Young Thug Trial’s Judge Orders Probe Of Leaked Evidence

Judge Ural Glanville ordered a probe of leaked evidence in the RICO trial of Young Thug and YSL. Moreover, the evidence in question is a surfaced video of a state’s witness offering information in the case in exchange for leniency. Now, the judge ordered an investigation into how that video spread across social media like wildfire. “It affects everyone’s right to a fair trial,” Glanville told attorneys. “I don’t know who did this but if this pertains to you, please amend your ways. You’re playing a very dangerous game with your six-digit bar number.”

Furthermore, jury selection in the developing case is still ongoing, and will reportedly last several months. Following multiple delays and a host of other courtroom and prison incidents, this trial seems no closer to getting started. In fact, the process began over two months ago, and it seems like every week there’s more time added to the estimate. Still, Judge Glanville urged prosecutors and defense attorneys on Wednesday (March 1) to keep evidence secret until the trial. Not only that, but the trial process itself is expected to take anywhere from six to nine months to complete.

Meanwhile, the leaked interrogation video in question surfaced about two weeks ago and was tied to YSL affiliate Lil Woody. Gina Bernard, attorney of codefendant Jayden Myrick, filed a motion seeking a mistrial which Glanville ultimately denied. Moreover, she claimed that publicity and previous altercations make a fair trial impossible for her client. However, the prosecution alleges that the defense leaked the video, as it surfaced less than a month after they gained access.

“The state has absolutely no interest in leaking this video to members of the public,” prosecutors wrote. “Its dissemination serves only to intimidate and harass witnesses called upon by the state to testify in a very serious and high-profile case.” Furthermore, they said that the video put their witness in danger, as many threw out accusations of snitching and rat behavior. Still, defense attorneys maintained that, since prosecutors shared the clip with an unsecured link, anyone could’ve leaked it. Also, Glanville warned that if further leaks occur, he will restrict discovery evidence for viewing in his chambers. Lil Woody Interrogation Leak Leads To Mistrial Request: Report

An attorney for defendant Jayden Myrick, aka SetTrip, in the YSL RICO case, has reportedly filed for a mistrial. The report stems from court documents published by Law&Crime Network executive producer Cathy Russon. In them, Myrick’s legal team cites the recent leak of Lil Woody’s three-hour interrogation video. The leak has been spreading all over social media in recent days. The motion says that a court order previously mandated that discovery material not be shared on social media.

New York Times music reporter Joe Coscarelli posted the motion on Twitter as well. He writes, “The leak of this 3+ hour interrogation video regarding Young Thug and YSL — which is now excerpted on every rap gossip blog in existence (with lots wrong/out of context) — has led to a motion for mistrial today by one of the defendants.” During the video, Lil Woody can be seen appearing incredibly nervous as he speaks with police investigators. He didn’t have his lawyer with him at the time.

The Court Motion

The motion cites an order that states parties involved in the case should not disseminate discovery material on social media. The request explains, “On or about Friday, February 17, 2023, discovery material was disseminated on social media in clear violation of said Order. While said evidence may not directly implicate my client, it along with all of the publicity and courtroom incidents since the start of this trial that have not been the result of any conduct of my client, Jayden Myrick, make it impossible for him to receive a fair trial, as well as a jury that is honestly and truly fair and impartial. WHEREFORE, Defendant respectfully requests a hearing in this matter instanter, and, that the case against him specifically, be dismissed with prejudice.”

Young Thug’s lawyer, Brian Steel, who is not currently seeking a mistrial, says that he’s still “shocked and disappointed”. “The release of this video harms Mr. Williams a great deal. These are just stories,” he told Coscarelli before adding, “We need a trial by a fair and impartial jury.” Cathy Russon says that the parties are at least two months away from finalizing a jury.

Metro Boomin Explains Why Drake’s “Trance” Verse Didn’t Make “Heroes & Villains”

Just as Drake’s leaked verse on “Trance” circulates online, Metro Boomin explained why the version didn’t make the final cut of his new album.

Metro Boomin recently sat down with DJ Drama on Streetz Is Watchin Radio where he addressed the recent leak. Metro explained that the song, which features Travis Scott and Young Thug, was already complete by the time Drake heard it. However, Metro liked how the Heroes & Villains song turned out already but Drake still wanted to record a verse.

“I was in the studio with Drake one time because we were gonna do some stuff for my album. He just wanted to hear some songs from my album, and then he heard that one,” Metro revealed.

Drake was persistent to jump on the song and ended up recording something for it. However, he told Metro that he wouldn’t take it personally if it didn’t make the final cut. He explained he completed the song and had no intentions to alter it.

“I was really just set on how it was. I was like, ‘Bro, I ain’t trying to sell you no dream. I’m locked in where it was,’” Metro recalled. “[Drake] had hit me and was just like, ‘Let me see if there’s anything you could add to it.’ He was like, ‘If you don’t like it, then whatever.’”

“He did some stuff, a couple parts was cool but like I just felt like just even with like Slime verse and Trav verse and the outro, it wasn’t just no room,” he continued. “It wasn’t nothing personal… I just ended up using the original and I guess the other one just leaked or something.”

DJ Khaled previously suggested that no one in the music industry ever criticizes Drake. DJ Drama asked Metro if he was the first person to turn down a verse from The Boy.

There had to be somebody else. Come on, don’t make me the first,” Metro said with a laugh.

Though Drake didn’t land on Heroes & Villains, Metro Boomin landed credits on Her Loss. The Boominati producer contributed to the single, “More M’s.” Hopefully, we hear more music from Metro Boomin and Drake in the future. If it happens, we suspect it’ll come in the form of a collaboration on Future and Metro’s upcoming joint effort. Future recently confirmed it would drop this year so we’ll provide updates on the project.

Joe Budden On Lil Fizz’s Alleged OnlyFans: “I’d Break That Boy”

Joe Budden reacted to news of Lil Fizz’s alleged OnlyFans leak during a recent episode of his podcast. He remarked that he’d have “fizz coming out” of Lil Fizz.

“Aye, Lil Fizz, you’re lucky I ain’t see this news sooner,” he said. “I would have started with this one, buddy. But this why I’ma fight y’all, ’cause y’all have eyes and know some of this is funny. If this n***a got his ass tooted up in the air on OnlyFans, somebody need to know about that.”

He further said: “Do I like skinny people? Lil Fizz too small for me. I’d break that lil boy. I’d have fizz coming out of Fizz, man. Get this n***a outta here.”

Budden has previously referenced being “bisexual” and liking both“boys and girls” on his podcast. The discussion came following DaBaby’s homophobic rant at Rolling Loud Miami in 2021.

In a later appearance on Math Hoffa’s My Expert Opinion podcast, he clarified that he’d rather not discuss his sexuality.

“I’m not ready to share my personal journey,” he said at the time. “I’m not ready to let you guys into my world. Only do n****s in Hip Hop think that’s cool — ‘Yo, I heard you say something. Yeah, you like dick?’ Only in Hip Hop do n****s think that’s not an intrusive question. That is invasive, that is intrusive. That’s my lifestyle to share, not yours. That’s not your place to pull me out of the closet.”

Despite the comments, Fizz says that the man in the video isn’t him. He responded to the alleged leak on his Instagram Story.

“This shit is crazy, the levels these chicks will go to, to try and destroy and ruin you,” he wrote. “Wow unbelievable! Y’all have a happy holiday, that is NOT ME!”
