SOURCE SPORTS: James Harden Tells 76ers to Build Team and Give Him "Whatever is Left" in New Contract

The Los Angeles Clippers have ended their pursuit of disgruntled Philadephia 76ers guard James Harden. According to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, the Clippers called off the deal during negotiations.

“[The Clippers] tried to trade for James Harden, and that deal didn’t happen,” Windhorst said. “And from what I understand, it was the Clippers who said, ‘Okay, there’s no deal here. We’re gonna move on.’ And while I assume that they could certainly make a deal midseason, I assume that this is what they’re gonna go with.”

This now sets to bring a reluctact Harden into Sixers training camp, making for an unsettling group experience.

James Harden does not like the stories that were released about him over the past couple of days. Hitting Instagram, Harden released an Instagram story blasting the main report from ESPN.

“Y’all gotta chill wit these reports,” Harden wrote. “Imma start reporting shit.”

Harden has openly expressed his desire to be traded from the Sixers, claiming the Los Angeles Clippers are his preferred landing spot.

In a new story on ESPN, Senior Writer Ramona Shelburne details a rocky season in the city of Brotherly Love, where some of his behavior put off then-coach Doc Rivers and Harden’s teammates.

In mid-December, Rivers lit into Harden for taking the final three shots in regulation of a double-overtime loss to the young and lottery-bound-again Rockets, sources said. It wasn’t that Rivers didn’t trust Harden to take the final three shots — he had allowed him to run the offense and call his own number on the final play of regulation by not calling a timeout following a defensive rebound. It’s that the Rockets had no answer for Embiid (39 points) all night and Harden wasn’t shooting well (4-for-19).

When questioned in the film session, Harden demurred, saying he just couldn’t get the ball to Embiid, sources said. These flare-ups between Harden and Rivers continued throughout the season.

After dropping back-to-back games to East contenders, Harden took an early flight to Miami, separate from the team, to enjoy nightlife. The move was stated to be a common practice for Harden but did not sit well with his teammates. A team meeting followed, leading to a win against the HEAT but a run that would include another second-round playoff ousting and Rivers being fired. The main reason Rivers is tossed is believed to be because Harden didn’t want to play for him in the future.

The NBA has fined James Harden $100,000 for August 14 and 17 comments against Daryl Morey and calling for a trade. The NBA’s note states Harden’s comments lead to believe he would not perform under his contract unless he plays for a team different than the Philadelphia 76ers.

The NBA revealed they investigated Harden, including an interview, before arriving at their final decision.

Last month, the Philadelphia 76ers called off all trade talks involving James Harden and stated they would expect Harden to be at training camp. Early Monday morning, NBA Insider Shams Charania shared a video from Harden’s China tour for Adidas in which he blasts 76ers president Daryl Morey. Morey and Harden have a relationship dating back to the Houston Rockets.

“Daryl Morey is a liar and I will never be a part of an organization that he’s a part of,” Harden told those gathered. “Let me say that again: Daryl Morey is a liar and I will never be a part of an organization that he’s a part of.”

On Saturday, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski ended trade talks for Harden, who has a preferred destination of the Los Angeles Clippers. Harden picked up his $35.6 million player option but the Sixers’ request for Harden was too high for most bidders.

James Harden’s $100K Fine Leads To NBPA Grievance

The NBPA has announced that they will file a grievance in response to the league handing James Harden a $100,000 fine. The disgruntled Sixer was given the massive penalty following investigations into comments he made last week. Specifically, the league looked into comments in which he called Sixers GM Daryl Morey a “liar”. Harden’s comments came after Morey announced that the Sixers were ending trade talks about Harden. Additionally, the team said they expected him to play out his one-year player option in Philly.

“We respectfully disagree with the league’s decision to discipline James Harden for recent comments he made, which we believe do not violate the rule against public trade demands,” the NBPA said Tuesday night. “We intend to file a grievance and have the matter heard by our Arbitrator.” The NBA had fined Harden they claimed that his comments were an indication that “he would not perform the services called for under his player contract unless traded to another team.” The league firmed up its stance on public player holdouts earlier this year. The decision came after the agent of Damian Lillard reportedly told teams they should not trade for the Trail Blazers star.

