Jake Paul & Tyron Woodley To Hit The Boxing Ring In August

Jake Paul has become the boxing world’s unanticipated influencer-turned-heavyweight champion. As well documented, the Youtuber’s older brother Logan Paul is set to face off with Floyd Mayweather this Sunday (June 6). UFC Welterweight Champion Tyron Woodley, however, has been eager to get in the ring with Paul, dubbing him a “culture vulture” and demanding the former Disney Channel star face-off with him.

“He keeps calling out everybody but me. I’m the one with the real smoke with you,” Woodley previously told TMZ. “I’m in, and I can actually find him. People that keep talking about fighting him, they’re not even in position to fight him. I can actually fight him. I can fight him tomorrow if I want to.” Sharing a flyer for the upcoming event, Paul and Woodley confirmed to ESPN today that the two are slated to battle later this summer.

The match is scheduled to take place on August 28th and as of right now, no host city has been selected as the location for the pay-per-view event. Distributed by Showtime, fans are expected to be in attendance during the live battle. This marks the second time Paul faces a former UFC fighter in a boxing match. He previously knocked out Woodley’s longtime friend a teammate Ben Askren back in April in just two minutes.

“I have a list of people I plan on shutting up with my fists,” Paul said in a statement provided to ESPN. “And as I enter my fourth pro fight, I am excited to knock the first one off the list by challenging myself against a five-time UFC champion known for his knockout power. Tyron’s a seasoned striker who has fought the best in the world. I certainly respect his career, but I will be sending Tyron into a permanent siesta on August 28.”

He continued, “Maybe this time [UFC president] Dana White will actually be a man and put his money on his former champion instead of trying to undermine my success like a jealous ex. Influencer vs MMA: let’s get it on. It’s showtime.”

“Easiest fight of my career and biggest purse of my career all in one night,” Woodley said regarding the battle. “Basically, they brought me in to take out the trash. I can’t wait to shut this b—- up. This is getting done for the culture, the whole MMA community and boxing community, to rid this guy of combat sports.”

Paul and Woodley are expected to face off for the first time this Thursday in Miami to build anticipation for the event. Let us know if you’re looking forward to watching these two duke it out down below.

Swizz Beatz Explains Why He Called Out Justin Timberlake At “Verzuz”

Verzuzhas been the hottest event on the Internet since the pandemic began but as things open up, it looks like Swizz and Timbaland are getting ready to transition their online show into a full-blown concert. On the weekend, Swizz and Timbo held their re-match at Club LIV in Miami but it was Timbaland’s performance of “Ayo Technology” that seemingly rubbed Swizzy the wrong way. Swizz called out JT, claiming that the pop star should be supporting Verzuz with his own participation.

“Until Justin let the world know that he —,” Swizz said before Timbaland cut him off. “Justin gotta come out, he’s coming out,” Timbo added.

“He gotta admit that he love the Black culture and he gotta be on this stage,” Swizz continued. “You took from the Black culture, you give to the Black culture. Come to Verzuz and be a part of the Black culture.”

The call-out sounded a bit more aggressive during the show but Swizz Beatz said that he has no issues with the pop singer. During a IG Live recap with Timbaland, Swizz Beatz explained that he was just “having fun.”

“Look, man, I had to go hard. Did you hear how them songs were sounding on that stage? You and JT, it was like JT was in the building. I was like, man,” he said. “I don’t got no problem with JT.”

DaBaby Was Detained And Questioned By Police Over A Shooting In Miami

DaBaby has had his fair share of run-ins with the law since his rise to fame in 2019 including his being “unlawfully” arrested toward the end of that year and arrested again early this year for allegedly carrying a loaded firearm in Los Angeles. TMZ reports that Monday night brought his latest encounter with police, this time in Miami, but rather than being arrested, he was detained and questioned about a shooting near a restaurant on Ocean Drive.

Witnesses told police that just before midnight, they heard a few dozen gunshots, as reported by NBC Miami, and according to Page Six, the rapper — who was in town to perform at a private event at Miami Gardens’ Hard Rock Stadium that night — and his entourage were among those the police stopped and questioned about their potential involvement. According to a source, “DaBaby and his crew had an issue with people right next to them in the car. DaBaby and his crew were traveling in around six SUVs, and either a car pulled up on them and started something or their doors hit each other and they got in a fight. Rumor has it that DaBaby and 10 to 12 members of his entourage have been detained by police.”

