Drake always loves to strum up a debate online, as he was making headlines yet again for a t-shirt that read “RAP IS A JOKE”. You can see him wearing the piece of clothing below in his latest Instagram post. It The caption also had rap fans talking, “The pressure from being on top does more than just make your ears pop”. Originally, there were a lot of people associating this with the Canadian artist’s loss to Kendrick Lamar in their highly publicized beef. Additionally, others were suspecting this upload (the caption in particular) was a reference to the shocking storyline that made waves just hours before. The Donald Trump assassination attempt saw him accrue a battle scar on the upper part of his right ear.

While the caption remains up in the air, the “RAP IS A JOKE” tee has a meaning separate from any possible references to K-Dot. According to Uproxx, internet/rap sleuths over at Complex dug up its origins and it has to do with “Frank Stacks and L-Money’s Rap Is A Joke battle rap and parody duo out of the Bay Area”. You can find the video for the song down below as well. Additionally, there seems to be an official account for the shirt that Drake wore on IG.

The page has a photo of Tech N9ne wearing the exact same apparel, and they also reshared Drake’s viral photo. You can also purchase the shirt if you would like for $20 with the second “[Via]” link below. Overall, this could still have something to do with Kendrick Lamar in some capacity and fans will undoubtedly continue to get on Drake for this. However, the latter will almost assuredly never explain this act in the future, so the debate will most likely continue for a little while longer.

Benny The Butcher Reveals Significance Of New Album’s Title, “Everybody Can’t Go”

Benny The Butcher’s upcoming album Everybody Can’t Go unfortunately faced a delay until early 2024, but that doesn’t mean it’ll be any less exciting or impressive. Moreover, he recently remarked what the project’s title means to him, and what he meant for it to represent. The Black Soprano Family boss expressed these thoughts to Elliott Wilson and company on the Rap Radar podcast, where they also discussed how rappers deserve more respect than they get these days. In order to prove that feat, he wants to do so through the best way he can: the strength, power, and displays of skill and talent through the music.

“Everybody can’t go because they not cut like that,” Benny The Butcher began his breakdown. “They not made like that. And you can’t dance to every song, you know what I’m saying? Everything is not for everybody. With new levels come new devils, and I want more. I want bigger for myself. When you make that first cut, when you clearly see, ‘These people are not for me, they don’t need to be here.’ So the people who made that, who got past that cut, they think they’re safe. And what I mean by level up, you know, is my way of thinking. And of course, my way of making music.”

Elsewhere during their conversation, the Buffalo native also thanked J. Cole for recognizing the responsibility that comes with his status as a leader in the game, whereas others in Cole’s position are “not worried about pushing the culture forward.” “A lot of things that he do that he don’t have to do,” Benny The Butcher stated. “I know we can say that about a lot of people but it seems to me like he take interest in things like that, and that’s the difference. He realizes his responsibility of him being the top guy. And make no mistake, he’s the top guy. Cole is the top f***ing guy in this s**t right now, you know what I’m saying? And for him to understand there’s a responsibility just says a lot about him, ’cause a lot of these dudes don’t, man.”

T.I. Explains Meaning Of His Final Album, “Kill The King”

T.I. says that he’s hoping to dethrone himself as the “King of the South” with his upcoming final album, Kill the King. Speaking with TMZ, the legendary rapper reflected on the title as well as the end of his storied career. T.I. has referred to himself as the king on many songs throughout his career. The first time came on his song, “2 Glock 9’s,” featuring Beanie Sigel. He even named his 2006 album King. “That was the beginning of a long road of many challenges, opposition and adversity,” the rapper reflected.

“I feel like the King of the South moniker is very egotistical, self-gratuitous and it’s a persona that kinda enters the room before I do physically. Big Boi cautioned me of [the title] back when I was coming onto the scene,” T.I. recalled to the outlet. “Big Boi said, ‘It sounds cool. I like it, but understand when you are king you put a big bullseye on your back. You can’t look for no favors. Life is a game of chess, and the name of the game is called Kill The King. That’s what you are setting yourself up for.’ [At the age] I didn’t really think much of it.”

T.I. Speaks To TMZ

T.I. announced Kill the King back in 2021, at the end of the music video for his single “What It’s Come To.” The Atlanta rapper also addressed a series of allegations including sexual assault, rape, drugging, and more that were made against him and his wife, Tiny Harris, on the song.

“When people heard it, the visceral reaction that they had, that’s what made it more personal for me,” T.I. said of the initially reaction to him labeling himself the king. “When people started telling me ‘You can’t call yourself that.’ I said, ‘Who the fuck are you to tell me what I can and can’t call MYSELF.’ And that’s when I began to feel more ownership; I felt like, ‘Well now, I got to stand on this.’”

Earlier this year, T.I. recalled DJ Drama’s reaction to calling himself the King of the South during an interview with Shannon Sharpe. “[DJ Drama] called me in to freestyle on a mixtape,” he said. “I said King of the South in the freestyle. He kind of raised his head like, ‘Whoa! What is that? What did you say?’ I said, ‘You heard what I said.’”
