Earth, Wind & Fire, The Isley Brothers, Method Man, And Redman Are Among The Next ‘Verzuz’ Contestants

On Saturday, Verzuz made its return with a hip-hop focused battle between Wu-Tang Clan members, Raekwon and Ghostface Killah. The matchup saw fans head on a trip down memory lane through the artists’ respective catalogs, both as solo acts and with their Wu-Tang cohorts.

From Ghostface’s Supreme Clientele and Raekwon’s Only Built 4 Cuban Linx to Wu Tang’s 36 Chambers, viewers enjoyed the battle, which proved to be more of a collaborative affair if anything. Once the night came to an end, Verzuz returned with exciting announcements for the future.

Shortly after Raekwon and Ghostface Killah’s battle concluded, Verzuz announced a string of matchups folks can expect to see over the next couple of months. First, the platform will welcome The Isley Brothers and Earth, Wind & Fire for an exciting Easter Sunday competition on April 4.

“Time to SHOUT for the #IsleyBrothers!” Verzuz said on Instagram, referencing their 1959 debut album, Shout! Less than three weeks later, the Timbaland and Swizz Beatz-led platform will return with a battle between Redman and Method Man for a “How High” special on April 20.

As if the pair of announcements weren’t enough, Verzuz also confirmed an untitled battle on May 8, a “Mother’s Day Special” on May 9, and a “Rematch” during Memorial Day weekend. A “Ladies Night” and two additional untitled battles were also revealed, but their dates were not shared. Participants for these matchups were also withheld in the announcement.

Nick Nurse Fined Hefty Amount After Mask-Throwing Incident

Nick Nurse is one of the more fiery coaches in the entire NBA and he is always making sure to make a case for his players whenever there is a bad call on the court. At times, however, this behavior can be detrimental, especially with all of the safety protocols that are in place right now as a direct result of COVID-19.

Case in point, Nurse was livid Friday night after a call in the midst of a game against the likes of the Utah Jazz. After the match, Nurse claimed the refs didn’t want his Raptors to win the game. Not to mention, at one point, Nurse even threw his mask into the stands in frustration. Of course, the NBA didn’t like this and fined the head coach $50,000.

The NBA is very strict with its mask rules these days and understandably so. In the middle of a pandemic, safety is everything and by throwing your mask into the stands, you are putting people at risk. Not to mention, the NBA hates it when coaches and players critique the referees, so this type of fine should not have come as a surprise.

Moving forward, the Nurse will certainly have to learn his lesson or risk getting fined numerous times over.

JustJohn Takes On The Powers That Be On “City X”

Toronto rapper Just John is a name that’s grown from hometown glory into international recognition and all of the success is well-deserved. The musician has been on a steady grind over the past few years but in the past few months, he’s offered a few collabs as well as his 2020 project, THIS IS FATE.

This week, the rapper slides through with an aggressive genre-bending anthem with “City X.” Reconnecting with frequent collaborator Dom Dias who handles the song’s energetic production, JustJohn’s vocals are hit with a radio filter as he leads the uprising against the system. “Fuck the system, yeah, I know you think I’m ignorant/ We can’t be separate, there’s more of us than them,” he raps on the record.

Peep JustJohn’s latest offering below.

Quotable Lyrics
I’m appalled
If they don’t change the laws, I’mma walk in city hall
Like, tell me what’s the prob?
Step up to the mic with a megaphone
So you catch my tone
Bust you eardrum, watch it blow

Bhad Bhabie Claps Back At Trolls Who Aren’t Here For Her Speaking Out About Alleged Abuse

Late last week, Bhad Bhabie, née Danielle Bregoli, came forward with some pretty serious allegations against Dr. Phil, detailing abuse she had faced at his esteemed rehabilitation center Turn-About Ranch. Another young woman named Hannah first came forward about her experience, alleging she was sexually abused at the center. Catching wind of Hannah’s public plea, Bregoli then came forward with her story as well. While the controversial rapper seemed well-meaning in her efforts, that didn’t stop trolls from criticizing her, accusing her of doing it all for attention. Bregoli is now clapping back at her noisy critics.

“Y’all i’m bout to put this wig on but listen,” she began before going on a rant.  “The video I put out about Hannah, it’s not about y’all liking me, I don’t give a f*ck who the f*ck likes me, it’s not about my hair I don’t care if I had a f*cking 4C wig on, I don’t care about none of that. This damn straight ain’t about no f*cking money cus I ain’t made a dollar from this nor will I accept a dollar from this cus it’s not about money anyways,” she retorted.

Continuing, she explained, “This is coming from the kindness of my heart and me being so passionate about getting places like this shut down because no one should go somewhere seeking help and leave with more trauma. My point of doing these videos and speaking on this is to make girls more comfortable and boys more comfortable. The same way when Hannah spoke out, it made me more comfortable.”

While it’s unclear exactly what the problem people are finding with Bregoli’s well-meaning call for action, she ultimately seems unbothered with the baseless backlash.

She has also presented Dr.Phil an ultimatum, giving him until April 5th to issue a proper apology. “So, Dr. Phil, I’m going to give you from now to April 5 to issue an apology,” said the rapper. “Not only to me, but to Hannah and any other child that you sent to Turnabout or any other program like this, and if you don’t, I’m gonna handle things my way.”