No arrests have been made as yet; two people were reported injured. One was hit in the shoulder and the other was hit in the leg and while one remains in the hospital, the other has since been treated and released.

Saba Assists R&B Rising Star Cautious Clay In His Nintendo-Inspired ‘Strange Love’ Video

As a longtime passenger/oft-times driver of the Saba fan bandwagon, I am extremely here for the Chicago rapper doing more features lately. After joining Audrey Nuna for the introspective “Top Again” video, Saba contributes a verse to rising R&B star Cautious Clay’s Nintendo-inspired, animated video for “Strange Love.” The video follows a CGI version of Clay as he shops a store full of Strange Love plushies. However, after being hypnotized by one of the strange heart-shaped products, he gets addicted, shoveling more and more of them into his shopping cart until he creates a monster.

The metaphor seems pretty obvious here and watching the animated protagonist try to dodge the toxic monster he’s accidentally created (a la the No Face scene in Spirited Away) might dredge up some memories for viewers. The video ends on an ambiguous cliffhanger, evoking the video-gamey graphics by leaving our hero with a choice to accept or reject his monster’s offer of another heart plushy.

The Cleveland, Ohio-born Cautious Clay has been rolling out his self-released debut album Deadpan Love over the past several weeks with a release date set for June 25. You can watch the “Strange Love” video above and pre-order the album here.

Trippie Redd’s Snapchat Docuseries “Life’s A Tripp” To Feature MGK, Miguel & More

Trippie Redd and Playboi Carti recently teamed up for the visual to their collaboration “Miss The Rage.” Filled with explosives and other delinquent-esque activities, it’s the first single by the Ohio native since the conclusion of the rollout of his third studio album Pegasus last year. Aside from music, it seems the Soundcloud era-heavyweight has been busy working on other ventures.

According to reports, Trippie has a new Snapchat docuseries arriving soon with some very special guests. Life’s A Tripp will discuss different socio-political issues in America, with the rapper focusing on race, immigration reform, mental health, wrongful incarceration, and even more.

As Hype Beast reports, the multi-platinum artist will focus on different topics surrounding race and policing through conversations with the LAPD, the homeless crisis through conversations with residents of LA’s Skid Row, wrongful incarceration, mental health, drug addiction, and food insecurity. Based in Los Angeles, the docuseries will additionally feature several other names in music as guests including Miguel, Machine Gun Kelly, and G-Eazy.

It will also highlight charitable organizations like Without Shelter, CA Innocence Project, and Ghetto Gastro. The trailer for the upcoming show pans through visuals of Black Lives Matter protests, wildfires, and Los Angeles residents before Trippie eventually chimes in.

“I’ve lived through wildfires and pandemics,” explains the “Excitement” singer. “I lost a friend to the opioid crisis and even more to gun violence. We can’t afford to look the other way anymore.”

He then reflects on each of the aforementioned social issues before adding, “I want to listen to understand what’s wrong with the world and become part of the solution.”

Check out the full trailer for the new series above. Produced by Trooper Entertainment, the eight-episode Snap Original series is set to premiere on June 5th. Following its premiere, a new episode will launch every other day.

Let us know if you’ll be tuning in to Life’s A Trip down in the comments.

T-Pain Channels Soulja Boy & Trolls Chris Brown, Ne-Yo & Trey Songz

Soulja Boy’s marketing campaign towards his forthcoming album, Draco is underway. He has the hottest song on TikTok with “She Make It Clap,” signed a partnership deal with Virgin Music, and is pretty much getting back into the mix the way he intended in 2018 when he was hitting the media circuit with viral moments.

Soulja Boy has made a concerted effort this time around to remind everyone that he was among the first to do just about everything. However, this has inspired plenty of memes, and even a viral challenge. T-Pain is the latest to join in on this particular challenge but he took the opportunity to also troll his fellow peers in the world of R&B, namely Chris Brown, Ne-Yo and Trey Songz. First, he reminded everyone as his status as the first rapper-turnt-sanga. “IM THE FIRST SINGER TO BECOME THE FIRST RAPPER TO BECOME THE FIRST RAPPA TERNT SANGA!!!” He wrote.

“I’m the first singer to sing on a song!!! @chrisbrown used to sleep on my couch!! @NeYoCompound used to eat my left overs on Chrismas,” he wrote on Twitter. “@TreySongz used to practice the light skinned face in a mirror in my basement!!! Put some respect on Big Flake-O!!!”

Soulja Boy has yet to respond but it’s only a matter of time until he does. Check out T-Pain’s tweets below.
