Meek Mill Says Leaving Roc Nation Management is a Mutual Decision for His Growth

REFORM Alliance Tallies a Major Win in Reshaping California Probation System

Meek Mill’s management deal with Roc Nation is over but he is shutting down any belief there is beef between him and the powerhouse company. Speaking on Twitter, Meek revealed both entities decided it was time for meek to take more control of his career.

“All I seen today was meek and roc part ways,” Meek opened. “I’m personally handling my own business so I can take risk and grow.. we came to that agreement together.. I have a label deal with roc for my artists and I got reform super tied with them and many other investments with jigga.”

He would also reveal the people at Roc Nation saved his life and that any beef with any label is with Atlantic Records and not Roc Nation or Maybach Music Group.

According to Billboard, Meek spent 10 years under Roc Nation management.

Meek Mill Explains Why He Left Roc Nation Management: ‘So I Can Take Risk And Grow’

Earlier today, it was reported that Meek Mill had parted ways with Roc Nation Management, which has handled his career since 2012. The report prompted speculation about Meek’s relationships with Roc Nation founder Jay-Z and his MMG label boss Rick Ross, moving Meek to address the rumors on Twitter.

“All I seen today was meek and roc part ways,” he wrote. “I’m personally handling my own business so I can take risk and grow ..we came to that agreement together.” He also noted that his other business dealings with Roc Nation remain intact. “I have a label deal with roc for my artist and I got reform super tied with them and many other investments wit jigga.”

Perhaps concerned about any future speculation getting out of hand, he also clarified that he’s in a good place with his business partners, who he credited with turning his life around. “roc nation is my family,” he buzzed. “Don’t mix my post aimed at Atlantic mixed up with roc or MMG …they ain’t stop nothing I’m doing. We made about a 100m together. Des, Mike, and Hov saved my life b4 And put a lot of energy into it. I’m not behind on my favors in life wit my people. I’m good.”

And when one fan tried to find an angle to turn Meek’s pro-Jay-Z posts into a wedge between Meek and Ross, the Philly rapper nipped the impending drama in the bud. “This wasn’t really a convo for MMG,’ he clarified. “I just wanted to add that in there because Ross put me in the game also! It was for the controlled media base vibes.”

So there you have it. Meek will manage his career in-house (at least for the time being) so he can grow as a businessman while keeping his other arrangements in place to benefit the artists he’s working with.

Meek Mill Reportedly Leaves Roc Nation Management

It looks like Meek Mill is in the market for a new management company. Billboard reports that, after ten years signed to Jay-Z’s do-it-all management firm, Meek’s name no longer appears on the Roc Nation roster or its social media pages. Sources told Billboard that Meek parted ways with Roc Nation, but doesn’t have an explanation or any details on his future plans. Roc Nation is also the distributor for Meek’s Dream Chasers label; there is no information on whether this is affected.

While business is business, it remains to be seen how this affects Meek’s personal relationship with Jay-Z, with whom he’s partnered on the Reform Alliance non-profit dedicated to transforming the criminal justice system. Fans previously speculated that Meek’s proximity to Jay strained his relationship with MMG ower Rick Ross; Meek has released music under Ross’ MMG imprint since 2011, the same year he was featured on XXL‘s Freshman Class.

Although Billboard does not have many details of Meek’s departure from Roc Nation, it does note that the Philadelphia rapper previously expressed discontent with his label situation, maintaining that Atlantic Records didn’t properly promote his 2021 album Expensive Pain and applied draconian measures to the end of his contract. He even threatened to post his own contract online, a la Kanye West, but has yet to follow through.

Meek Mill’s Awkward Weightlifting Form Gives Fans Fuel For Yet Another Roast Session

For someone who hates getting clowned on the internet so much, Meek Mill sure does give music fans a lot of ammunition. While fans probably should give him a break when it comes to his film analyses and sharing his recording contract misfortunes, he occasionally posts content that makes fans question his self-awareness. For instance, when he and Jay-Z teamed up to buy their business partner Robert Kraft a Bentley for his birthday, it only highlighted how out-of-touch he seems with fans who relate to his street-centric subject matter.

