Rick Ross Supports Kendrick Perkins “Ja Morant To Miami” Take

There has been a lot of debate surrounding the future of Ja Morant. The NBA is expected to announce a punishment for Morant in the coming days after he was caught on Instagram Live flashing a gun last month. Despite claims from Morant’s team that the gun was fake, the league is expected to hand out a significant suspension.

2023-24 marks the first year of a five-year, $194.3 million extension that Morant signed with the Grizzlies. Furthermore, there is a poison pill trade restriction in place until July 1, if the Grizzlies wanted to trade. However, that hasn’t stopped speculation. Speaking on First Take, Kendrick Perkins said that he wanted to see Morant playing in Miami. “We just got talking about the Miami Heat. That’s the culture and the organization I think he should go to,” Perkins said. “They got the godfather, Pat Riley. There’s nothing that goes down in that city without him knowing about it.”

Rick Ross Offers To Mentor Morant

Morant to Miami is an interesting, if unlikely, proposal. While the organization would likely be a good informative culture for Morant, it’s hard to see them swinging a trade. First, there are Morant’s behavioral issues. Riley runs a fairly no-nonsense organization, so it’s difficult to see him bring in a rehabilitation project like Morant. Second, Miami is already $87 million over the salary cap and eyeing a blockbuster trade to acquire Bradley Beal.

However, the proposed move has gotten very prominent vote of confidence. Taking to Instagram, Rick Ross posted a simple message to his story. “I can mentor #jamorant in Miami’. While somewhat unorthodox, especially given the recent news of Morant rejecting outreach from the likes of Lil Wayne, it could be just what Morant needs. An influential figure like Ross could get through to Morant in a way that an exec or cultural administrator like Riley couldn’t. So, while the move is unlikely, it’s good to know that there are people willing to help facilitate Morant’s rehabilitation, even if that means moving him away from Memphis.

Skip Bayless Claims Ja Morant Ghosted Him After Lil Wayne Asked About Setting Up A Meeting

In a recent episode of his podcast, Fox Sports personality Skip Bayless claimed that Lil Wayne, with whom he has a long-standing friendship, asked if Bayless could set up a meeting between himself and Memphis Grizzlies standout Ja Morant. As Bayless says, while he made an effort, he has yet to hear back from Morant about the opportunity.

“Lil Wayne, I said this on a previous podcast,” Bayless said. “Texted me, he said, ‘Hey, can you connect me with Ja? Because I could help him. I’ve been there. I’ve done all this. I wound up in prison, Rikers Island. I know what happens. I know where you can go wrong, and I know what right.

“I said I’ll try, and I reached out to Ja,” he continued. “‘Would you sit with Lil Wayne? Would you talk with Lil Wayne?’ Wayne would fly to him. He’d fly to Memphis in a heartbeat, tonight. Wayne would private plane it and go right to Memphis if he thought he could save a career and a soul. I got nothing back from Ja, didn’t expect anything back.”

It’s unclear how Bayless was able to get in contact with Morant, who is currently waiting to hear from the NBA about the fallout from its investigation into a recent incident where he waved a gun in a car on Instagram Live. Adam Silver said before the NBA Finals that the league was able to find additional information in its investigation, but explained that it would wait until after the series ended between the Denver Nuggets and the Miami Heat to announce the results.

Lil Wayne is hoping he can be a positive influence on Ja Morant. According to Skip Bayless, one of Wayne’s personal friends, Weezy F Baby, reached out asking to be connected with Morant.

“Lil Wayne. I said this on a previous podcast, texted me, he said, ‘Hey, can you connect me with Ja? Because I could help him. I’ve been there, I’ve done all this, I’ve wound up in prison on Rikers Island. I know what happens. I know where you can go wrong, and I know what’s right,.” Bayless revealed. “I said I’ll try. I reached out to Ja. Would you sit with Lil Wayne? Would you talk with Lil Wayne? Wayne would fly to him, he’d fly to Memphis in a heartbeat. I got nothing back from Ja. Didn’t expect anything back.”

Ja Morant’s team has issued a statement with a suspension likely looming. His team is floating the message that the gun he was seen with on Instagram Live was a toy.

The report came on The Breakfast Club, stating Morant‘s team in Memphis had owned up to the weapon belonging to a relative in the car, but it wasn’t real. The belief is Morant’s suspension would be 30 games.

Ja Morant is on a self-imposed social media break, but Internet monitors have noticed a change in his social profile. According to The Blast, Morant has unfollowed his childhood friend on Instagram after the second Instagram Live gun flash.

The childhood friend is Davonte Pack, the person on IG live who caught Mroant with a gun in the background. Pack would attempt to drop the camera and hide when Morant flashed the weapon.

In addition to unfollowing Pack, Morant also no longer follows the MBNO clothing brand. MBNO was owned by Pack and stands for My Brothers, No Others.

