitian roots. Across his decorated and prolific catalog, he has look to shed light on the country in multiple ways. Today, Mach-Hommy is doing more of the same on his 14th studio album #RICHAXXHAITIAN. Tomorrow, May 18, happens to be Haitian Flag Day, a national holiday in Haiti to celebrate the country’s independence from the French. The flag was raised for the first time on the 18th in 1803, as this day serves to remember the journey to their freedom.

According to an interview with Clash, Mach-Hommy’s goal for this album was to shed light on how influential Haiti is, as well as how far the country has come. “I’ve always wanted to rep for Haiti and the cultural and intellectual richness we’ve provided the world. From our musical styles like kontradans that have influenced world music, our natural resources which provide so much raw material for so many important advancements in technology, our thinkers that pioneered philosophical movements and Black pride…”

Mach-Hommy released the self-titled lead single on May 6, but the album was supposedly first announced back in the spring of 2023. It featured just a couple of the project’s many features, which includes Conductor Williams, Roc Marciano, Your Old Droog, Black Thought, Quelle Chris and more. Like always, Mach is bringing top-tier rapping and ever-changing instrumentals. This project really does not have many misses, if any, and it is easily worth multiple listens.

A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie Mixes Old With New On “Better Off Alone”

One thing that A Boogie Wit da Hoodie has always excelled at being able to swerve in out of rapping and singing. On every project, he has given you a mixture of these talents in some capacity. Now, A Boogie is continuing that trend with his latest LP, Better Off Alone. This fifth studio album has been in the works for nearly a year, and believe it or not, it actually started with the B4 BOA (Before Better Off Alone) EP.

The trio of “Her Birthday,” “Booby Trap,” and “Did Me Wrong,” turned out to be first of the promotional singles. We then would receive another five offerings with the lone track “Steppas,” and the sampler ALONE. So, instead of getting at least 80% new music, that figure dropped to 62%, with nearly half of the 21 tracks being older releases. That is a big reason why most of this listening experience feels like old meshing with new.

Listen To Better Off Alone By A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie

So, going into this album, know that almost half is being marketed as new material. On the bright side of the new with old aspect, Better Off Alone mixes fresh beats with some throwback samples. Two of the prime examples that we caught were on “Dark King” and “One Shot.” The former seems to slow down A Boogie’s 2017 hit with PnB Rock and NBA YoungBoy, “Beast Mode.” On the latter, the New York native loosely samples Eminem’s “Lose Yourself” at the start of the track. As for the album at large though, it is solid, but with 21 tracks it feels a little bloated.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new album Better Off Alone by A Boogie Wit da Hoodie? What tracks have you been gravitating toward so far? Rapsody Delivers Another Lyrical Masterclass On “Please Don’t Cry”

Rapsody is one of the most talented rappers in the game. Her music represents the sort of quality and reflectiveness that typified the backpack genre. She feels cut from the same cloth as Phonte, Mos Def, and her mentor, 9th Wonder. Rapsody broke through with her 2017 album, Laila’s Wisdom, but she’s been notably absent throughout the 2020s. Please Don’t Cry is her first new album in five years, and we’re happy to confirm that she hasn’t missed a step. If anything, she’s gotten better.

If Rapsody’s previous release, Eve, was about tributing her heroes, than Please Don’t Cry is about looking inward. She described the album on Instagram as a “love story with the reflection in the mirror,” an appreciation of all things “raw” and “imperfect.” The lyrical content of the album’s best songs bear this out. “3 A.M.” is a jazzy meditation on connecting with a loved one, and the Erykah Badu vocals on the hook embellish its smooth qualities. “Stand Tall” and “Lonely Women” are similar mid-tempo tracks that see Rapsody talk about the way people perceive and judge her. The latter, in particular, addresses the way people assume her sexuality based on her appearance.

