Subjects of Normski’s work range from the first U.K. appearances of LL Cool J, Eric B. & Rakim and Run DMC, to N.W.A, hanging out with Ice Cube in South Central LA, visiting the pioneers of techno in Detroit and capturing the explosion, and subsequent growth, of hip hop in the U.K.
As a young, Black photographer at the time, Normski wasn’t just taking pictures, he was part of the movement itself. Normski: Man with the Golden Shutteris the FIRST book that takes his most iconic images (several of which have been featured in the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture!) and surprising stories (it was Normski who introduced Run DMC to The Pet Shop Boys) into a glorious coffee table book that offers us a glimpse into hip hop history through his lens.
Machine Gun Kelly has always been known for his tattoos, but this week, he revealed what might be his most jaw-dropping one yet: a blackout tattoo that covers the vast majority of his upper body including his chest, torso, and arms.
The tattoo, which he shared with his followers on IG on Tuesday, is mostly solid black ink with a few small lines that allow his prior tattoo work to peek through. Two negative space lines up top merge with a vertical black line down the artist’s torso to give the appearance of a cross.
The IG post simply read “For spiritual purposes only” and then tagged his tattoo artist, @roxx__ who also shared another picture of MGK on their account. The tattoo artist appears to specialize in bold, black works that emphasize the use of heavy and dark lines to create stunning visuals.
As of Tuesday evening, all other photos on MGK’s IG account appear to have been deleted.

The Newark Museum of Art (NMOA) is proud to announce the highly anticipated opening of its latest exhibition, “The Story of Newark Fashion: Atelier to Runway,” set to debut on February 22, 2024. This landmark exhibition, in development since 2021, marks the museum’s first large-scale showcase dedicated to contemporary American fashion, celebrating the rich cultural heritage and enduring legacy of Newark’s fashion scene.
Featuring the works of 11 fashion designers with strong connections to Newark, including iconic names such as Narciso Rodriguez, Stephen Burrows, and Project Runway finalist Shavi Lewis, the exhibition pays homage to the city’s deep roots in the garment and jewelry industries. Through a curated selection of designs, archival footage, and oral histories, “The Story of Newark Fashion” highlights the city’s pivotal role in shaping the global fashion landscape.
At the heart of the exhibition lies a simulated runway display, showcasing the groundbreaking designs of Newark-born Stephen Burrows. Renowned as one of the defining designers of disco-era fashion, Burrows’ influence reverberates through the fashion world. Nine of his garments, symbolically “walking” the runway in Paris, pay homage to his historic presentation at the Battle of Versailles in 1973, a watershed moment in fashion history.
In addition to Burrows’ contributions, the exhibition explores Newark’s rich history as a hub for creativity and innovation in the world of contemporary fashion for over 75 years. From the ateliers of trailblazing designers Wesley Tann and Emily Miles in the 1950s and 1960s to the contemporary designers shaping the industry today, Newark’s fashion legacy is celebrated and contextualized within the global fashion narrative.
Guest-curated by Kristen J. Owens, a historian of Black fashion, with Tracey “Africa” Norman serving as a curatorial advisor, the exhibition offers a comprehensive look at Newark’s fashion evolution. Norman, an international star of the runway and Newark native, lends her expertise and personal insight to the project, further highlighting the city’s enduring influence on fashion.

177.5 ML of oat milk (any nondairy milk will do) ½ teaspoon apple cider vinegar 172 grams cake flour 150 grams organic cane sugar (avoid overfilling your cup to prevent overly sweet cupcakes) ½ tablespoon baking powder 3/8 teaspoon salt 56.5 grams melted vegan butter (unsalted) ½ tablespoon pure vanilla extract (opt for high-quality vanilla for the best flavor)
Instructions:
Prep the “Buttermilk”: Combine the oat milk and apple cider vinegar in a bowl to create a vegan buttermilk. Allow it to curdle, setting the foundation for your cupcakes’ moist texture.

Felicity loved the private double-deck cabana featuring a plunge pool, while and I indulged in an Agave and Aloe Massage. A unique experience full of surprises that left me feeling refreshed and revitalized.

We savored delicious beachside dining at The Reserve Restaurant where each dish created a one-of-a-kind experience.
