J Prince Revealed Kanye West And Drake Have Joined The Fight For Larry Hoover’s Freedom

Drake and Kanye West have not seen eye to eye over the past couple of months. The latest chapter in their long-standing beef saw them trade disses over songs from their albums Certified Lover Boy and Donda. West also doxxed the address to Drake’s mansion in Toronto while the Canadian rapper leaked one of West’s unreleased collaborations with Andre 3000. But now, according to Rap-A-Lot CEO J. Prince, they have come together for a specific reason.

On Instagram, Prince revealed that West and Drake have joined the fight for the freedom of Larry Hoover, the co-founder of Chicago’s Gangsta Disciples. “IF YOU FAIL TO PLAN YOU PLAN TO FAIL,” Prince wrote under a picture of himself standing with West, Hoover’s wife Winndye Jenkins, and their son Larry Hoover Jr. “Good plans in the making to free our brother Larry Hoover with the support of @champagnepapi and @kanyewest.”

West previously showed support for Hoover through “Jesus Lord,” off of Donda. At the end of the song, a voicemail from Hoover Jr. can be heard, where he says, “My father has not called any shots from one of the most secure and segregated prisons in the world / And will not, once released, call any shots for the Gangster Disciples.” He adds, “If my father’s intentions were to lead us to death, destruction / Into the Hell that he has had to live in for the past twenty-six years / Man, he would be dead to me.”

Kanye West Reportedly Filed A Trademark For ‘Donda’ In Order To Launch A Line Of Tech Products

It looks like Kanye West still isn’t done with Donda. The rapper has been continuously making changes to the album he released at the end of August, including removing Chris Brown from “New Again.” He’s also looking to use the name for an upcoming tech line. According to legal documents that were obtained by TMZ, West filed a trademark application on September 21 that would allow him to use the album title on a wide array of tech products.

Some potential products that West would include in the line are tablet computers, audio speakers, surround sound systems, smartwatches, smart glasses, wearable activity trackers, protective flip cover for tablets, earbuds, headphones, and wireless headsets for both computers and mobile devices. If things go as planned, West may also look to add wireless receivers that come on jewelry and smart rings, as well as downloadable electronic publications that include books, magazines, journals, brochures, leaflets, pamphlets, and newsletters.

There’s no telling when this tech line would launch, but if it does, it could prove to be a big success. Until then, fans can stay tuned for a possible upcoming collaboration between West, Post Malone, and Fleet Foxes’ Robin Pecknold, as the trio was captured in the studio together. West will also join Mike Dean on the production team for Ghostface Killah’s upcoming album, Supreme Clientele 2, which the Wu-Tang rapper says will arrive in February 2022.

Kanye West Removed Chris Brown From ‘Donda’ On An Updated Version Of The Album

Kanye West is (in)famous for making changes to his albums after they have been released, and Donda seemed especially prone to that given that West claimed his label released the project without his approval. Now, West has indeed made alterations to Donda, some of which are significant, including the removal of Chris Brown from the album.

Users in the r/hiphopheads subreddit noted that two versions of Donda appeared on streaming platforms, one being the original version and the other being the altered edition. Now, though, it appears only one version of Donda remains. As for the changes, fans noted that Brown’s vocals on “New Again” were replaced by new ones from West and the Sunday Service Choir. Meanwhile, on “Keep My Spirit Alive,” a new hook from West also replaces the original from KayCyy. Beyond that, there are some more subtle mixing changes throughout the album.

Brown is of course a controversial figure given his various legal and personal issues over the years, but it’s not clear if that was part of why West removed him from the album or if other factors were in play. West has yet to offer a public statement about what compelled him to make these new Donda alterations.

Kanye West Was Apparently In The Studio With Post Malone And Fleet Foxes’ Robin Pecknold

Kanye West is about a month removed from releasing Donda, but he’s not taking a break after his new album. Over the weekend, he was back in the studio, accompanied by a couple of big-time guests: Post Malone and Fleet Foxes’ Robin Pecknold.

A video of West and Malone in the studio surfaced, in which Malone is thoroughly enjoying Fleet Foxes’ “The Shrine / An Argument” as it plays over speakers. Furthermore, as Stereogum notes, Pecknold also shared a photo of himself and Malone, indicating that they were also together that night.

West and Pecknold have yet to appear on a song together, but Pecknold and Malone (a noted major Fleet Foxes fan) have struck up a friendship in recent years. In a 2020 interview, Pecknold noted that Malone nearly appeared on Fleet Foxes’ album Shore and said of Malone, “He’ll text me every once in a while and it’s always a really fun thing to receive. To have that pop up in my iMessages, it always feels like a glitch in the Matrix or something. […] He’s a super sweet guy, he’s a real gentleman, and he’s probably the best melody writer in the business right now, I think. And by some glitch in the Matrix, we have a casual friendship.”

Ghostface Killah Reveals ‘Supreme Clientele 2’ Will Be Produced By Kanye West And Mike Dean

Ghostface Killah’s last album came in 2019 with Ghostface Killahs, a 14-track effort with features from Method Man, Inspectah Deck, Cappadonna, and more. Now,the Wu-Tang rapper is ready to release his fourteenth album. He hopped into Reddit’s HipHopHeads forum and revealed who would handle production on his upcoming album, Supreme Clientele 2. “SUPREME CLIENTELE 2 IS EXECUTIVE PRODUCED BY: KANYE WEST, MIKE DEAN & PRODUCERPLUGUNI.COM, RELEASE DATE: FEB 2022,” he wrote in the post.

That means fans won’t have long to wait.

Ghostface has recently been looking backward, as well as forward. During an interview with Vulture, Ghostface spoke about Supreme Clientele and some of his intentions, or lack thereof, behind songs on the album.

“When I was rhyming on ‘Nutmeg’ and ‘One’ on Supreme Clientele, I made a style that I couldn’t even tell what it was,” he said. “I just wanted to use some words that sounded good with each other and everybody’s trying to decipher what I mean when, really, I don’t even know what it means because I had no beat.” He added, “But something said, ‘Make a record. Write a verse real quick just putting words together, whether they mean something or not. Just put them together.’”

The announcement comes months after Ghostface put on a show with Raekwon for a Verzuz battle back in February.
