JID Shares His ‘The Forever Story’ Tracklist, Which Is Packed With Surprise Features

JID’s third album, The Forever Story, is less than a week away from release. Naturally, it’s a perfect time to share the album’s tracklist. However, it looks like the Atlanta rapper wants fans to focus on checking out the music rather than worrying about guest stars. So, the tracklist he posted on his social media feeds only shows the guests we already know from the previously released singles “Surround Sound” (21 Savage, Baby Tate) and “Dance Now” (Kenny Mason). It also cleverly has the title of the removed outro song “2007” crossed out.

Being especially tuned into the musicality of his production though, JID does choose to highlight the beatmakers that participated in the album’s completion. Along with JID’s go-to producer Christo, The Forever Story also includes production by 2One2, Aviad, Badbadnotgood, Benji, Cardiak, Childish Major, DJ Khalil, DJ Scheme, Groove, Hollywood Cole, James Blake, JD Beck, Monte Booker, Thundercat, and more. As far as those guest features are concerned, it’s probably safe to assume that at least some of them will be members of his Dreamville and Spillage Village families. It’ll be fun to see who the obscured names belong to, especially after JID theorized that “bigger artists” are “scared” to work with him. Did any of them rise to the challenge? I suppose we’ll see this Friday.

The Forever Story is out 8/26 on Interscope/Dreamville. You can presave it here. Check out the tracklist below.

JID Shares His Rap Journey In New Visualizer For “2007”

JID

With his upcoming album dropping next Friday, JID served his fans a very interesting visual for one of the album’s tracks. The “Dance Now” rapper posted a video on Instagram that previews a new song and hints at a new documentary. The track is called “2007,” and it features Dreamville co-founder Ibrahim Hamad, JID’s father, […]

JID Shares ‘2007’ Featuring His Father, J. Cole, And Dreamville’s President Ibrahim Hamad

JID is officially in album mode with the recent single “Dance Now” featuring Kenny Mason out now and the announcement that The Forever Story is looming. A sad reality for many album cycles comes in the form of difficulties clearing samples, which often hinders the inclusion of certain records entirely or the way the artist would like them to. Today (August 18), in lieu of sample issues on his upcoming album, JID shared “2007,” which was meant to be his album outro, featuring his father, labelmate J. Cole, and Dreamville President Ibrahim Hamad.

The Atlanta rapper primed listeners for the moment by requesting they turn on his post notifications for 8:00 P.M. EST. He then shared multiple promotional videos followed by the official link to “2007.” This is a special release for many reasons, namely the fact his father has a snippet on the song the very same day they are celebrating his birthday.

Additionally, Ib and Cole both speak about discovering JID and how he has evolved over the years. And, of course, JID has yet another impressive display of lyricism and storytelling. The wait for The Forever Story appears it may be more than worth it after this drop.

JID Nearly Signed With Quality Control Before Choosing Dreamville: ‘I Was About To Be The Fourth Migo’

JID, who is currently in the middle of promoting his upcoming third studio album, The Forever Story, has had a fascinating and impressive career trajectory. You could argue that this is due in large part to his status as a member of J. Cole’s Dreamville roster, where his artistic vision has been nurtured and protected. But his career could have gone much differently; he recently revealed that he was nearly signed to a different label instead: His hometown Atlanta’s own Quality Control Music, which boasts City Girls, Lil Baby, and Migos as members.

During a quick interview on the street with TMZ, JID recalled how he ended up on the Dreamville roster instead of Quality Control. Watching the video below, you can tell he’s a little shy to be giving an impromptu interview, which begins by noting J. Cole chose to sign with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation rather than 50 Cent’s G-Unit. But when asked if he had done something similar, he admitted, “We was about to sign with Coach K, though. That’s my dog.” He also joked that “I was about to be the fourth Migo.”

So far, that choice has worked out for him; ever since releasing his debut The Never Story in 2017, his star has steadily risen. He garnered even more attention with his 2018 follow-up, DiCaprio 2, and his group project with Spillage Village, Spilligion. Now, he’s on the cusp of dropping what could be his biggest release yet after collaborating with pop stars like Doja Cat, Imagine Dragons, and John Legend and standout performances on Dreamville’s compilations Revenge Of The Dreamers III and D-Day: A Gangsta Grillz Mixtape.

Judging from the response to his Forever Story singles “Surround Sound” and “Dance Now“, the album may be the one that skyrockets JID into the spotlight for real, putting him on an even footing with his would-be bandmates Migos — who have their own music dropping (separately) soon, as well. The Forever Story is due 8/26 via Dreamville/Interscope. Pre-save it here.

JID Finally Shares A Release Date For ‘The Forever Story’ And It’s Coming Sooner Than You Think

Hot off the release of his latest single, “Dance Now,” rapper JID has announced the release date for his long-anticipated third studio album, The Forever Story. The album marks his first album in four years, following the release of his sophomore album, DiCaprio 2 in 2018.

Set to drop later this month, The Forever Story contains collaborations with Kenny Mason, 21 Savage, and Baby Tate. The Dreamville rapper was also reported to have been working in the studio with Dr. Dre earlier this year.

Last fall, JID collaborated with Imagine Dragons for a song called “Enemy,” from Arcane League Of Legends. The song peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100. He spoke with Billboard about the success of the song, and later dived into his upcoming album.

“This next album [The Forever Story] is the best sh*t I’ve ever done in my life,” JID said. “Every step I’ve taken was worth it, and our blocks are building.”

Earlier today, JID revealed the album’s cover art, which was shot by photographer Naskademini. On the cover, JID is seen standing in the middle of a crowd containing people from all walks of life.
