After Almost 5 Decades, Samuel L. Jackson Is Finally Getting An Oscar

Samuel L. Jackson has been lighting up the screen for my entire life. The actor has been in dozens upon dozens upon dozens of films, yet he still does not have an Academy Award. He was nominated for his role as Jules Winfield in Pulp Fiction, but it’s been all quiet since then. Now, we all know Jackson will join almost any film. We’ve all seen him in a few stinkers. But overall, Jackson has delivered amazing performances that keep audiences coming back and studios casting him.

As reported by Variety, the Academy has chosen who will get honorary awards next year. Jackson is one of those being honored. He will be blessed with the Governor’s Awards for lifetime achievement in the motion picture industry. He is among four actors that will be honored: Danny Glover will receive the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award, while Liv Ullmann and Elaine May will be awarded as well.

“We are thrilled to present this year’s Governors Awards to four honorees who have had a profound impact on both film and society,” Academy president David Rubin said in a statement. “Sam Jackson is a cultural icon whose dynamic work has resonated across genres and generations and audiences worldwide, while Elaine May’s bold, uncompromising approach to filmmaking, as a writer, director and actress, reverberates as loudly as ever with movie lovers. Liv Ullmann’s bravery and emotional transparency has gifted audiences with deeply affecting screen portrayals, and Danny Glover’s decades-long advocacy for justice and human rights reflects his dedication to recognizing our shared humanity on and off the screen.”

Iggy Azalea Responds To Britney Spears Fans Criticizing Her For Not Helping

Britney Spears’ bombshell of a testimony last week reignited the flames for the “Free Britney” campaign. The singer has been locked into a conservatorship for over a decade, and has little say over her own decisions. In the testimony, Spears’ claimed that she was not even allowed to control her birth control. “I was told … I’m not able to get married or have a baby,” stated Spears. “I wanted to take the IUD out, so I could start trying to have another baby, but … they don’t want me to have … any more children. So basically, this conservatorship is doing me way more harm than good. I deserve to have a life.”

In a viral tweet that attacks Iggy Azalea, T.I., Rihanna, Nicki Minah, G-Eazy, and more, fans claimed these artists were, “remaining silent after Britney speaks up on abuse she’s faced by her conservators.”

Iggy Azalea, who is no stranger to drama on the internet, took to Twitter to respond to the angry fans. “I am actually here to support someone in a way that’s helpful and also mindful,” she wrote. “Britney has said in her own words, she’s embarrassed to even share this with the world. If she needed me to speak on her behalf, That message has been delivered to her. Other than that – I’m good.”

“I’ve done what I’m supposed to do, I’ve reached out,” Azalea continued. “I’m not supposed to be mindlessly telling you all whatever was happening because half of these people are just here for entertainment not to help. I actually care & she can use me if she needs my voice. Leave me alone PLEASE.”

Justine Skye Believes It’s “About Time”

Justine Skye touched down with her sophomore effort Space and Time this past week. The album features production from her big homie and legend Timbaland. The project is amazing, and adds to the list of dope R&B projects dropping this year. Justine really entrances listeners with her voice, something that is very noticeable in “About Time.”

This single has a spacey vibe that makes you feel like you’re floating. The smooth synths make you feel like you’re drowning and floating at the same time, honestly. Justine sings about redemption and reaching a place of peace after pushing past a bad relationship. The lyrics hit deep but it’s really the beat that has us loving this one.

Quotable Lyrics
There’s a lot I could say
You deserve the payback
Bad, but I can’t runnin’ back
So fast, at last
On the strip
There’s a lot I won’t say
Don’t wanna just react
Facts, this time I won’t relapse

Vin Diesel Is Simply “Dying” To Make A “Fast & Furious” Musical

Did you ever believe the Fast & Furious franchise would make it this far? The money-making machine keeps going, and star Vin Diesel has some more ideas for where it can head. While doing promo for Fast 9 on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Vin admitted that he’s been dying to do a musical for quite some time. Clarkson first asked Vin if he would want to do a sing-along Fast film to which he claimed he was, “this close to doing Guys and Dolls with Steven Spielberg, but we ended up not doing that.”

“I’ve been dying to do a musical my whole life,” Vin continued. He even added that he would be open to doing a Fast & Furious musical. “For the longest time, I thought the Nathan Detroit role in Guys and Dolls would be a very interesting one to revamp, the one that Frank Sinatra played in Guys and Dolls,” he stated.

