Masego & TeaMarrr Team Up On “Smith & Westin”

Masego blessed fans with a deluxe version of his Studying Abroad: Extended Stay this week. Of the four new songs (and one remix), “Smith & Westin” really sticks out. Masego grabs TeaMarrr for this twisted love story. Although the content of the song couldn’t be more violent, the beat is as smooth as ever. That gives “Smith & Westin” a dark but delightful feel, like a guilty pleasure in musical form.

TeaMarrr and Masego turn love into war as they spar for each other’s full attention and affection. They share the song, and each takes the last bar one step further every time they speak. Although Masego employs a similar vibe to this song as many of his others, TeaMarrr’s appearance spices things up and adds flavor to “Smith & Westin”

Quotable Lyrics
I’ma leave you in sorrow
Could it be, I’m like kissing Kate Barlow
Ride out, I’ma get my revenge
Your hideout, buss in, gon’ let me in
So meet me in the middle of town
Or wherever the fuck this needs to go down
We gon’ fight

The Alchemist And Earl Sweatshirt Have An Album Hidden On YouTube Under A Fake Name

Producer The Alchemist and Earl Sweatshirt came together at the end of last month for the collaboration “Nobles,” which appeared on the former’s album This Thing Of Ours. (Earl also appeared on a second track, entitled “Loose Change.”) The producer recently revealed there’s more where that came from. In fact, the two have already released a full-length album together, a while back. But there’s a catch: You’ll have to work hard to find it.

“We hid a whole album on youtube under a fake name and youtube page,” Alchemist wrote on Twitter. “Fake album cover, song titles, the whole 9. Nobody found it yet.” Naturally, this sent fans on a scramble to locate the project on streaming platforms.

Some shared their reactions — and frustrations — on Twitter about their search. “Looked for a hour can’t find sh*t ima just pretend it’s fake,” one person wrote, while another opted to wait for others to find it. “I give Reddit 3 hours before they find a Earl sweatshirt album lmao I’m not doing all this work,” they said.

This is not the first time that Alchemist spoke about the hidden album, which they released years ago. Back in January 2019, he shared a similar tweet writing, “We did one and dropped it under a fake name. Youtube. Go find it. You are the one.”

Earl Sweatshirt is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

AAB Hellabandz Suspected Killer Gets Arrested: Report

Chicago rapper AAB Hellabandz, or Ameer Golston, was shot and killed on May 11, 2019. According to Local 10 News, the killer has finally be arrested. Austin Hall, 26, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder. Police believe Hall was seeking revenge after AAB Hellabandz was named as the alleged shooter in a previous murder. Hall also was recently convicted of armed robbery, and was in Miami Beach before having to turn himself in for a sentence.

“It was pretty brazen to assassinate somebody in the middle of the street, next to a nightclub that was packed,” stated Miami Beach homicide detective Alberto Porro in regards to AAB’s murder.  “This case had to be done slowly and surely to build it to the point that we are now. So that we are pretty confident that when this goes to trial or in front of a judge, there’s no doubt,” Porro said. The case took so long because police had to use surveillance footage and telephone records. However, it was Chicago PD that helped get Hall into custody, as all the evidence led Miami police up to the Windy City. “Without them, this would be an unsolved case right now,” Porro revealed.

Lil Baby & Polo G Dominate This Week’s “Fire Emoji” Playlist

As we enter the summer months, with vaccine numbers increasing and more people returning back to their regular lives (or as close as they possibly can to it), we’re in dire need of the right vibes to be back outside. Heavy-hitting anthems are already in rotation but more are on the way. And as usual, we got you on everything that you gotta listen to for our Fire Emoji playlist. Here’s your breakdown:

Kirk Franklin has maintained always been in close proximity to the rap game in many ways. This week, the unlikely pairing of Kirk Franklin and Lil Baby emerged onto streaming services in anticipation of Space Jam: A New Legacy. The Lebron James-starring film just unveiled the first single off of the soundtrack, “We Win.” The new collaboration from Lil Baby and Kirk Franklin was produced by Just Blaze and might end up being the best thing to come out of the forthcoming film.

Elsewhere on the playlist, we have the latest from Polo G who is ramping up before the release of his forthcoming album. Polo and Lil Wayne recently linked up on the single, “Gang Gang.”

Other additions on this week’s playlist include Young Nudy, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, Money Man, and 42 Dugg.

