Da Brat Welcomes Baby Boy With Wife Jesseca Dupart

Da Brat and her wife, Jesseca Dupart, have welcomed their first child together, a baby boy born on July 6 in Atlanta. Da Brat confirmed the news to PEOPLE, revealing that the baby weighed in at 7lbs, 8oz, and measured 20in long.

“I can’t BELIEVE he came out of me!” the star told PEOPLE. “Feels like a dream. He’s PERFECT in every way.” As for how she is feeling, she added: “Very appreciative for such a blessing of our bundle of joy. This journey has been more amazing than we could’ve ever imagined.”

The two also confirmed that the baby’s name is True. “His name had been True Legend Harris-Dupart but now that we’ve met him we are tempted to name him PERFECT,” Dupart joked. In a post on Instagram, They added that they are “overwhelmed with love, very appreciative for such a blessing of our bundle of joy. This journey has been more amazing than we could’ve ever imagined.”

Together, the two used sperm from an anonymous donor as well as an egg from Dupart. They announced the pregnancy while also revealing that they had initially suffered a miscarriage. “I had never been so excited about something that I didn’t even know I wanted,” Da Brat said at the time. “I fell in love with the idea and then it was all snatched away from me. Luckily, we still had quite a few of her eggs left.”

The two recently celebrated the pregnancy with a Minons-themed baby shower. “Yesterday was our #MINION themed baby shower SOOOOO MUCH LOVE IN THE BUILDINGit was so much fun with friends and family,” the couple posted on social media. “We love all of you that celebrated with us.”

Da Brat & Jesseca “Judy” Dupart Explain Using White Sperm Donor

Da Brat And Jesseca “Judy” Dupart have explained their decision to use a white sperm donor for their pregnancy. During an interview with The Root, the two revealed that finding a Black sperm donor has proven to be incredibly difficult. After narrowing down from thousands of candidates on the basis of Judy’s genetic screening, only one remained who was Black.

“And that [dude] looked like Jiminy Cricket,” Brat joked. “I was like, ‘I’m sorry but that wasn’t gonna be my choice.’” She further added: “Because we didn’t have a lot to choose from, he definitely wasn’t Black. But I think we did a great job with picking. He’s handsome, he’s tall and I think he’s going to look beautiful with my wife’s egg.”

When the comments were picked up by the Instagram page Baller Alert, many users took issue with the explanation. Some even accused them of lying. Dupart later posted a lengthy comment in response. “TO BE CLEAR – for all those that are not aware of the MANY things we weren’t aware of, here it is: black men make up less than 5% of the donation pool,” she wrote. “Furthermore with genetic testing ( that is SPECIFICALLY for looking into the diseases that humans carry ) and inputting my stats in ALL of the cryo banks -it went from THOUSANDS to about 300 and of that only 1 was black – and he also unfortunately wasn’t a perfect match.”

She continued: “So we actually waited a few weeks to see if the pool increased – but unfortunately with the time frame we had to choose within 6-8 weeks and there was no more new black donors that fit within the perfect fit with my genetic testing. Hopefully this HEADLINE that people are running with will EDUCATE more people that there’s a HUGE gap in the sperm pool. This year, rapper Da Brat and her wife Jesseca “Judy” Harris-Dupart shared their pregnancy journey in season 3 of their WeTV series “Brat Loves Judy.” The ‘Funkdafied’ MC and haircare owner began their IVF journey and selected a sperm donor. The couple just revealed they will be welcoming a biracial baby boy into the world after selecting a white sperm donor to conceive their first child together.

Last week, the show followed the rapper and haircare mogul as they began their IVF journey and selected a sperm donor. The happy couple was excited to begin the process but Brat and Judy were disappointed to learn how small the pool was for Black sperm donors.

Their doctor, a Black woman doctor by name of the Doctor A addressed the issue behind the lack of Black donors.

“This is an issue. Unfortunately, there just aren’t enough Black donors,” Doctor A says. “Black sperm donors. Black egg donors. Unfortunately, the pool is limited.”

In a  sneak peek from this week’s episode, the couple decides on which sperm donor they’ll go with from the different cryobanks they could choose from. But the matches dropped after pairing donors.

“We had to find a donor that was negative of the four different things that I’m a carrier of that actually reduced our candidates by like 90%,” Judy explained.

Of the options they were left with, only one was Black and Brat called out how the only Black donor looked like the “Jiminy Cricket” cartoon character.

As a result, Brat and Judy selected a white sperm donor and will be welcoming a biracial son after confirming the baby’s gender at a reveal party last month.

”But I think we did a great job with picking. He’s handsome, he’s tall and I think he’s going to look beautiful with my wife’s egg.”

Congratulatory messages are pouring in for Da Brat and her wife, Jesseca Dupart, who are expecting their first child together. The couple has embarked on a fertility journey met with highs and lows, and today (February 21), they shared their big news. The announcement arrived via PEOPLE, and in the feature, Brat showed off her growing baby bump. “It’s been quite a journey,” the 48-year-old said. “There’s a lot of stuff we learned about women over the age of 40.”

Brat said she and Dupart began discussing having children because of a business move. Dupart owns and operates the mega-successful Kaleidoscope hair care brand, and she partnered with Brat for a new line. They joked about expanding their family, and soon, the conversation about having children became more serious. “Then we got a huge response. It was like, ‘Oh my God do we want to actually have kids, and if we do, girl, we better hurry up!’”

Da Brat Never Believed She Would Be A Mother

Brat admitted that when it came to motherhood, she counted herself out. In fact, it wasn’t something she considered until marrying Dupart. “I never thought I was going to have kids,” she said. “I just thought it wasn’t in the cards for me. I’ve had a great career, a full life. I felt like, because I didn’t get pregnant earlier on, then it just wasn’t going to happen for me.”

However, as love often does, it shifted Brat’s dreams for the future. Soon, she claimed, she began “looking at life so differently.” Being in love caused her to see that she wanted “a little me with you,” she said of her wife. “Something special from the both of us that we can share and raise and love unconditionally.” Yet, the idea of carrying a child was almost out of the question. “I was like, nothing’s gonna come out of me!”

Jesseca Dupart Had To Do A Bit Of Convincing

It took many conversations with Dupart to change Brat’s mind. “We had a little tug-o-war in the beginning,” said Dupart. “But I felt like she should have the experience. She is so nurturing.” Congratulations to Brat and Jesseca! Check out photos from their pregnancy shoot above and below.

Congratulations to Da Brat and Jesseca. The Grammy-nominated rapper tied the knot with her fiancé, Kaleidoscope Hair founder Jesseca Dupart.

The couple, who are expecting their first child together, solidified their union of love on the numeric 2-22-22 at Horse Mansion in Fairburn, Georgia in a fairy-tale wedding, complete with a horse and carriage.

According to People, the couple married in front 100 loved ones, including Da Brats sister Lisa Raye McCoy, Jermaine Dupri, Rickey Smiley and The Real Housewives of Atlanta stars Porsha Williams, Kandi Burruss, and Eva Marcille.

Shawntae Harris aka Da Brat has been open with her relationship on display for all to see on the couples We network reality show Brat Loves Judy, which is one of the few reality shows centered around an LGBTQ couple.

Their walk down the aisle comes just weeks after the couple announced they were expecting their first child together.

The couple shared the news on Instagram with a photo of Da Brat wrapping her arms around Judy, holding up a heart in front of her fiancé’s stomach.
