Cardi B Wrote And Recorded Her Lyrics For DJ Khaled’s ‘Big Paper’ In Just Two Days

DJ Khaled released his new album Khaled Khaled today, but just yesterday, he changed the tracklist by adding a new Cardi B-featuring song, “Big Paper.” It turns out the song truly was a last-minute affair, as Cardi says she wrote and recorded her contributions to the track in just two days.

In a recent Instagram Live broadcast, Cardi said, “Literally, I didn’t [think] I was going to make the record, to be honest with you. I didn’t [think] I was going to make it. I got the beat before yesterday… and yes, I wrote the record. And I was just like brainstorming, brainstorming […]. One thing I’ve been really insecure about is my accent — I have a really big accent — and my pronunciation. So I was making sure that everything was mixed right. Literally, I think Khaled got the song today […] at 7 a.m. my time. […] I hope you guys like it. It’s just a little something-something to hold y’all up until I release my next project.”

Following the broadcast, Cardi had doubters who didn’t believe that she actually made the song as quickly as she says she did. Cardi responded by sharing a video from Khaled (which she has since deleted), which he filmed on Wednesday and in which he says he’s still waiting for Cardi’s vocals.

Cardi B Silences Her Haters On The Fiery New DJ Khaled Collaboration ‘Big Paper’

Cardi B was a surprise last-minute addition to DJ Khaled’s already guest-heavy new album Khaled Khaled, and her new track is making waves.

Cardi spends a lot of time on Twitter addressing her haters and she does more of that on this song’s hook, rapping, “I get big paper, so I deal with big haters.” She goes on to address how her detractors constantly discussing her is actually good for business: “Cardi this, Cardi that, make me more famous.”

Meanwhile, at the end of her first verse, Cardi gets braggadocios and lets people know that she’s prosperous even outside of music, rapping, “Platinum plaques hang on every wall in my palace / Clips still push, to anybody speakin’ malice / Fashion icon, couple million for my stylist / Five number ones, you got five number nones / Sleepin’ on Cardi, all that nappin’ sh*t done / Off with your hat, all that cappin’ sh*t done / And I got Hollywood waitin’ when this rappin’ sh*t done.”

Cardi became a trending topic on Twitter after the album dropped, so she offered up thanks for her fans, tweeting, “Thank you guys on the support for BIG PAPER .Make sure ya check out @djkhaled album.I just finish listening and I love all the good vibes on the album .Different type of songs with different type of moods.”

DJ Khaled Brings Jay-Z, Nas — And Yes, Beyonce — Together In A Lavish Video For ‘Sorry Not Sorry’

It’s been no surprise that DJ Khaled’s eventful rollout for his 12th album, Khaled Khaled, has been a completely on-brand experience from him. From lengthy social media posts in all-caps to a massive billboard that revealed the album’s release date, Khaled is pulling out all the stops for his new project and the music on it seems to fit the theatrics as well.

One of the first songs to catch people’s attention was “Sorry Not Sorry,” as it sees formal rivals, Jay-Z and Nas, working together alongside James Fauntleroy and Harmonies By The Hive — which many guessed, and correctly so, to be Beyonce.

The track is one that Khaled looks to push fresh off the release of Khaled Khaled as it arrives alongside a lavish video. Jay, Nas, and Khaled himself bring their talents to a casino to lay off luxury verses broken up by a soothing hook from Fauntleroy. Nas and Jay-Z sit with Khaled at a casino table while smoking cigars and most likely placing bets that surpass any amount of money I’ve seen in my life.

Khaled Khaled as a whole is a 14-track effort that sees appearances from Drake, Cardi B, Megan Thee Stallion, Roddy Ricch, Lil Baby, Lil Durk, HER, Big Sean, Rick Ross, Bryson Tiller, and many more. The project originally featured only 13 tracks but Cardi sent in last-minute vocals for her track, “Big Paper.” Khaled Khaled is also Khaled’s first full-length album since 2019’s Father Of Ashad.

DJ Khaled Updates His ‘Khaled Khaled’ Tracklist: ‘Cardi B Vocals Is In!’

When DJ Khaled teased the tracklist for his upcoming album Khaled Khaled, he quipped that not only was the project “100% done,” but that it might be “101% done.” Although fans might have just chalked it up to standard Khaled enthusiasm, it turned out he had one more surprise up his sleeve. Returning to social media just hours before the album’s release, Khaled revealed that he’d updated the already star-studded tracklist with one more big name: Cardi B.

“UPDATED TRACKLISTING ALERT!!,” he wrote. “CARDI B VOCALS IS IN!! ALBUM 101% DONE!!!!” Cardi will appear on a song called “Big Paper,” her first collaboration with Khaled since Father Of Asahd‘s “Wish Wish” with 21 Savage. This time, it looks like she’ll appear solo.

The news may put paid to speculation that Beyonce was also set to appear as a surprise guest on the Jay-Z and Nas collaboration “Sorry Not Sorry” with James Fauntleroy and Harmonies By The Hive — although “Harmonies By The Hive” could still just turn out to be Beyonce, considering her fan club’s unofficial nickname. In honor of the collab between Jay-Z and Nas — their fourth after “Successful,” “Dead Presidents,” and “I Do It For Hip-Hop” from Ludacris’ Theater Of The Mind — Jay curated a playlist of Nas’s greatest songs for Tidal.