His latest front page faux pas is a workout video that demonstrates some pretty atrocious form and little understanding of gym equipment. He appears to be attempting an overhead press with one arm, but instead of using the appropriate dumbbell, which is designed for one-handed use, he’s pushing a barbell, which you should ONLY use with both hands. Naturally, as a result, the unbalanced long bar wobbles and shakes and Meek compensates by leaning back, putting himself at risk of serious injury.

Of course, once the video went viral, fans found plenty to mock about the awkward workout, with one remarking that “Meek Mill the first person I seen do every single thing wrong.” Another lamented the obvious ineffectiveness of Meek’s routine, predicting he was “gaining nothing from this but scoliosis.” Fortunately for Meek, he can probably avoid a repeat of the roast session by hiring a trainer — or keeping his gym-related social media activity to mirror selfies, like everybody else on the internet.

21 Savage Explains How Meek Mill and Jay-Z Helped Him Get Released From ICE Custody

In February of 2019, the hip-hop world was shocked to hear that 21 Savage had been arrested and detained by ICE because he was living in the U.S. with an expired visa. While many were shocked by the arrest, many were also shocked by the fact that the Atlanta artist is actually British. Nonetheless, 21 was caught up in a very serious situation and we’re glad he found a way out of it.

On the latest episode of My Expert Opinion with Math Hoffa, 21 spoke on his situation with ICE and revealed that Meek Mill played a role in helping him get out of custody. 21 explains that when he got locked up, he called Meek Mill and told him he was in jail. Meek told Jay-Z who got a lawyer on the case.

“They detained me ’cause they said I had felony conviction, but the felony conviction got dismissed. And I called Meek while I was in jail and told Meek, ‘Bro, I just got locked up.’ [Meek] called Jay-Z, and Jay-Z put a lawyer on my case … [he] played a role in getting me out of there.”

Hov had called Alex Spiro to assist in 21’s legal battle and called the arrest an “absolute travesty” in a statement released soon after 21’s arrest.

“The arrest and detention of 21 Savage is an absolute travesty, his U visa petition has been pending for 4 years. In addition to being a successful recording artist, 21 deserves to be reunited with his children immediately, #Free21Savage.”

21 went on to express his gratitude to Jay for helping him get out of custody.

“[Jay’s] ain’t just doing that shit for anybody, just ’cause you rap …,” he said. “It’s like you gotta be from a certain cloth … I don’t feel like he’s just doing that for anybody. I ain’t Roc Nation or any of that shit.”

21 Savage Revealed That Meek Mill Helped Him Get Legal Assistance Following His 2019 ICE Arrest

More than three years ago, the music world was shocked by the news of 21 Savage’s Immigration And Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrest. In a statement following his arrest, ICE revealed that the rapper was actually from the United Kingdom and that he came to the United States legally on a visa in July 2005. The visa expired in July 2006 and Savage unlawfully stayed in the country. Savage later received help from Jay-Z and Roc Nation as he was later released from ICE custody. As of today, the case has not been fully resolved as Savage is still in a fight for legal immigration status.

During a recent appearance on My Expert Opinion with Math Hoffa, 21 Savage spoke about the arrest and revealed that Meek Mill had a hand in getting him legal assistance. “They detained me ’cause they said I had felony conviction, but the felony conviction got dismissed,” Savage explained. “And I called Meek while I was in jail and told Meek, ‘Bro, I just got locked up.’ [Meek] called Jay-Z, and Jay-Z put a lawyer on my case … [he] played a role in getting me out of there.” He then shared his gratitude for the help Jay-Z gave him to fight the case.

[Jay’s] ain’t just doing that shit for anybody, just ’cause you rap …,” Savage said. “It’s like you gotta be from a certain cloth … I don’t feel like he’s just doing that for anybody. I ain’t Roc Nation or any of that sh*t.”

The most recent update in Savage’s case came in April. His lawyer Charles Kuck revealed that a 2020 charge for possession of a controlled substance and possession of a firearm was affected his fight for legal immigration status. As a result, the immigration case was put on pause until the charges could be resolved.