Nike LeBron 8 “HWC” Coming Soon: New Photos

LeBron James has a massive sneaker legacy in the NBA and every single year, he adds to it. While his output with the Lakers has been impressive, there is no denying that his shoes with the Miami Heat were among his best. He had plenty of Player Exclusives at the time, and the Nike LeBron 8 had some of his most flashy. One of those was the “Hardwood Classic” which paid homage to the New York Knicks, as well as the classic Cleveland Cavaliers colors.

In the images below, courtesy of YouTuber ToNYD2WiLD, we now have a fresh look at what this retro will look like. As you can see, the upper is mostly blue, all while orange can be found on the tongue and the laces. There is even orange on the outsole which adds an extra pop of color to the look. The Nike LeBron 8 is one of those LeBron shoes that people love and that won’t change anytime soon, especially with retros like this coming to the table.

A release date has not yet been set for these although early reports say these will drop sometime in the Spring. With this in mind, keep it locked to HNHH for any updates.

Miami Enforces Curfew After Spring Breakers Go Crazy

Around this time last year, people flooded the beaches of Florida in celebration of spring break, despite a global pandemic. You might remember the one gentleman, Brady Sluder, who said, “If I get corona, I get corona... At the end of the day, I’m not going to lewt it stop me from partying.” He ended up apologizing afterward but that doesn’t negate the fact that he was already in Miami as the breakout continued.

Apparently, not many others have learned from last year’s debacle. Thousands of people flooded to Miami to celebrate spring break, specifically South Beach where very little social distancing or mask-wearing was happening. This forced Mayor Dan Gelber to declare a state of emergency and an 8 p.m. curfew that was enforced on Saturday night. Authorities are telling tourists to remain inside their hotel rooms during curfew hours.

“Too many are coming, really, without the intention of following the rules, and the result has been a level of chaos and disorder that is just something more than we can endure,” Gelber told CNN.

Police in Miami Beach made “at least a dozen” arrests after the curfew was put in place while it’s reported that police had to use pepper balls after a fight broke out at a restaurant on Ocean Drive.

The 8 p.m. curfew is expected to stay in effect until Tuesday while roads to Miami Beach from the mainland will be closed at 9 p.m. for the days to come.

Kid Cudi Misses Kendrick Lamar

It’s been years since we’ve heard from Kendrick Lamar. Sure, that sounds a tad bit dramatic but it has been a hefty minute since the Compton star emerged with new music. The launch of pGLang has fans wondering what his next move is while we’ve been hearing more and more about his forthcoming effort through the grapevine. Unfortunately, we haven’t heard anything concrete about his next album.

The follow-up to DAMN. was expected to drop in 2020, the coronavirus pandemic put those plans on hold until the world is restored. It’s unclear if the project will actually drop this year, especially with how volatile the circumstances are in opening up venues again. Needless to say, everyone is missing his presence in the game right now including Kid Cudi who made this very clear on Twitter last night. “I miss Kendrick,” wrote Cudi along with a screenshot of Kendrick’s lyrics from the hook to “Solo Dolo Part II.”

The rapper dove deeper into memory lane as he continued to share lyrics and reminisce of a few highlights from his 2013 effort, Indicud. The rapper also shared screenshots of himself listening to “Mad Solar” and “Lord Of The Sad And Lonely.”

In related news, Kid Cudi is expected to make his appearance on SNL later this month. He also revealed that A Kid Named Cudi is expected to be uploaded to streaming services in the future.

Kodak Black Previews New Track “Drive The Boat” Mentioning Megan Thee Stallion

It feels like it’s been years since Kodak Black has been back with us after his federal prison sentence was expedited by former POTUS Donald Trump, allowing the Pompano Beach native to come back home. He’s maintained a pretty healthy presence on social media since being released, constantly interacting with fans via his Instagram live streams even in so far as joking with them about the clone conspiracy surrounding him. Aside from a few loosies, including a collab with YNW Melly, the rapper has yet to get the ball rolling on his next musical era. It might be arriving soon, however, as the rapper just shared a snippet of a brand new track.

Titled “Drive the Boat,” the rapper shared a preview of the gritty new track via Instagram. He spits on the track:

Roll out the Benz like a bodybuilder/ I shoot a n*gga in the head I face time a n*gga/ I told her man don’t call my phone when I be vibin with her/Drop her a bracelet off the drone cus I’m a fly lil n*gga/Everything I say turn into a quote boy go ask Meg thee Stallion/I ask her let me drive the boat they thought I was Lil Yachty.

While the rapper initially came for Megan thee Stallion for allegedly taking his phrase “drive the boat” without showing him any love, he quickly sidetracked from his initial statements about her.

“Make a whole career off of taking one Lil piece of my sh*t & I B Coming For My Money,” he wrote in a since-deleted tweet about Megan allegedly stealing his “drive the boat” phrase. “Baby ain’t have to go out her way to give my credit but the opportunity came to her.”

He then took a step back from his comments, sending love over to the Houston Hottie instead. “Congratulations Tho Lol I Just Be Bullsh*tting You Good Black Queen I Salute That Shit #KeepItUp,” he wrote under one of her posts.

It’s likely the line meant no harm, but it does seem like he’s taking a stance as the undisputed originator of “drive the boat.”
