SZA Geeks Out Over Fan-Made Bjork Mashups Of Their Biggest Hits

SZA is absolutely losing her marbles over discovering some fan-made Bjork mashups. According to Uproxx, the Icelandic singer was actually the one to unearth this frankly impressive concoctions. She sent them out on her X account and the St. Louis, Missouri product was in shock, but in a good way. ““I’M SORRY WHAATT?? I BEG UR F***ING PARDON !???”, and “DAAAAAAHHHH”, were her animated responses to learning about these two tracks. “PAGAN BARRYMORE” and “Hunter”/ ”Seek & Destroy” have both been on YouTube for several months to a year. However, its pretty cool that these two respective superstars are reacting to their fans in this manner.

It’s worth noting that SZA is a massive fan of Bjork’s. About two years ago, the SOS hitmaker went onto label her as the G.O.A.T. in her eyes. “I’ve always loved Björk. She’s the GOAT to me. From the way she was beating up reporters to the way she emotes in her music, she’s just the realest b**** alive”.

SZA Is A Bjork Superfan

In that same interview with EW, SZA recalled where her fandom started. “[An] iPod I found had a bunch of music, and [Bjork’s] music was on there. But I had already been listening to it because we did dances to it in high school. I was part of a company called Special Dance, and we did a dance to ‘Jóga’”. Additionally, around the release of her future SOS track “I Hate U”, she tweeted out in 2021 about talking with Bjork and how surreal it was. “Day 6 at number one and I’m texting Bjork rn . Life is as it should be .. sensational… I love you all so much . Please have a fire day”.

Drake Gets A Double Helping Of Pain With “Story Of Adidon” x “6:16 In LA” Mashup

Drake should probably stay offline for the next few hours, lest he find a jump scare with two of his rap beef rivals “teaming up.” Moreover, a new mashup of Pusha T and Kendrick Lamar’s diss tracks against him, “The Story Of Adidon” and “6:16 In LA” respectively, has hit the Internet, and The Boy’s haters are loving it. Of course, this is unofficial and is just an example of a fan having fun with these disses, but it does open up the convo around Push and K.Dot’s beefs once again. Many felt that the latter carried the former’s torch forward, whereas others expressed disappointment with their similar angles.

Furthermore, this comes as folks like DJ Akademiks expressed their belief that Kendrick Lamar is “milking” this Drake beef too much. “So my last thoughts on this is a pathetic attempt, I believe, by pgLang and TDE to try to bait Drake out,” DJ Akademiks posited. “Talking about ‘redemption is not off the table.’ N***a, listen, call me the spokesperson for Drake or OVO, but I can tell you, n***a. Drake is gonna drop amazing music, it’s gonna be good. If you think he gon’ keep going back and forth with that n***a calling him a pedophile and lying, he’s not. So move on, hurry along, and y’all go drop y’all music. See you n***as on the f***ing charts. That’s it, okay? That’s it. There’s no more conversation, that’s it.”

Kendrick Lamar & Pusha T’s Drake Diss Tracks Are A Match Made In Heaven

Regardless, this is one of many mashups involving Drake disses these days, and they probably won’t slow down anytime soon. It also comes amid new music rumors for both Kendrick Lamar and Drizzy, whereas Pusha T has also teased new material in the last few months. Whether the Toronto superstar chooses to go for a round two or not is a mystery, but it seems quite unlikely. If OVO waits out the storm, then pgLang will be the one to tire folks out first.

But that camp will also always have the joy of trolling Drake over his losses, which is exactly what mashups like these create online. Even if Kendrick Lamar and Pusha T never talked about him again, these connections entrench them in history too deeply. We doubt that either “The Story Of Adidion” or “6:16 In LA” will ever truly take the 6ix God down. But they sure do sound great together.

Ice Spice K-Pop Mashup Goes Viral

A fan mashup of Ice Spice and K-Pop group XG has gone viral on social media. The video was originally posted to YouTube in February 2023 and presents a fairly flawless mashup of “In Ha Mood” and “Shooting Star”. However, the video is gaining new traction thanks to Daniel Takedea, whose project direction work with Rolling Stone, GQ, Vogue, and more landed him on the Forbes 30 Under 30 list. “Wait, this XG x Ice Spice remix is amazing!!” Takedea wrote in Japanese on X, formerly Twitter. The video also incorporates Spice’s “Bikini Bottom” as part of its visuals.

Of course, K-Pop collabs are the flavor de jour in the hip-hop world at the moment. Last year, Jung Kook of BTS had solo collabs with Latto and Jack Harlow. Meanwhile, BTS as a group also landed Megan Thee Stallion as a feature. Could the revival of this mashup lead to Ice Spice getting her own K-Pop link-up? Let us know in the comments if that’s something you’d want to see. Which other rappers do you want to see get a K-Pop collab?

Ice Spice Congratulates Kai Cenat On Streaming Award, Fans Eye Their Flirty Vibes

However, there might be a collab of the romantic kind in Spice’s life, at least if social media is to be believed. Is there something between Kai Cenat and Spice? Fans are unsure what to think after seeing a recent exchange on social media. “congrats kaiiiii >.<,” Spice wrote, responding to news that Cenat had once again won “streamer of the year”. “Appreciate You Gorgeous ❤,” Cenat wrote in response, sparking speculation amongst fans that something might be going on between the pair. Others noted that Cenat responded to Spice within a minute of her posting her message to him. At the very least, Cenat was incredibly eager to show the rapper love as soon as possible.

Spice has previously appeared on Cenat’s stream and went as far as to send him a Christmas present last year. However, Cenat’s affections are rather fickle. At separate points in 2023, he was shooting his shot with both GloRilla and SZA. It remains to be seen if the messages are just flirty banter between friends or subtle signs of a new power couple. What do you think is going on here? Let us know in the comments.

DJ Ted Smooth has unveiled a new remix of Scar Lip’s “This Is New York,” which features added vocals from the late Biggie Smalls. He announced the remix to fans on his Instagram last week, who flooded his comments section with fire emojis. The mashup isn’t the first time “This Is New York” got a remix. Scar Lip’s Snoop Dogg collab “This Is Cali” dropped just last month.

Recently, Scar Lip credited her famous supporters for the success she’s seen as of late. She discussed in her interview with VladTV how shoutouts from Boosie Badazz, Cardi B, and even Shaquille O’Neal boosted her career. “When Boosie reposted me, it felt like I had a shot,” she revealed. “That’s when motion started coming in. His push, [and] his co-sign, got me a lot of press…that shit helped my career a lot.” She went on to share her feelings on Cardi B posting her song on social media. “I couldn’t believe that..that post changed my life,” Scar Lip recalled, “I love her so much.” She went on to further praise Cardi, explaining, “She started from the bottom and raised her way to the top, [and] anybody that feels a way about that…you’re just weird. Biggie Joins Scar Lip In New Remix

The 22-year-old revealed how she got Snoop Dogg to collaborate with her in May. She shared screenshots of Instagram DMs between her and Snoop, where she writes, “Hey Snoop, I’m a big fan & love your music. I have a song called ‘This is New York,’ and wanted to know if you’d get on the remix.” After not receiving a reply, she followed up with “Hey Snoop you think u can get on my remix?” Snoop Dogg then told her, “F*ck yes,” and the rest was history.

Scar Lip also just recently signed to Epic Records. Her new label-mate, Swizz Beatz, previously described similarities he sees between the young rapper and the late DMX. “I honestly feel like DMX sent Scar Lip my way because she’s too much of his energy,” he told The Breakfast Club. He went on to say, “she’s amazing and [has] a great heart the same way X had a great heart.”
