Lewis Hamilton has finally addressed the news of his shock move to Ferrari for the 2025 Formula One season. “I feel incredibly fortunate, after achieving things with Mercedes that I could only have dreamed of as a kid, that I now have the chance to fulfil another childhood dream. Driving in Ferrari red,” Hamilton said in a lengthy post on X, formerly Twitter.

However, Hamilton also acknowledged it was a bittersweet moment. “Mercedes has been a huge part of my life since I was 13 years old, so this decision has been the hardest I’ve ever had to make. I’m incredibly proud of all that we’ve achieved together and I’m very grateful for the hard work and dedication of everyone I have worked with over the years and of course Toto, for his friendship, guidance and leadership. Together we have won titles, broken records and become the most successful Driver-Team partnership in F1 history. And of course I cannot forget Niki who was a huge supporter and who I still miss everyday,” Hamilton wrote. Since joining F1 in 2007, Hamilton has always been involved with Mercedes in one form or another.

A bombshell announcement has rocked Formula One as long-time Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton is expected to join rivals Ferrari for the 2025 season. Hamilton is signed to Mercedes through the 2025 season following a contract extension last year. However, a deal that is “as good as done” will now see Hamilton replace young Spanish driver Carlos Sainz next year. Sainz finished seventh in the 2023 season standings. Hamilton finished third behind a dominant Red Bull 1-2 from Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez.

It is believed that Hamilton is seen as Ferrari’s best chance to win a Drivers’ Championship for the first time since 2007. The hope is that pairing him with Charles Leclerc will finally end the iconic team’s lengthy drought. Once the most dominant team in F1, Ferrari has been blocked by Mercedes and now Red Bull. The departure of Sebastian Vettel in 2020 ended a nearly 25-year run of Ferrari rostering at least one world champion. A formal announcement is expected later today.

Kid Cudi Becomes F1 Superfan After Meeting Lewis Hamilton

Kid Cudi has developed a new passion – Formula One. The rapper caught his first Grand Prix over the weekend, hitting up the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium to support Lewis Hamilton. “Pulled up to support my boy @LewisHamilton since I was in town. @F1 @MercedesAMGF1 first race Ive ever been too, thanx to Mercedes for holding it down 🙏🏾💕👽🚀,” Cudi tweeted alongside a picture taken in the Mercedes hospitality area. Cudi was in Belgium in order to perform at the Tomorrowland Festival in Antwerp, about 100 miles from the F1 track.

Further posts from Cudi showed the musician getting an up-close look at Hamilton’s car, which The Moon Man referred to as a “spacecraft”. Cudi also posted up with the Mercedes pit crew and posted some short videos from the race itself. Hamilton finished fourth as Red Bull’s Max Verstappen won his eighth consecutive race.

Cudi took to Instagram after the race, posting more pictures from his time in Belgium, including several with Hamilton himself. “🙏🏾💕✌🏾 Such a blessing seeing my guy do his thing today. Lewis, U are a very special human, it was truly an honor. Congrats on an epic race my friend. Looks like im hooked, ima have to start watchin more races. Gotta support u brother, the love is mutual. Thank u for takin care of us man!! Enjoy that MOTR pack!!,” Cudi added as a caption.

However, Cudi will have to wait a while to enjoy any more F1. Belgium marked the last Grand Prix before the summer break. Racing will recommence on August 27 with the Dutch Grand Prix at Circuit Zandvoort. It’s the penultimate European Grand Prix of the season, with the series heading to Asia following the Italian Grand Prix on September 3. Perhaps Cudi will head back to the Mercedes garage when F1 comes to North America later this year. While the Miami Grand Prix was held back in May, the main North American leg begins with the US Grand Prix on October 22. The 2023 F1 calendar also features the debut of the Las Vegas Grand Prix on November 18.

Coincidentally, Shakira is constantly captured several times alongside Tom Cruise. Although there is a possibility to be spotted together, fans could not help but notice how close they are while attending the race. Sources close to Shakira have shut down the rumors as quickly as they began. Their appearance together was by “coincidence” due to them sharing a mutual friend.

IDK Breaks Boundaries On The Eclectic, Jazz- And Racing-Themed ‘F65’

IDK is one of the most creative rappers working today. But more importantly, he knows how to apply that creativity to his new album F65. The follow-up to 2022’s Simple expands the sonic palette but retains the incisive focus, pairing IDK’s unique outlooks with experimental production that pushes the boundaries of the familiar.

F65 feels like an evolution of IDK’s 2021 album USEE4YOURSELF, which now seems as though it was a dry run for the kind of eclecticism the Maryland rapper wanted to embrace then, but only recently mastered his impressive well of creativity enough to grasp. While he may never truly shake some of the most common criticisms against him (I mean, he can’t change his voice, but he can certainly use it better than his doppelganger Kanye), he certainly transcends them here.

