For many people, this stands out among the three albums ASAP Rocky released in his career. Rocky’s production choices were both dreamy and trippy with a specific energy that oozed through each track. Not only did Rocky have production credits himself but Hit-Boy, T-Minus, Danger Mouse and more also contributed to the tracklist. Rocky’s go-to producer, Clams Casino, was behind album standout “LVL,” further cementing their on-wax chemistry together.

Debates about who had the best verse are still had amongst fans today. Rocky brought something new while still being sure to include elements that were universally loved amongst rap fans.

ASAP Rocky Shares A Reworked Video For ‘Angels,’ 10 Years After The Song’s Release

ASAP Rocky celebrated a huge milestone this past weekend. Last Saturday (January 15) marked the 10-year anniversary of his debut album, Long. Live. ASAP. Today, ASAP celebrated the anniversary of the album by sharing a reworked visual fan-favorite.

The song “Angels” was first-featured on the deluxe edition of Long. Live. ASAP, but had been acclaimed by fans since its release. On the heels of the album’s anniversary, Rocky has shared “Part II” of the song’s original video.

In the video, ASAP is seen out in Los Angeles with the ASAP Mob, including ASAP Ferg and the late ASAP Yams, who noticeably has a halo digitally imposed over his head throughout the clip. A lot has happened for ASAP over the past decade. He has released three studio albums, a furniture line called Hommemade, and has become the father to a son with Rihanna.

In a recent interview with Complex, ASAP shared that in this point of his career, he is prioritizing his artistry, first and foremost:

“I’m in a place where I want to give my all to all of this. All I have is my craft, my art, my family. That’s just my life. That’s what encompasses or completes my life at this moment. So I’m really compassionate about everything that I do. And I’ll reiterate I want to express myself musically in a way that I haven’t. And it’s such a really weird time for hip-hop. We’re losing so many legends. And the scope of the game, pop is fighting for the number one spot, as far the most predominant genre. It’s a really weird time right now. I don’t really care for the politics of it. I just want to give motherf*ckers some dope sh*t.”

Hit-Boy Recalls Offering “1Train” To Drake Before A$AP Rocky

Hit-Boy says that he originally offered the beat for A$AP Rocky’s “1Train” to Drake. The Toronto rapper turned it down while making an album, which was likely Nothing Was the Same.

“First person i sent this beat to was drake,” Hit-Boy recalled on Twitter, Sunday. “He said he already had a joint on his album with a similar sound.”

He continued: “So at the end of my session wit rocky for ‘goldie’ i played 1train instrumental and he took it and made it what is it.”

In another post replying to the same tweet he wrote: “listen to Nas ‘thun’ off KD3 then listen to 1train. why do some heads think i just start chopping?”

The post comes on the tenth anniversary of the release of Long. Live. A$AP. The project debuted at No.1 on the Billboard 200 chart back in 2013, selling 139,000 equivalent units in its first week. The tracklist featured Rocky’s hits “Goldie”, “Fuckin’ Problems”, “Wild for the Night”, and “Fashion Killa.”

Among the other tracks was “1Train,” which turned heads for its stacked lineup of features. Kendrick Lamar, Joey Bada$$, Yelawolf, Danny Brown, Action Bronson, and Big K.R.I.T. all appear on the song.

In celebration of the 10th anniversary of Long. Live. A$AP, Rocky shared a music video for the deluxe edition song, “Angels.”

As for what Hit-Boy has in store, the iconic producer shared a new track with Offset last Friday. He’s also planning on collaborating with Musiq Soulchild for an entire R&B album. The project will be titled Victims & Villains, as confirmed by Musiq.

A$AP Rocky Marks 10 Years Of “LONG.LIVE.A$AP” With “Angels” Alternate Video

It’s been nearly five years since A$AP Rocky delivered his Testing album, and while fans are undeniably eager for new music from the father of one, the hiatus has given us plenty of time to celebrate the rest of his discography.

Today (January 15), the New Yorker’s debut project, LONG.LIVE.A$AP marks its 10-year anniversary. Complete with hit songs like “F**kin’ Problems” with Drake, 2 Chainz, and Kendrick Lamar and “Hell” featuring Santigold, the effort has been in streaming rotation since its initial debut.

Another fan favourite from the tracklist is “Angels,” which arrived later on the deluxe cut. At the time it came with a music video, but to celebrate a decade of success, Rocky dropped off an alternate visual for audiences on Sunday afternoon.

As HipHopNMore reports, the clip finds the 33-year-old linking up with friends in NYC. The late A$AP Yams is prominently featured in some never-before-seen footage.

Of course, the new release takes inspiration from the original, though this version is shorter. In his usual fashion, Rakim Mayers made a few noteworthy changes to keep things fresh to help his audience celebrate.

Throughout “Angels,” Rocky chiefly raps about his violent and drug-filled childhood before his inevitable rise to fame. He gets vulnerable about selling marijuana and crack cocaine at a young age and recruiting other children to aid him in his illegal endeavours.

His new visual has been sitting well with fans, with many of them singing its praises in the comment section. “10 years later and still fresh,” one person wrote. “Rocky a real trendsetter.”

Others added, “This song is so timeless,” and “Give this man a Lifetime Achievement Award for visuals while he’s alive please!”