Rapsody Sounds Sharper Than Ever On New Album

Please Don’t Cry isn’t a one-dimensional listen, however. There are plenty of hard-hitting instrumentals that liven things up and prove that Rapsody can outmaneuver most of her male peers. “Black Popstar” and “Asteroids” are prime examples of this gear shift. The latter features a chugging Hit-Boy beat that ranks among the best instrumental flourishes on the album. “Raw” is another gritty showcase that sees Rapsody trade bars with Lil Wayne. Please Don’t Cry does run a bit long, at 22 tracks, but the rapper has been gone for a long time, and she had a lot to say. Listeners will be rewarded.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new album Please Don’t Cry by Rapsody? Does the rapper deliver after five years away? What is your favorite song and why? Did any features steal the show? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest news surrounding Rapsody. Yhapojj Delivers His Anticipated Album “P.S. F*** You”

Yhapojj became a massive target for us to cover just a few short weeks ago when he dropped a new track called “SSwerve Geeked.” It was our first time reviewing any of his music and we can see why he has been garnering some buzz. For those who are not familiar with him, he is only 19 and calls Hunstville, Alabama home. His career saw a start during the COVID-19 pandemic, and it seems as if that time in our country spawned a lot of hip-hop artists. When he dropped that single, we got word that Yhapojj would be dropping a new album P.S. F*** You.

Well, that time has come and like his previous albums, it is almost exclusively Yhapojj and no one else. The only feature, Lil Tony Official, lands on the project’s lead single. A lot of people have been thoroughly enjoying this since its release. What we can say about it is that it is unique due to Yhapo’s flows, deliveries, and instrumental choices.

It is definitely not your standard trap rap record that you hear every other day. However, his style will definitely be an adjustment for quite a large number of listeners. This project is not offensive by any means. However, we feel it will take a few listens to understand the direction and unorthodox rapping from Yhapojj.

“Omega Music Vol. 1” Shows That UnoTheActivist Has Star Potential

UnoTheActivist is displaying that he can really flourish in the trap scene with his newest offering Omega Music Vol. 1. This marks the second album for the Atlanta, Georgia in 2024, following up a release from April called Music B4 Music. Leading up to the release of Omega Music Vol. 1, UnoTheActivist put out a trio of promotional cuts which began to rollout in February. Those include the ghoulish banger “Lil X,” “M’s (MMM MMM),” and the tape’s eventual closer “2Chainz.” The reason we well that Uno, or The Act, can really stand out amongst his bigger contemporaries is his approach.

On this project in particular, the prolific 28-year-old has a great ear for beats for starters. Across OMV1, he selects a lot of ear-grabbing instrumentals that are extremely woozy, moody, and detailed. Some of the best examples of this include “M’s,” “Futuristic Swaver,” and “ChieffKeffSossaa.” He is also able to flow really well, with “Uh Huh” and “Lil X” being our favorite tracks in that regard.

Listen To Omega Music Vol. 1 By The Act & UnoTheActivist

Perhaps the one drawback of this album is that Uno is clearly influenced by Lil Uzi Vert and Chief Keef to some extent. In fact, he does a pretty solid job at recreating the latter’s cadence and rap style on “ChieffKeffSossaa.” But, if he wants to truly separate himself, having a more distinctive voice. Other than that, this a solid project with plenty of heat on it.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new album Omega Music Vol.1 by UnoThe Activist? What tracks have you been gravitating toward? Noodah05 Is Popping Out For “5 MIN OF FAME” On His New LP

With the burgeoning Atlanta rap scene, it is extremely tough for artists to pop off and grow a comitted fanbase. Perhaps that is what Noodah05 is trying to avoid for now at least on his latest album 5 MIN OF FAME. In a recent interview with Remixd Magazine, the Georgia rapper and crooner spoke about the meaning behind this newest title in his discography. “Me getting my five minutes of fame. I feel like it’s really me letting the world in for five minutes. All I need is five minutes of fame. I’m not trying to be here too long.”

That is certainly interesting view, as most artists are looking blow up almost immediately. However, he seems to accept that he is not a superstar yet. “I feel like I’m a hidden gem. It don’t make me mad, I embrace it, Noodah05 said. “It’s like ‘we gatekeeping him, only because he so hard.’ You feel me? I understand it a lil bit from a fan standpoint.”

Listen To 5 MIN OF FAME By Noodah05

On 5 MIN OF FAME, Noodah05 is bringing a nice blend of melodic and hard-hitting trunk knockers across the tight 13-song project. This is his follow-up to Bigger Now, which dropped in late September of 2023. The 4PF (Lil Baby’s label) signee decided to opt against including features, perhaps to feed into that 5 MIN OF FAME mentality of letting people only here him for a short time. However, he did mention that it was hard to not include any features. Regardless, Noodah05 was stoked to be getting this out. “This time around I’m excited. I’m waiting to see everybody reaction.” We are indeed excited for him and for what will be coming down the pipeline because this tape is a solid listen.