Logic And Madlib Return With ‘Raddest Dad,’ Their Second Single As MadGic

Following a decade in which he released six albums and six mixtapes, Logic called it quits after releasing his 2020 album No Pressure, which was a sequel to his debut, Under Pressure. The rapper’s retirement led to interviews in which revealed why he stepped away from the game, a mostly one-sided spat with Joe Budden, a seven-figure deal with Twitch, and more. But last month he changed his mind, forming a new duo with legendary producer Madlib called MadGic. After dropping their first track, “Mars Only Pt. 3,” in April, the pair returns with “Raddest Dad.”

On the new effort, Logic raps over Roc Marciano’s 2013 Madlib-produced track “The Sacrifice.” At the end he speaks about his alleged retirement. “I mean I retired, but I’ve been making music every single day since I retired because I love it,” he says. “And then I think what I realized was that I don’t like the industry. So I think I want to retire from the industry. That’s why I wanna do this music for free.” He adds, “Sometimes I wanna come back, but I don’t know if I should come back. I mean if I did I’d want to be independent. That’d be pretty cool.”

They teased a potential MadGic full-length on “Mars Only Pt. 3,” with Logic rapping, “Made this whole album in a lockdown, hip hop is our town / Hairline like Doc Brown but I’m killin’ it.”

You can listen to “Raddest Dad” in the video above.

Chief Keef’s Nike Air Force 1-Inspired “Glory 1’s” Sell Out Online

Chief Keef is one of the most influential artists of the last decade and his fans are always looking forward to his next moves whether they be in music or even fashion. On his Glo Gang website, Chief Keef has delivered a ton of Glory Boyz merch over the years, and now, he is getting into the sneaker game thanks to what has been dubbed the “Glory 1’s.” In the images below, you can see that the shoe bears resemblance to the infamous Nike Air Force 1 Low although instead of a swoosh, we get the words “Glory” and “Boyz” written on the side.

Yesterday, Keef released the “Glory 1’s” in two iconic colorways: all-white and all-black. In the end, the white sneakers sold out instantly, all while adult sizes of the black shoe sold out as well. If you are interested in the black pair, you can cop them in kid’s sizes, for $225 USD.

Needless to say, Chief Keef’s very first foray into sneakers has actually worked out quite well for him and it will be interesting to see if he decided to come through with any more colorways in the near future.

Let us know what you think of these shoes, in the comments below.

Soulja Boy Recounts Witnessing Drake’s Painful Fall On Stage

It was over 10 years ago when Drake was a babyfaced freshman in the game, Lil Wayne was still reigning supreme, and hip-hop was shifting in a new direction. In a post-Tha Carter III-world, Wayne was hosting shows in massive stadiums and arenas on several tours but nothing quite summed up the latter half of the mid-aughts like the America’s Most Wanted tour which boasted acts like Jeezy and Soulja Boy for the line-up.

The tour had many memorable moments but perhaps it was Drake’s infamous fall that re-injured his leg, causing the Canadian rapper to undergo surgery. During our recent interview with Soulja Boy, he reflected on that particular moment on tour when he was asked which memory stood out to him the most.

“Man, when Drake broke his fucking ankle! That n***a broke his leg or some shit. I didn’t know what the fuck was going on! I was like, ‘What the fuck? The n***a Drake was on stage rapping and this n***a slipped or some shit and broke his whole ankle,” he recounted. ” It ain’t funny, man. Drake gon’ see this and get mad at me. See how they do me, Drake, in these interviews. That’s what really happened, though. You really slipped and broke your shit, bro. I don’t know. He was really in a wheelchair! He was already in a wheelchair on the TV show, then he slipped onstage and he was in a — I was like, ‘what the fuck?’”

Drake’s issues with his leg have remained a burden over the past decade of his career. Last fall, the rapper, once again, had to undergo surgery which delayed the release of Certified Lover Boy.

“Aye, but it’s not funny, though but he’s okay. He was okay. He got up and walked away. Shout out to Drake. Damn, why that have to be one of the memories? But that was one of the memories. We was all like, ‘What the fuck? This n***a Drake just fell on stage.’ He really fell, though. I don’t know if he slipped on some ice or some shit,” he explained. “That n***a slipped hard as hell. That shit went viral before viral.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Draco explained why he’s always going at Drizzy, in reference to the “What’s Next” rapper’s shout out to Bow Wow earlier this year. “I was just poking a little fun. Having a little fun, like, ‘C’mon, man. You know what’s going on Drake. Stop playing with me, boy.’ But it’s all love. Shout out to Drake and to Bow Wow,” he said.