“My family is artistic, and I’m blessed to have that and I’m blessed to be in a family that is supportive of these crazy dreams,” he revealed. “I would encourage everyone to support the people who want to think outside the box and dream something impossible because there’s great beauty in that.” Do you want to see a Fast musical?

Juicy J & Henry AZ Are “Talking To God”

Juicy J recently dropped off the extended version of his 2020 project The Hustle Still ContinuesThe gets a touch of a few new songs, one of which is “Talking To God” featuring Henry AZ. The instrumental to this one really slaps. Haunting pianos echo ominously on the record while boisterous drums inject the song with energy.

Juicy J flows around the drums like the veteran he is, while Henry AZ adds some new energy to the record. AZ also adds some humor to the banger. This single is somewhat hypnotic, maybe it’s the piano pattern. Whatever it is though, it keeps “Talking to God” from getting old. The chorus is fun to repeat and easy to remember, which are two good qualities for a hook to have.

Quotable Lyrics
Last night I was talkin’ to Jesus (What?)
He said I was dropped as a fetus (Woah)
I told him, “That’s not even possible, dude, and really, it’s hard to believe it” (Yeah)
I’m smoking a pack of the greenest (Yep)
My money don’t fold, it creases (Creases)
The difference between me and you, when she said that it’s love, you fuckin’ believed it (Dummy)

6LACK & Freddie Gibbs Achieve “Organized Chaos” On Young Rog’s New Song

Over the course of this year, Young Rog has been winning listeners over with singles such as “Bullsh*t” with Summer Walker and the recently-released “Destiny,” and this week, the rising LVRN artist looks to double down on his momentum with his debut project Boy Next Door.

Boy Next Door comes packed with seven new tracks, and although much of the project finds Young Rog showing off his skills as a solo artist, the project’s second track features both his fellow LVRN artist 6LACK and the recently Grammy-nominated rapper Freddie Gibbs. The infectious R&B track finds Young Rog solely handling the hook and bridge while shining a light on his high-profile collaborators.

In a recent post to Instagram, the LVRN artist talked about being overlooked, saying, “Baby we not seeing eye to eye! You overlooking the one not the two!” Well, after holding his own on a song with incredible artists like 6LACK and Freddie Gibbs, Young Rog definitely won’t have to worry about being overlooked much longer.

Listen to Young Rog’s new track “Organized Chaos” below, and check out the rest of his debut project Boy Next Doorhere.

Quotable Lyrics

You should let me know, don’t leave me in the cold
I wanna see my kids, them babies in your throat
Baby, we should let love, love bring it home
‘Cause ain’t nobody tryna find love when they get old

DaBaby & The Game Connect In The Studio

DaBaby’s rise to international stardom is nothing short of impressive. The Charlotte-bred rapper rose to mainstream prominence in 2019 with his breakout hit “Suge” after releasing several mixtapes between 2014 to 2018. Since then, he’s collaborated with the likes of Nicki Minaj, Megan thee Stallion, Roddy Ricch, and many other game-heavy hitters.

Fellow rapper The Game experienced the height of his success years prior to DaBaby, but it looks like the “Rockstar” rapper values the Compton rapper’s skills. The pair shared footage of themselves cooking up in the studio, sharing a sneak peek of what fans can expect from the upcoming collaboration.

In the footage, The Game and DaBaby smoke a spliff and drink from a double-cupped red solo as they listen to the heat they’re been working on in the studio. “Yeah, what’s up baby/Young n*gga tell me he like my truck/He like how I get that one day baby?/Work sun up to sun up,” spit DaBaby on the track.

The Game also briefly kept recording as the beginning of his verse was previewed. Unfortunately for California rapper, though, it seems like his legal troubles are piling up.

The rapper was ordered to pay $7 million in damages to Priscilla Rainey, a woman who accused the rapper of sexual assault. He will have to give up his royalties until the debt is completely paid off. He recently suggested he had no plans to cough up the $7 million he was ordered to pay Rainey.

New reports also claim the rapper could also owe $12 million for endorsing a failed cannabis crypto coin known as Paragon Coin. Hopefully, the new music will help generate some revenue to help pay off the costly settlements as they continue piling up.
