J. Cole Divides Hip Hop Fans With Bill Cosby Bar During L.A. Leakers Freestyle

His freestyle has been the talk of the Hip Hop scene today (May 12), but people have been divided over one of J. Cole’s bars. The Dreamville mogul has been carefully rolling out his highly anticipated album The Off-Season and there have been rumors that he’s slated to ball for Africa League’s Rwanda Patriots. To add to the already growing hype coming from Cole’s camp was his L.A. Leakers freestyle that quickly went viral.

Fans picked apart Cole’s lyrics but it was his Bill Cosby line that caught attention. “No Bill Cosby sh*t, if they’re sleeping then f*ck em,” spit Cole. Soon, “Bill Cosby” became a trending topic.

Some didn’t take the lyrics as being that controversial, but social media users were divided. There were those that praised Cole because they considered the Cosby mention to be the hardest bar in the freestyle, while others weren’t as pleased with the television icon’s sexual assault conviction being addressed so loosely. Even as discussions regarding Cole’s lyrics have continued throughout the day, several Hip Hop fans were confused because it certainly isn’t the most controversial line by a rapper.

Still, timeless were flooded with responses and reactions, so we’ve found a few and included them below. Let us know if you think people are being too sensitive or if you believe Cole crossed the line.

Coi Leray Twerks & Turns Up At Club For Birthday: “I’m Still Drunk”

“Don’t let nobody f*ck with your happiness,” Coi Leray tweeted yesterday (May 11), and she certainly has been making sure she, and those she loves, stay drama-free. May 11 marked Leray’s 24th birthday and by the looks of her social media posts, she’s making sure that this one is the most memorable to date.

This season of Coi Leray’s career has been the most successful as her “No More Parties” single gained traction once the Lil Durk remix was released. “Big Purr” featuring Pooh Shiesty didn’t do so badly, either, and her most recent delivery, “Bout Me,” is being praised among the rapper’s fans. Leray has been sharing bits about her birthday bash, including what looks to be a party at a club where cash is being thrown and a twerk session where Leray looks to be enjoying time on a boat in Miami.

Leray isn’t a stranger to showing off her body as she regularly takes to social media to show off dances, TikTok challenges, and her twerking skills. She’s faced criticisms over her shape as she doesn’t host certain curves like other women in the Rap game, but she’s made it clear that she’s not changing a thing. Check out a few posts from Coi Leray’s birthday celebrations below.

Chika Asks Nicki Minaj Stans To ‘Leave Me Alone’ After They Swarmed Her Twitter Mentions

Chika has experienced her fair share of struggles within the industry over the past month. In April, she announced her retirement from music due to the “mental toll” that she endured during her time as an artist. Shortly after, Chika revealed that she attempted to take her own life before decided to not retire from music world after all. Now, she claims that the latest issue she faces comes at the hands of Nicki Minaj’s biggest online stans.

Earlier this week, Chika shared a tweet that clarified her stance on Minaj, which seemed to be previously misunderstood by the fellow rapper’s fans. “I never say her name bc her fans are wild, but I wanna go on record and say I literally have no problem with Nicki,” she wrote. “She paved a way for herself and hella women after her, and I’d never take that away from her. Stans, y’all need to relax.” Unfortunately, the message didn’t seem to stop them as Chika was forced to once again address the issue on Wednesday.

“Yesterday i made a thread explaining that i don’t have any issues with an artist (after months of troll fans telling me to kill myself and randomly popping up everyday in my messages),” she wrote to begin a thread of tweets. “24 hours later, some of y’all are still here, proving my point. yikes.” Chika added, “Then have the audacity to try to gaslight me like ‘we never come for you, we never swarm your mentions, we uplift you, it’s not us.’ bro, scroll my TL from yesterday through the month of april. it’s always y’all. i addressed it so it can stop. but you’re still here.” She concluded her message in one last tweet, writing, “Leave me alone. it’s f*cking weird.”

Drake Hyped Over “God’s Plan” Scholarship Recipient Graduating From College

In just a few days, Destiny James will graduate from college. She may not look familiar to some, but those who repeatedly watched the music video for “God’s Plan” will recognize the student. In the 2018 clip of Drake’s No. 1 hit, the rapper is seen blessing random people with money, and one of those lucky recipients was Destiny who took home a scholarship worth $50K.

On Instagram, Destiny revealed that she’ll soon be graduating from the University of North Carolina’s Chapel Hill Gillings School of Global Public Health with a master’s degree in Public Health in Health Behavior. She’s unsurprisingly excited about the accomplishment and chatted with TheShadeRoom about why she wanted to pursue her field.

“Public health has been a passion of mine since 2016 when my dad passed from stage 4 lung cancer,” Destiny shared with the outlet. “Obtaining this degree is something I will always be proud of! The obstacles I was able to overcome fueled my fire and I am so proud to say I am now a graduate of the #1 ranked public school for public health in the country.”

In the “God’s Plan” visual, Destiny is seen being surprised by Drake who then presents her with a $50,000 check for the University of Miami. Destiny first attended the school in 2015 and the check went to pay off her studies. The year after she received the financial help from Drizzy, Destiny reportedly began her studies for her masters at UNC.

50 Cent Calls Tom Cruise “The Man” Amid Hollywood Protest

Things are not looking good for Hollywood’s most prestigious institutions. The HFPA has been under tons of scrutiny recently that resulted in NBC announcing that they would not be airing the Golden Globes. This marks the first time in 25 years that the network wouldn’t be carrying the channel.

The protest against the HFPA ramped up this week after it was announced that Tom Cruise returned three of his Golden Globe Awards back to the Academy. His awards for best actor for Jerry McGuire in 1997 and  Born On The Fourth Of July in 1990, along with the best supporting actor award for Magnolia in 2000, were returned to the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.

The backlash facing the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, the group behind the Golden Globes, stems from a lack of diversity in the organization, specifically due to the fact that there are no Black members.

Tom Cruise began receiving applaud from many within the entertainment business including 50 Cent who commended the actor for the bold move. “For the first time since 1996 NBC won’t be airing the Golden Globes no diversity, no show,” 50 Cent wrote on an IG post. “@tomcruise is the man for sending his trophy’s back.”

The public pressure resulted in a statement from the HFPA who said that they are committed to making changes within their organization. “Regardless of the next air date of the Golden Globes, implementing transformational changes as quickly — and as thoughtfully — as possible remains the top priority for our organization,” the statement reads. “We invite our partners in the industry to the table to work with us on the systemic reform that is long overdue, both in our organization as well as within the industry at large.”
