Meek Mill Drags His Former MMG Compatriot Wale, Who He Says ‘Never Liked Me’

It looks like everybody in hip-hop is catching the rap beef bug. After Kendrick Lamar threw a lyrical chair in the direction of Drake and J. Cole on Future and Metro Boomin’s new album a few weeks ago, all hell has broken loose. The chaos now encompasses GloRilla and JT, J. Cole and Kendrick Lamar, and now, even Meek Mill is letting his Twitter fingers fly again (I guess he forgot what happened the last time he got too reckless online).

This time, the target for Meek’s ire is another frequent collaborator: former Maybach Music Group compatriot Wale, who apparently was seen in a photo with another rapper with whom Meek has an unfriendly relationship. Ant Glizzy, a rapper from Washington, DC — like Wale — had previously done an interview with Akademiks in which he suggested that Wale and Meek had so much friction that Wale apparently “hated” Meek.

After Wale wrote, “When u get in other people unserious drama in this industry 90pct of the time they be back friends… eventually ..and then u look silly,” Meek unleashed a torrent of criticism for his former labelmate, despite previously shutting down rumors of beef between the two.

Sharing a link to Akademiks’ TikTok (apparently ignoring he has had it in for the Instagram influencer for some time, as well), Meek snapped back, “I ignored this because if this was true you would be in danger … but now I see you around guys that’s on full meek campaigns.” In a follow-up, he also insinuated that he even risked his freedom while on probation to jump into a fight and save Wale, who was getting “beat up” at his own birthday party.

“When I met wale he got beat up at his bday party in dc got his teeth knocked out,” he wrote. “I jumped in because a celebrity like him invited me I was violating probation in dc risked my life… to find out he never liked me will make you angry! That’s just me tho… I tried to be cool with this lame for Ross business I woulda been treated him.”

Maybe Meek’s still drunk from partying at Wrestlemania… But at some point, you’d think he would learn to handle his problems out of the public eye.

It’s been a minute since Rick Ross and Meek Mill connected on wax but finally, the two joined forces on “Shaq & Kobe.” The new collaborative single from Rozay and Meek marks their first in years and comes after rumors of the two beefing with each other. Fortunately, they’ve made amends and are back to cooking up new music together. It seems as though “Shaq & Kobe” isn’t the only record the two have the stash, though.

According to a press release, Rick Ross and Meek Mill will be joining forces for a joint project. Rozay announced a new partnership with gamma., a social media platform driven by artists and creatives co-founded by Larry Jackson. Given that Rick Ross has left Atlantic Records, he’s embarked on a journey as an independent artist. His new partnership with gamma. will see him spearhead a number of projects with the first being his joint project with Meek Mill.

Breyon Prescott, Rick Ross’ business partner and owner of Chameleon Entertainment, also joins Rozay in establishing the partnership between MMG and gamma. For months now, many have believed that there have been tensions between Rick Ross and Meek Mill over a possible contract dispute with Ross’ Maybach Music Group, which Meek signed to in 2011. The rumors started after Meek blocked Ross from entering his birthday party for allegedly refusing to let him out of his MMG contract. Months later, Ross denied that there was any tension between the two.

In a new interview on The Morning Hustle, Ross elaborated on his and Meek’s relationship. “I feel like we’re both hustlers,” he said. “That’s one thing about life, you either grow together or grow apart. As a boss, you make that decision, because whatever it is you want to do, Ricky Rozay wants to see you do it.” He also suggested that if Meek has any label issues, it would be with Atlantic Records and not MMG.

“I’ma be honest, when Meek taking a jab at anybody, the only way I can assume is he’s doing that at Atlantic Records,” Ross said. “All we ever did was get paper and it’s real easy to say a n**** name. Ain’t nothing to — you feel me? I know what it is when me and Meek always got money. He a boss now. We done been down 10 years. Is he signed to Maybach Music? Yes, he is. But he’s also a boss and real bosses give other bosses opportunities to become bigger bosses.”

He continued, “Go, man. Go buy the biggest sh*t in Dubai, man. Let’s go be billionaires. And if I’m only gonna get $7 billion and you get $20 billion, God is great! That’s all it is. Is it any pressure? It ain’t no pressure. And always remember, it’s real easy to make it clear when it’s pressure.”
