R. Kelly Sues Prison Bureau For Seizing Of His Commissary Funds

R. Kelly is suing the United States government in an attempt to get his commissary funds back. The case stems from a March 2023 ruling, in which the Illinois Supreme Court decided Heather Williams was entitled to access the disgraced singer’s funds. “The defendant is appealing his conviction and the government’s seizure of his substantial Bureau of Prisons commissary account to satisfy the financial penalties imposed in the case,” an announcement of the lawsuit caught by HipHopDX reportedly read. Assistant United States Attorney Kayla Bensing will represent the United States in the matter.

Kelly has faced countless sexual misconduct allegations over the years. In 2021, he was convicted under the Mann Act and for racketeering while a year later, he was convicted for three child pornography charges and three charges of enticing a minor. Kelly’s currently serving a 31-year sentence at FCI Butner Medium I. He’s due for release on December 21, 2045, at the age of 78.

Back in January, Kelly claimed he wasn’t aware that he had lost a $10.5 million lawsuit back in August of 2023. He mentioned facing a high number of cases and switching legal teams as potential reasons for the slip up. In a statement, his attorney, Jennifer Bonjean, said to XXL: “We are absolutely pushing back on the $10.5 million default judgment that was entered against him without notice and without a sound legal justification. It would be simplistic and silly to write that the basis for our motion to vacate the windfall judgment relates solely to his illiteracy (although he is in fact functionally illiterate per formalized testing). The more significant problem is that there was no legal basis to enter the default judgment on the merits.”

Malone was the headliner for the third night of the festival. Earlier in the festival, Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign kicked things off as headliners for a controversial set on Thursday night, while Nicki Minaj took over the event on Friday night. The festivities will continue Sunday with Future and Metro Boomin headlining the final night.

Metro Boomin previously detailed how the collaboration between he two came together during an appearance on the Full Send podcast in 2022. “He called me, and so I came to the studio one day,” Metro said at the time. “The same day, I was supposed to pull up on Quavo, on the same night. So, he called me while I was [working] with Post and said, ‘Where are you? Cardi B Dropped $350K On Her Best Friend’s RICO Case, Star Brim Reveals

Earlier this month, Cardi B’s longtime friend Star Brim was handed a sentence in her RICO case after pleading guilty to one count of conspiracy to maiming and assault in aid of racketeering. The personality was given just over a year behind bars. After that, she’s been ordered to three years of supervised release.

She’s accused of being the “Godmother” of the 5-9 Brims, and was previously arrested in 2020. Star Brim was additionally accused of being involved in the alleged 2018 assault of two women at a Queens strip club. Early on, it had been believed that Cardi was also involved, though later reports revealed that Star Brim was the one who allegedly commissioned the hit.

This weekend, Star Brim took to social media to share a message to those criticizing her for the case and her sentence. “One thing I’m not going to do is let anybody on this internet, or anybody in real life, make me feel bad for getting less time while standing ten toes,” she explained. “Nobody’s going to ever make me feel bad about something like that. Ever. Like, I’m never going to feel bad about that.” She went on, slamming those who she says “want [her] to go to jail so bad.”

“Shoutout to my lawyer,” Star Brim also added. “And also shoutout to my friend that paid for my $350K for that lawyer… Yeah, I had a paid lawyer. Thank you to my friend, thank you Cardi. Ross made the claims last week while streaming with DJ Akademiks. “I wanna announce something but I dunno if I should say it. I did fuck Sexyy Red. It was good. It was really good. She was kinda being the dominant one. I jerked off to it [Red’s sex tape] and that’s what made me hit her up. I’m being for real,” Ross claimed. Red’s initial response was comedic, claiming that Ross had paid her to take his virginity. However, she quickly followed up by denying Ross’ claims.

It is unclear why Red would be under surveillance. However, the rapper is clearly agitated by the alleged attention.

Meanwhile, Red also secured her first solo No. 1 on the Apple Music charts with her new single “Get It Sexyy”.