This development comes as the league awaits the conclusion of the NBA Finals to determine Morant’s punishment. During his pre-NBA Finals press conference, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver notified NBA fans of an impending Ja Morant punishment.

Speaking in front of the media, Silver revealed the forthcoming disciplinary action would wait until the Finals were over, not to take away from the on-court work and showcase of the Denver Nuggets and Miami HEAT.

“We’ve uncovered a fair amount of additional information, I think, since I was first asked about the situation,” Silver said Thursday. “I will say we probably could have brought it to a head now, but we made the decision, and I believe the players association agrees with us, that it would be unfair to these players and these teams in the middle of the series to announce the results of that investigation.

“Given that we’re of course in the offseason, he has now been suspended by the Memphis Grizzlies indefinitely, so nothing would have changed anyway in the next few weeks. It seemed better to park that at the moment, at least any public announcement, and my sense now is that shortly after the conclusion of the Finals we will announce the outcome of that investigation.”

Ja Morant Reportedly Refused Skip Bayless & Lil Wayne’s Attempts To Help Him

Ja Morant has been going through a plethora of issues as of late. Overall, it started a few months ago when he flashed a gun at a strip club. However, these issues have actually persisted quite a bit. He flashed another gun while on Instagram Live, and for now, he is being suspended from Grizzlies events. Furthermore, the NBA is planning on delivering a hefty suspension upon Ja. This could be massive, and it will ultimately have some huge consequences on his career.

Now, a lot of people are trying to help Ja and give him some much-needed guidance. Although, it doesn’t seem like Ja Morant is interested in hearing this. According to Skip Bayless, Morant even turned down the help of Lil Wayne. On his podcast, Skip revealed how Wayne reached out to him first. “Lil Wayne texted me,” Skip began. “He said, ‘Hey, can you connect me with Ja? Because I could help him. I’ve been there. I’ve done all this. I wound up in prison on Riker’s Island. [Wayne] knows what happens. I know where you can go wrong and I know what’s right.’”

Ja Morant Wouldn’t Pick Up The Phone

Subsequently, Skip found a way to reach out to the Memphis Grizzlies star. Unfortunately, however, he never actually heard back.  I said, ‘I’ll try.’ I reached out to Ja; ‘Would you sit with Lil Wayne? Would you talk with Lil Wayne?’ Wayne would fly to Memphis in a heartbeat tonight. Wayne would private plane it and go right to Memphis if he thought he could save a career and a soul,” Bayless went on to explain. Needless to say, Ja Morant is keeping things private right now.

Hopefully, Morant is able to turn things around for himself. A lot of people are down on him right now, and it could be a while before he builds that trust back up again. Either way, Skip Bayless nor Lil Wayne will be helping him, anytime soon. Stay tuned to HNHH for more news from around the sports world.

Cam’ron Warns Ja Morant Not To Be Like Him: “You Can’t Rap!”

Cam’ron shared a warning for Ja Morant on Instagram, Sunday night, while reflecting on his own basketball career. In doing so, the Dipset rapper shared a picture of himself on his college basketball team. He explained that his behavior got him kicked out of college, but luckily his musical talents saved him. Cam says Morant doesn’t have that same luxury.

“I was on bull shit in college,” Cam admitted in the post. “I got kicked out for pistol whipping a n***a. (Which I don’t condone) lucky I had a plan B and C. Ja don’t be me you can’t rap!!! Lol as you can see its a lil blurry but it was still the set.”

Cam’ron isn’t the first rapper to speak on Ja Morant’s situation. Lil Wayne also recently made headlines for his comments on the Grizzlies’ star’s behavior. He said on the All The Smoke podcast: “He comes from a town of like 3000 people. What y’all expect? Y’all gave him $200 million. I just said a town with 3000 people. You expect him to be responsible? Nah, we’re tripping then… That’s magic.”

The NBA is expected to announce the details regarding a punishment for Morant brandishing a gun during an Instagram Live video after the NBA Finals. The Breakfast Club‘s Claudia Jordan has reported that Morant intends to argue the weapon was a toy. NBA Commissioner Adam Silver responded to that report during an interview on Dan Patrick Show on Thursday. “It’s something that I’m thinking a lot about because—again, I’m not going to get into the specifics of the investigation—but in fact if you are live-streaming something that to the world looks exactly like a gun in a frankly reckless manner, should it matter whether or not it’s a real gun?” he said. Check out Cam’ron’s recent post regarding Ja Morant here.

Adam Silver Cracks Joke About Ja Morant Gun Incident

On June 8, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver made an appearance on The Dan Patrick Show. Unsurprisingly, Ja Morant was a central point of conversation during the interview. It came just days after representatives claimed that the gun Morant was seen with on May 13 was fake. However, Silver was quick to shut down any debate about the authenticity of the gun.