Harden Saga Drags On

With the NBPA filing a grievance, the case will now be heard by an independent arbiter. This individual will determine if the NBA did in fact act unfairly toward Harden in regards to the levying of his fine. That hearing will be announced at a later date. As for now, the next big obstacle for Harden and the Sixers will be training camp. Harden has not said that he will sit out camp. However, the Sixers risk adding a disruptive force to the proceedings. It has definitely been a baptism of fire for new head coach Nick Nurse.

However, the Sixers need Harden at 100% this year. They did very little in the offseason, only adding Patrick Beverley and Mo Bamba as depth pieces. The team very quickly loses its contender status if Harden doesn’t player, or doesn’t play his best basketball. Regardless of how the arbitration plays out, we are far from done with the James Harden saga before the season begins. The Sixers are set to open the 2023-24 campaign against the Milwaukee Bucks.

Kyrie Irving Checks Adrian Wojnarowski For His James Harden Reporting

Kyrie Irving has always been someone who stands up for his fellow players. Moreover, if he believes the media is offering some bad takes or analysis, he will step in and try to set them straight. Although not everyone appreciates this side of Kyrie, most fans love it. There is this antagonistic relationship between NBA Media, the players, and even the fans. That said, it should come as no surprise that the fans usually side with Kyrie whenever he has words for someone over at ESPN.

Today, the narratives are high-flying due to the fact that James Harden just called Daryl Morey a liar. Overall, many believe this is due to the fact that Morey wasn’t fully honest about the contract he would sign Harden to. In the end, Harden got very upset and told people he would never play for Morey again. Subsequently, there has been a whole lot of reporting on this. Below, you can see Adrian Wojnarowski call Harden “disgruntled.” However, Kyrie had something to say about that.

Kyrie Irving Speaks Up

“Is he Disgruntled Adrian??” Kyrie Irving asked. “Or is he holding Darryl Morey accountable for his dishonesty and lack of transparency throughout the contract negotiation process this summer?” Irving certainly makes a good point, although one could make the argument that “disgruntled” is still a fine word to use here. It’s just that sometimes, the context or implication of the word can be disrespectful. Whatever the case may be, Irving just wants to see fellow players get a fair deal.

Kyrie Irving has had his fair share of moments in which he has been described in this way. However, he seems to be doing just fine right now thanks to his latest deal with the Dallas Mavericks. While teamed up with Luka Doncic, it will be interesting to see how that team does this year. In the meantime, we are very interested in what happens with James Harden. James Harden Shockingly Rips Daryl Morey For Being A “Liar”

James Harden is someone who is known for wanting to be traded from teams when the going gets tough. He was traded from Houston and the same thing happened in Brooklyn. Overall, there is a very obvious pattern at play as it pertains to Harden and his trade desires. Typically, he will begin by getting a bit overweight and out of shape. Furthermore, he starts holding out from practices, which makes his team that much more frustrated. Finally, the team gives in and trades Harden as they don’t want to deal with the mess.

Currently, the Philadelphia 76ers are dealing with that situation. Harden has made it clear that he no longer wants to play for the team. However, it is not going to be that easy for him. Reports have indicated that there isn’t much of a market for Harden right now. Consequently, the Sixers have stopped engaging in trade talks. As you can imagine, Harden is not happy about this, at all. In fact, it was reported last night that Harden told a group in China that he thinks Morey is a “liar.” In the clip below, Harden makes it clear he will never play under Morey, again.

The NBA world is in shock over the whole ordeal, and we cannot wait to see how this all turns out. If you’re the Sixers, you have to trade him now.

Although, his stock has never been lower. The Sixers would be lucky to get any kind of return for Harden at this point. Let us know what you think of this situation, in the comments section below. Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for more news from around the sports world.
