Lizzo Reveals What Chris Evans Did That Motivated Her To Slide Into His DMs

Earlier this year, Lizzo confessed that she drunkenly slid into actor Chris Evans’ Instagram DMs. The result was a small back-and-forth, as well as a joke from the singer that she was pregnant with Evans’ baby. Now, Lizzo adds a new layer to the story by explaining what motivated her to try her luck with the Avengers actor in the first place.

“I saw a video of him hollering at this Black girl,” Lizzo said during a recent interview with Big Boy on Real 92.3. “It was like a paparazzi video and it was old. He was outside of this hotel or whatever and he was hollering at this Black girl. He didn’t know nobody was looking at him. He was Christopher Jamal, OK? I don’t know what happened with that, but I know it was years ago so I was like, well she probably not in the picture no more.”

She also admitted that she was inspired by Saweetie and Quavo’s icy-themed Instagram conversation, which led to the pair dating for two and a half years. She figured if it worked for them, it could work for her.

“There’s just something about that face,” Lizzo said about Evans. “When you come up to a Black woman, you gotta come correct. And when you do come correct, there’s nothing more attractive. So I said ‘He got game a little bit. I’m single.’”

Cardi B Defends Lizzo After She Had An Emotional Breakdown About Negative Comments

Lizzo should be celebrating a good moment in her career as she just released “Rumors” with Cardi B, her first single in almost two years. Unfortunately for her, however, negative comments Lizzo read on social media pushed her to tears that were captured during a recent Instagram Live session she held.

“For the most part, it doesn’t hurt my feelings. I don’t care,” she said during the livestream. “I just think when I’m working this hard, my tolerance gets lower, my patience is lower, I’m more sensitive and it gets to me.”

The Cuz I Love You singer continued to address the “people who have something mean to say about you” for the remainder of the livestream. Once a clip of Lizzo’s words landed on social media, Cardi B arrived to defend her on Twitter.

“When you stand up for yourself they claim your problematic & sensitive,” the rapper wrote. “When you don’t they tear you apart until you crying like this. Whether you skinny, big, plastic, they going to always try to put their insecurities on you.” Cardi added, “Remember these are nerds looking at the popular table.”

Lizzo Said Name-Dropping Drake On ‘Rumors’ Was Her Attempt At Flipping The Script

Lizzo’s fans were greeted with an awesome treat this past weekend as the singer released her first song in almost two years. Her newest release found her working beside Cardi B for their first-ever collaboration, “Rumors.” The song came with an elegant video that captured the pair using sarcasm to clown their haters about the unsupported and false claims people make about the artists.

While that was a notable aspect of the song, another one came when Lizzo name-dropped Drake. “Readin’ sh*t on the internet,” she says on the song. “My smoothie cleanse and my diet / No, I ain’t f*ck Drake — yet.”

During a recent interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, Lizzo explained what inspired her mention of Drake on the song. “I just thought it would be so funny to say,” she said. “I have a small relationship with him. He’s very cool. I just feel like women, there’s so many times where girls’ names get dropped in songs ’cause they’re fine.”

“Rumors” is presumably the lead single from Lizzo’s upcoming fourth album, which the singer hinted features work from Mark Ronson and Philip Lawrence of Bruno Mars’ songwriting/production team The Smeezingtons. Until then, fans can catch her perform the new track and more during upcoming festival appearances at Bonnaroo and Firefly.

Lizzo And Cardi B Clown Their Haters With Sarcasm On Their First-Ever Collaboration, ‘Rumors’

It’s been almost two years since Lizzo delivered a new track to the world, with that being a remix of “Good As Hell” with Ariana Grande. However, when you consider how monumental 2019 was for Lizzo’s career, it’s understandable why the singer may have opted for a break once everything settled down. Between her Platinum-selling third album, Cuz I Love You, which peaked at No. 4 on the albums chart and winning in the Best Urban Contemporary Album category at the 2020 Grammys, that year’s success was life-changing for Lizzo. But now she’s back with Cardi B by her side for a brand new single, “Rumors.”

On the track, which arrives with an elegant video, Lizzo and Cardi use sarcasm to laugh off their haters by labeling all the rumors about them as true. Lizzo touches on comments on her body image, her music, and a possible fling with Drake while Cardi addresses claims of having “fake ass and fake boobs” and using streaming machines to boost her music.

“Rumors” is the latest track that finds Cardi B aligned with a big-name female act within the music industry. Last summer, she teamed with Megan Thee Stallion for their No. 1 single “WAP” and earlier this year, she joined Normani for the singer’s comeback single, “Wild Side.”

You can press play on “Rumors” in the video above.

Lizzo Joked That She’s Pregnant With Chris Evans’ Baby, Which Prompted A Perfect Response From The Actor

It all started with drunk DMs.

In April, Lizzo had some beverages and proceeded to send some messages to Chris Evans on Instagram. From there, the two forged a friendship, and it seems now that things have been taken to a new level (but not really). Lizzo revealed that she’s pregnant with Evans’ baby (but not really) and he continues to play along.

Over some music from Captain America: The First Avenger, Lizzo said in a recent TikTok video, “This is something that I’ve been really trying to keep personal and private between me and the father of my child, but since we’re airing out all the rumors today, I’ve been sucking in. We’re gonna have a little America!”

A few days later, Lizzo shared a screenshot of a message from Evans, who wrote, Hi! Just heard about our little bundle of joy [crying laughing emoji] my mother will be so happy lol.” He added in another message, “(Just promise me no gender reveal parties lol).”

@lizzo

OMG YALL— HE SAW THE BABY BUMP! WE DID IT! NOW YALL GOTTA NAME LIL MERICA!!!!! WHAT YALL BOUTA NAME MY BABY ?! 🤰🏾🇺🇸

To recap the Lizzo/Evans situation that led to this, Lizzo sent Evans a drunk DM, he was a good sport about it, and the two seem to have maintained a social media relationship from there.

Lizzo Is Starting A ‘New Era’ Next Week With ‘Rumors,’ Her First Single In Two Years

Lizzo’s most recent single was 2020’s “Cuz I Love You,” which comes from her 2019 album of the same name. So, it’s been a couple years since we’ve gotten some new music from Lizzo. She’s gearing up for a new era now, as her new single, “Rumors,” is set to drop on August 13.

She shared a promotional image for the song, which features her in a flash gold dress and equally shiny gold jewelry, giving a “shh” sign with her hand. She captioned the post, “NEW ERA B*TCH. ‘RUMORS’. 8/13.” Her post doesn’t indicate that “Rumors” is a song, but Lizzo’s website and pre-order pages do.

She more-than-suggested a few days ago that Mark Ronson is working on her album, saying in a TikTok video in response to a fan question, “A album? Absolutely not, I’m not making no f*ckin’ album! I’m not in a studio. This isn’t Mark Ronson. This isn’t a whole board. I’m not hanging out with songwriters like [Philip Lawrence of Bruno Mars songwriting/production team The Smeezingtons]. [laughs] I’m not making a f*ckin’ album! Where you get that from?”

This comes ahead of a busy stretch, as she’s set to perform at festivals like Bonnaroo, Firefly, and the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival.