“It’s interesting,” Silver said. “The very issue for Ja, certainly in the first incident, was treating a gun as a toy. That’s what we’re talking about and that’s what I think the danger is to society. Taking a gun, live streaming it without getting into gun issues in terms of the propriety of owning guns and the use of guns. I think everyone agrees that gun safety is critically important and that guns aren’t toys. “It’s something that I’m thinking a lot about because, again, I’m not going to get into specifics about the investigation. But in fact, if you’re live streaming something to the world that looks exactly like a gun and in a frankly reckless manner, should it matter whether or not it’s a real gun?.” However, that’s not all Silver had to say about Morant.

Silver Makes Joke About Morant

Toward the end of the interview, Silver made a not-so-subtle dig at Morant. After Patrick said he was going to get Adam Sandler to do an anti-carrying PSA for the league, Silver commented that it could carry a “double meaning”. If the dig wasn’t clear enough, Patrick tore down the veil completely as he agreed with Silver. “Yeah absolutely, the Ja Morant Anti-Carrying Policy,” Patrick said.

It was something of a surprising comment from the usually reserved NBA Commissioner. However, reactions to his comments were fairly muted on social media. Instead, people were more annoyed that he chose not to reveal Morant’s punishment only to go on a media tour essentially hyping up the punishment. However, with another interview out of the way, it’s just another day closer to actually learning what the NBA has in store for Morant. Follow all the latest sports news here at HotNewHipHop.

Ja Morant Toy Gun Claims Addressed By NBA Commissoner

Ja Morant is still awaiting to his punishment for a May 13 live stream in which he was seen flashing a gun while driving around Memphis. Commissioner Adam Silver, who was “shocked” by the video, has refused to disclose Morant’s punishment until the conclusion of the NBA Finals. However, the suspension is expected to be lengthy. Many pundits believe Morant will not only be punished for his actions, but also for seemingly rebuking the league. Morant was briefly suspended for a similar incident in March but preached reform and contrition after returning to the court.

However, a report from Claudia Jordan of The Breakfast Club has added a new twist to the saga. Sources from within Morant’s camp told Jordan that the gun Morant was seen with was a toy gun. Furthermore, the sources claimed that the NBA is aware the gun was fake. However, they allege that the NBA is still preparing to hand down a suspension in the range of 30 games. Now the NBA has fired back about these allegations through Commissioner Adam Silver.

Adam Silver Dismisses Significant Of Gun’s Authenticity

Appearing on The Dan Patrick Show, Silver made it very clear where he stood on the new claims from Morant’s camp. But in fact, if you’re live streaming something to the world that looks exactly like a gun and in a frankly reckless manner, should it matter whether or not it’s a real gun?”

It’s clear that the intention of Morant’s camp was to try and sway public opinion. By claiming the gun was fake, they were attempting to downplay the severity of what Morant did. However, that has backfired spectacularly thanks to this collected response from Silver. A basic rule of PR is don’t tee up your detractors. Furthermore, this saga should become a textbook example of what not to do. Silver put his, and by extension the NBA’s, foot down and the latest claims from Ja Morant’s camp may have done more harm than good to his pending case.

Ja Morant’s Gun Was Allegedly Fake But Suspension Still Expected

The fate of Memphis Grizzlies superstar Ja Morant remains unknown. On May 14, Morant was suspended by the Grizzlies after a video of him flashing a gun on Instagram Live went viral. Despite Morant apologizing for the incident, Commissioner Adam Silver expressed “shock” at the video. Furthermore, Silver announced that Morant’s punishment would be withheld until after the NBA Finals.

The incident has completely altered the trajectory of Morant’s career. He has been widely condemned for the incident. Furthermore, police in Tennessee performed a wellness check at Morant’s residence after a cryptic and worrying Instagram post. Elsewhere, Kendrick Perkins suggested that Morant could be better served with a move out of Memphis. Now, Morant’s team is throwing a Hail Mary.

Morant’s Team Claims The Gun Was Fake

Sources within Ja Morant’s camp are claiming that the gun Morant was seen with is in fact fake. These allegations were first reportedly by The Breakfast Club‘s Claudia Jordan. “The relative in the car in the back seat had a toy gun, not real, and was playing around with it and passed it [to Morant] and that got caught on the Live. The NBA has the video and allegedly, the gun looks extremely fake, obviously a toy gun. But according to my source, allegedly, Adam Silver is still going to go through with the suspension, [which is] looking like it’s going to be about 30 games.” However, the news has not been met with much sympathy online. The Breakfast Club panel questioned why the fake gun narrative was only being brought up now.

As previously mentioned, Morant apologized three days after the footage went viral. However, he never previously mentioned the gun being fake or a toy. Furthermore, it’s likely that the news is being leaked in order to try and sway public opinion in favor of Morant. The thinking likely is that public outcry with this new information could say the NBA. However, as many people have noted after the news broke, it doesn’t matter if the gun is fake or not. Morant goaded the NBA with his actions, forcing the league’s hand if they wanted to retain any sort of credibility. At the end of the day, fake or not, Morant is being punished on principle, not because of his specific actions.
