63 Points Away: LeBron James Inches Closer to Kareem in Win Over Pacers

LeBron James Inches Closer to Kareem in Win Over Pacers

LeBron James is inching closer to surpassing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s scoring record. After a 112-111 nailbiter win over the Indiana Pacers, King James is just 63 points away.

A tracker on NBA.com notes that based on LeBron’s 27.2 points per game scoring average, James would need three more games to break the record. That would project him to do so against the Milwaukee Bucks on Feb. 9. There is a chance it could come sooner with a scoring explosion. King James’ next two games are Feb. 4 against the New Orleans Pelicans and Feb. 7 against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

During the Thursday Night game, James added 26 points and drained a go-ahead 3-pointer with 2:35 left to put the Lakers ahead for the first time in the season.

You can see video below of King James’ latest highlights.

LeBron James Hints At His Future

LeBron James is one of the best basketball players to ever grace the NBA. Over the years, he has shown just how amazing he is. Overall, it is his longevity that could wind up being the greatest part of his legacy. He is 38 years old, and he is still playing some of the best games of his life. Additionally, he is on pace to break Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s scoring title in about three games. Once he breaks that record, it will be hard not to call him the GOAT of the NBA.

Last night, James and his Lakers squeaked out a win against none other than the New York Knicks. For LeBron, it was yet another solid performance as he dropped 28 points. Furthermore, he notched his very first Triple-Double of the entire season. This is something that fans had been waiting for, and he most certainly did not disappoint. Subsequently, James spoke to reporters after the game where he got to talk about his longevity. It was here that he revealed that he is going to be around for a while. “I’m not going anywhere,” he said. “I’m going to be in this league for at least a few more years.”

LeBron James & The Future

LeBron James has always stated that he wants to play with his son Bronny. As it stands, Bronny is playing for Sierra Canyon, and next year, he will be in college. Consequently, there is a good chance that he will be ready for the NBA Draft in 2024. That means LeBron just needs to get through one more season before he potentially plays with his oldest child. From there, if the game continues to bless him, perhaps he will stay and play with Bryce. Overall, it would be one of the greatest stories in the entire history of sports.

As for LeBron and the Lakers, well, things haven’t been going so great. The team is still having a ton of trouble trying to break through in the Western Conference. However, the trade deadline is coming up, which means there might be some time to salvage the season. Let us know how you feel about LeBron and the Lakers’ chances, in the comments below.

Another wrote: “You talking about the lakers? Because if you talking about this current situation bruh nah. Wrong time.”

James also retweeted a post from an MSNBC analyst that wrote: “What’s really clear about some of the reaction to the murder of #TyreNichols is that we’ve failed to fully understand race and it’s construction as a systemic tool. The entire system of policing sees the Black body as a problem. No matter who pulls the trigger.”

“TOO FACTUAL,” James further added.

The video footage of the attack shows all officers repeatedly striking Nichols with their fists, boots, as well as batons for three minutes. Afterward, they rested him against a patrol car and didn’t provide medical aid for another 20 minutes.

The officers involved all face second-degree murder charges as well as charges of aggravated assault, aggravated kidnapping, official misconduct, and official oppression.

Numerous other voices in the NBA have also spoken out on the attack, including NBPA president Chris Paul, who called for change “at all levels.”

LeBron James, Giannis Antentokounmpo to Captain All-Star Game

LeBron James has tied Kareem Abdul Jabbar for most NBA All-Star selections in league history. James’ 19th selection comes just ahead of the Lakers star getting ready to pass the legend for the All-Time scoring record. LeBron will also captain a team in the game. The other team will be led by Eastern Conference voting leader Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks.

James and Antetokounmpo will choose their teams just before the game in Salt Lake City, a fresh twist and a break from previous years, when captains were chosen a week or two before All-Star weekend.

The other eight starters are Denver’s two-time reigning NBA MVP Nikola Jokic, Dallas’ Luka Doncic, Golden State’s Stephen Curry, Boston’s Jayson Tatum, Brooklyn teammates Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, Cleveland’s Donovan Mitchell, and New Orleans’ Zion Williamson.
