Kid Cudi Says He’s ‘Pissed And Heartbroken’ That He Was Unable To Collaborate With Juice WRLD Before His Death

More than two years ago, Juice WRLD requested a collaboration with Kid Cudi through a post he shared on Twitter. That tweet arrived months before his breakout hit “Lucid Dreams.” Unfortunately for him, he would never get to work with Cudi as Juice tragically passed away in December 2019 from a seizure that occurred while he was at Chicago’s Midway International Airport.

During a recent interaction with fans on Twitter, the Man On The Moon III rapper expressed his frustration with being unable to work with both Juice WRLD and late Florida rapper XXXTentacion.

“Im really am pissed and heartbroken I never got to link w these guys,” he said. “X and Juice were real ones. Loved what they brought to the game. It was beautiful to witness.”

The tweet came in response to a fan who commended Cudi for embracing “the fallen legends.” He also revealed that a posthumous collaboration with Juice, entitled “Good Times,” exists, but issues with clearing the song have halted its release.

“Who knows man they holdin that song hostage for a check,” Cudi revealed. “I feel like if Juice was alive it woulda been came out. I really dont know.”

All in all, Cudi promised to be more open to working with new artists. “Im no longer gonna be afraid of connecting w cats,” he said. “I always felt like I wouldnt be able to live up to the love. I was always scared. But not anymore.”

Cudi’s tweets come nearly a year after he reminisced about meeting Juice WRLD for the first time at the 2019 Coachella festival.

Kid Cudi Is Not A Fan Of A New TikTok Trend That Uses Lyrics From ‘Day ‘N’ Nite’

A new music-based trend seem to be born every week on TikTok. The social media app has housed favorites like the Renegade, Buss It, and Silhouette challenges, all of which have been supported by the artists whose songs serve as the their foundations. Kid Cudi is the latest act to have his music trend on TikTok, but when he saw the way his song was being used in the videos, the rapper found it hard to show support.

“I dont f*ck w what they did to my song on tik tok takin out the lyrics,” he wrote in a post on Twitter. “We live in a strange time. Im not flattered (shrugging emoji).” The TikToks Cudi is referring to finds users taking the “now look at this” line from Cudi’s 2008 hit “Day ‘N’ Nite,” which is used for a two-part video. In the first part, users recite the “Day ‘N’ Nite” line as the song plays in background. This leads into the second half, in which something bizarre or hilarious happens. A fan responded to Cudi’s tweet and said, “Cudi is goated, but it just ain’t that deep really,” but the rapper pushed back.

“I dont think im makin it ‘deep’ by tweetin how I feel,” he replied. “Now if I was ranting thats another thing. Nothing wrong w me stating I dont approve, plus if u are such a fan, u know my lyrics are most important to me.” Cudi added, “Im passionate about my sh*t so idc who has a problem w that.”

Playboi Carti Tells Kid Cudi His Style Is Inspired By Vampire Movies

When it comes to audacious looks and styles, the biggest boundary pusher in hip-hop right now is arguably Playboi Carti. The Atlantan ad-lib master has delighted fans and befuddled foes with his unconventional looks, the inspirations of which he detailed to Kid Cudi in a conversation for Interview Magazine. While the punk-rock influences are pretty obvious, he says he gets inspiration from another unusual source, as well: Vampire movies.

“I’m a big, big, fan of punk artists like Sid Vicious,” he tells the elder rapper. “I just feel like my lifestyle is so rocked out. This is the lifestyle I live, and I ain’t no damn poser.” Prompted to elaborate on his fashion choices by Cudi, Carti explains, “This shit that I do is not just for the ’gram. It’s not just to make people think I’m weird. This is really me. I get a lot of my inspiration from vampire movies because when you see a vampire, he always looks good. He don’t age. He can’t die. He’s beautiful. I won Best Dressed in high school. That’s what I was on. I did the streetwear sh*t. Now let’s see if I can pop this sh*t that they’re wearing on the runway. If it’s a challenge, I’m doing it.”

He also explains how he comes up with his unorthodox raps on albums like Whole Lotta Red: “Everything is freestyle,” he says. “Shout out Lil Wayne. I use whatever I bring with me that day. If something is stressing me out, I’ll come to dish that. If I’ve been hanging around my street, I’ll make street sh*t that day. No matter the vibe of that day, that’s how I come.”