Fans Think Clues Point To A Secret Beyonce Appearance On DJ Khaled’s Upcoming Album

DJ Khaled revealed the tracklist for his upcoming album Khaled Khaled yesterday and it features a ton of household names. Now, fans think the tracklist doesn’t explicitly reveal everybody who guests on the album, as there’s a prominent theory out there that Beyonce makes an appearance.

Jay-Z features on the song “Sorry Not Sorry,” alongside Nas, James Fauntleroy, and somebody credited as “Harmonies By The Hive,” which many fans have decided is actually Beyonce.

Rumors have actually been swirling before the tracklist reveal, as Khaled, Beyonce, and Jay-Z were recently all seen together. On top of that, Khaled revealed a few days ago he had to sign an NDA related to the project, which fans believe is related to Beyonce’s purported appearance on the album.

It shouldn’t take long to verify or debunk these rumors, as the album is set to be released tomorrow.

Aside from the aforementioned artists, the album also features 21 Savage, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, Big Sean, Bryson Tiller, DaBaby, Drake, Lil Baby, Lil Durk, Lil Wayne, Meek Mill, Megan Thee Stallion, Migos,, Puff Daddy, Rick Ross, Roddy Ricch, HER, Jeremih, Justin Bieber, Justin Timberlake, Post Malone, Barrington Levy, Bounty Killer, Buju Banton, and Capleton.

Hip-hop stars 21 Savage, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, Big Sean, Bryson Tiller, DaBaby, Drake, Jay-Z, Lil Baby, Lil Durk, Lil Wayne, Meek Mill, Megan Thee Stallion, Migos, Nas, Puff Daddy, Rick Ross, and Roddy Ricch fill out the features list, along with R&B standouts H.E.R., James Fauntleroy, and Jeremih, pop stars Justin Bieber, Justin Timberlake, and Post Malone, and reggae legends Barrington Levy, Bounty Killer, Buju Banton, and Capleton.

DJ Khaled Buys A Massive Billboard To Announce His New Album’s Release Date

Subtlety is not DJ Khaled’s forte. The Miami collaboration connector recently finished his new album, Khaled Khaled, and to let the world know, he took out a massive billboard in downtown Miami announcing “Album 100% Done” and revealing the release date: April 30. He has not revealed the tracklist as yet, teasing the reveal in a social media post. The cover art, which Khaled also shared on his active Instagram account, features Khaled kneeling on a prayer rug in a lush, green garden, flanked by his sons wearing matching outfits.

DJ Khaled released his last album, Father of Asahd, in 2019, netting a Grammy nomination for the album’s Nipsey Hussle collaboration “Higher,” recorded just before Nipsey’s death in March of that year. The project also featured the hit “No Brainer” featuring Justin Bieber, Chance the Rapper, and Quavo, the Jay-Z and Beyonce collaboration “Top Off,” which also included Future, and the Outkast-sampling “Just Us” with SZA. Despite having so much star power, though, the album debuted at No. 2 behind Tyler The Creator’s Igor, prompting Khaled to express disapproval at Billboard‘s counting standards after bundle sales of his album were disallowed. A video of Khaled addressing criticisms of his commercial sound went viral when fans attributed it as an attack on Tyler, to which Tyler gave a cheeky reply on Twitter. Meanwhile, some attributed the disappointing result to Khaled’s jumbled rollout, in which many of the album’s singles were released on the same day — after the album itself had actually dropped.

Here’s hoping his next effort receives results more to Khaled’s liking — sure, it’s funny to think of him secretly being a sourpuss over essentially meaningless sales benchmarks, but personally I like the motivational speaker/ultra-positive version of Khaled because the world’s enough of a bitter mess as it is.

DJ Khaled’s Upcoming Album, ‘Khaled Khaled,’ Finally Has A Release Date

Last summer, DJ Khaled revealed his 12th album would be titled Khaled Khaled, after his legal first and last name. While a release date was not shared at the time, some expected that it would arrive sooner than later, especially since he’s released an album every year since 2006, with only three exceptions: 2009, 2014, and 2018. Unfortunately, that increased to four when 2020 concluded without the arrival of Khaled Khaled. Luckily the album is now just days away from dropping, namely April 28.

“ALBUM 100% DONE!” he said in one tweet. “ITS TIME (alarm clock emoji) I TOLD MY TEAM LETS PUSH THE BUTTON!” He also shared the cover art. “This my name. This is my legacy. This my COVER. Time to bring MORE LIGHT,” he wrote before teasing something else that would arrive on the same day. “I have a gift for the world. I can’t wait to share it with you. Let’s talk tomorrow, are you available??”

The upcoming album arrives on the heels of three singles: “Greece,” “Popstar,” and “Sunshine (The Light).” The former two include guest verses from Drake while the third features viral up-and-coming producer Amorphous.
