“The Daily Show” Reveals Its Next Slate Of Guest Hosts

Comedy Central has confirmed and set dates for the next five guest hosts at The Daily Show. Per Comedy Central, guest hosts have been holding weekly residencies on the program since Trevor Noah exited the show on December 8, 2022. Chelsea Handler is hosting the show this week. This is only her most recent late-night guest hosting gig after she filled in for Jimmy Kimmel in June of 2022. Sarah Silverman is set to host The Daily Show next week, on February 13.

As for the now extended list of comedians hosting The Daily Show, it is full of talent and obvious hilarity. Hasan Minhaj (The Patriot Act) will cover the week of February 27. After that, Marlon Wayans (White Chicks) will take the following week of March 6. Kal Penn (Harold & Kumar go to White Castle) will host the week of March 13. Al Franken (Saturday Night Live) will take on the week of March 20, and John Leguizamo (Violent Night) will host the week of March 27. Comedy Central will announce dates for more guest hosts, including The Daily Show correspondents and contributors, in the next few weeks.

Comedy Central is keeping an open mind in terms of who will succeed Noah as permanent host, according to Deadline. Also, the network is considering hosting duos and trios. Particularly, Comedy Central is considering some of the Daily Show correspondents for the promotion, possibly even in a team of hosts for the show. For instance, Roy Wood Jr. and Desi Lydic are being considered as a hosting duo. Other correspondents include The show’s other correspondents include Ronny Chieng, Michael Kosta, Dulcé Sloan, and reporter Jordan Klepper.

The switch to a duo or group cast would give The Daily Show a unique edge in daily late-night television. Moreover, this would also give the show a fresh look as it has historically only held one host (John Stewart, Stephen Colbert, then Trevor Noah). It would give The Daily Show a Saturday Night Live ‘Weekend Update’ energy that fans of late-night television generally adore. Whatever the permanent solution ends up being, the permanent host (or hosts) will start in the fall of 2023.

Kal Penn Is Serious About Wanting Cardi B To Officiate His Wedding: ‘I’d Be Super Down’

Kal Penn revealed recently that he is engaged to a man named Josh, who has been his partner for the past 11 years. This was the first time that the actor publicly declared he is gay. As far as the wedding goes, he may have found himself an officiant in Cardi B. Cardi officiated a same-sex wedding in a recent episode of Cardi Tries, so she’s legally able to get Penn and Josh hitched. Penn and Cardi actually went back and forth on Twitter recently and seemingly made plans for Cardi to officiate Penn’s wedding. While that could have just been chalked up to a fun Twitter interaction of no real consequence, Penn says that he would genuinely like Cardi to conduct his wedding ceremony.

He and Jimmy Kimmel discussed the situation on Jimmy Kimmel Live! last night, and when Kimmel asked if Cardi is actually going to do the ceremony, Penn replied, “I hope so!”

Penn went on to speak about Indian weddings and how long they can be, lasting for days and days. After Kimmel joked that Penn wasn’t making it easy for Cardi to make that sort of commitment, Penn clarified, “Let me be clear: we need ten minutes of her time.” Penn wrapped up the conversation by noting, “She’s wonderful, I’d be super down.”

Cardi B Might Be Officiating Kal Penn’s Wedding

A few weeks ago, Cardi B was licensed to perform a wedding for a lesbian couple for her show Cardi B Tries… but it looks like that license might be coming in handy again sooner than anyone expected. When actor Kal Penn noticed the “WAP” rapper on his flight, he joked on Twitter that he had a dream she officiated his wedding. However, Cardi somehow saw the tweet and seemed into the idea, wondering why the Harold & Kumar actor didn’t say hi — and suggesting that she was open to actually performing the ceremony.

When Penn responded explaining that Cardi’s “do not disturb” light was on and enthused about the idea, Cardi had just one response: “I’m down I’ll get my suit.”

Sometimes, Twitter can be good.

Kal Penn announced his impending nuptials to his longtime partner earlier this week in addition to officially coming out as gay. In his upcoming book You Can’t Be Serious, he details how the couple unexpectedly became close after his NASCAR fan partner Josh got him hooked on the sport as well.

Meanwhile, Cardi’s interactions with fellow celebrities continue to amuse and delight fans on the internet. Prior to her interaction with Kal Penn, Cardi and Penn Badgley of Netflix’s You had a cute back-and-forth resulting in the two stars swapping their profile pics to photos of each other.