The binding theme of F65, as you could probably guess from the cover, is Formula 1 racing. However, there’s also an unexpected thread throughout: IDK’s burgeoning appreciation for classic jazz. As he explains in the interlude “Champs-Élysées,” this stems from his grounding practice of “driving fast” playing jazz. The unusual pairing of energies is perfect for IDK, whose entire life and career have been shaped by the pairing of paradoxes.

Contrasting truths and the tension between them are the core of IDK’s personality. He’s a self-declared middle-class kid who embraced the streets in an effort to live up to social expectations of Black masculinity. While he details that experience on his debut album IWasVeryBad, he reiterates and distills those motivations here in the thundering “Paperchaser.”

He also attacks the question of the friction between the above-mentioned expectations of Black masculinity and the fear of femininity on “Pinot Noir,” ceding his spotlight to Saucy Santana and Jucee Froot. This is a duo I’d love to hear more of; Santana defies conventions by being a loudly-out gay man while embracing many of the dynamics of gangsta rap. Yes, he carries a purse, but he also carries a gun in that purse. Watch your tone.

While IDK is far from what you’d consider a “conscious” rapper, he shows his awareness of systemic and social problems in far subtler ways. The F1-themed interludes focus on commentary revolving around Lewis Hamilton, a champion driver who nonetheless feels the strain of being one of the only Black drivers on the circuit. He’s faced discrimination in spite – or perhaps because of – his success, while carrying the weight common to all pioneers in traditionally white spaces.

That isn’t to say that IDK doesn’t address the tribulations of Black life head-on when he needs to, though. “Mr. Police” is a prime example, borrowing the familiar refrain coined by NWA decades ago; in typical IDK fashion, however, he turns the song into a jazzy deflection of the more casual racism involved in his interactions with the law – the most common kind, the ones that don’t end in bloodshed, but cost Black folks in other ways.

If there’s a thesis here, it’s in IDK’s love of his Blackness. From dipping his toes into a dizzying variety of Black musical genres – Afrobeats, Jersey club, the aforementioned jazz – to sampling a cluster of classics from Black canon – Michael Jackson’s “Can’t Help It,” Carl Thomas’ “I Wish” – IDK gives a musical lesson in Black history. He talks up his love for Black women on “Still Your Man” and “Superwoman,” receiving advice on life and love from no less an authority than Snoop Dogg. By the final song, “Freetown,” a four-minute jazz instrumental, the message is clear: It’s all Black, and we shouldn’t be limiting ourselves to any one genre or interest. We are many things.

Moreover, he is a father to Rihanna’s child. In fact, the couple has a new child on the way as they continue to grow their family. Needless to say, things are going very well for Rocky. He has every reason to be excited about life, and you have to love that for him. However, we’re sure fans would also love for a new album to be released.

Over the weekend, A$AP Rocky found himself in Miami for the Grand Prix festivities. Last year, Formula 1 had its first-ever Grand Prix in Miami. Although fans weren’t happy with the winner, there is no doubt that it was a success in terms of attendance. In the event’s second year, F1 drew a massive crowd and the celebrities were all out and about. As for Rocky, he was a special guest of Lewis Hamilton himself. The seven-time champion Mercedes driver had Rocky join him in the paddock for some fun.

Hamilton and Mercedes have quite the operation going on, so you can imagine what A$AP Rocky got to see. In the clip above, however, you can see Hamilton and Rocky discuss family life. Subsequently, Rocky’s eyes light up when he gets the chance to speak about Rihanna and his baby. Overall, it was a touching moment between two friends. As for the rest of Rocky’s trip, he got to strap on a helmet and look at a Formula 1 car in the flesh. Those cars are massive and they are extremely powerful. One can just imagine what it would take to drive one of them.

As for the race itself, it was won by Lewis’ biggest rival, Max Verstappen. Overall, the Mercedes isn’t as good as it was three or four years ago. Consequently, Red Bull has been dominant. Hamilton finished the race in sixth place, with his teammate George Russell up in fourth. For fans, the race was quite the experience.

Formula One Bans Political Statements From Drivers

Formula One has become one of the most popular sports in the entire world. Thanks to the Netflix docuseries Drive To Survive, more people are enticed in the sport than ever before. Overall, there are some amazing personalities throughout the sport. Additionally, there is plenty of drama to keep you coming back for more.

In 2020, Formula One found itself in the spotlight thanks to numerous drivers taking a stand against racism. Europe has been known for taking a blind eye to these matters, however, drivers like Lewis Hamilton led the charge for drivers to be more politically engaged.

Formula One Reacts

For the most part, Formula One was encouraging these sorts of statements. Hamilton would wear t-shirts that bring awareness to Breonna Taylor, while others would wear “End Racism” shirts. The only time things got dicey was when the sport would go to the middle east, where some countries have poor human rights records.

Subsequently, Formula One has decided to reverse its stance on political statements. According to TMZ, the organization has officially banned any sort of political statements at its races. However, if a player gets a message approved by F1, then they can make it.

This is a fairly shocking decision, however, it was one that was recommended by the International Olympic Committee. The IOC wants to make sports politically neutral, and now, F1 is following suit.
