Stephen A. Smith Claims Damian Lillard Is Being Pursued By Numerous Teams

Damian Lillard is among the best point guards in the entire NBA right now and at times, one can make the argument that he has surpassed Curry in terms of being clutch. While he tried his best during the team’s first-round series against the Denver Nuggets, his efforts simply weren’t enough as the Portland Trail Blazers were eliminated from the postseason.

While Lillard has been adamant about sticking it out in Portland, there are now reports that teams believe Lillard could very well become available this summer. In fact, Stephen A. Smith went on First Take today where he claimed that the Los Angeles Clippers, New York Knicks, Miami Heat, and even the Lakers could end up vying for the Blazers star.

“About 6 or 7 teams believe they can get their hands on [Lillard]” Smith said. “One of them includes the Knicks. But also, the Clippers, the Miami Heat, and who knows what the Lakers might try to do.”

For now, these reports seem like a bit of a knee-jerk reaction to the Blazers’ playoff elimination. Lillard is one of the best players in the league and while any team would want his services, there is no guarantee that he would want to go somewhere else, in the first place.

Stay tuned to HNHH for the latest news and updates from around the NBA.

Lucky Daye Desperately Desires Freedom On His Empowering Track, ‘Running Blind’

When looking at the past half-decade in R&B, there’s no doubt that Lucky Daye had one of the more eye-catching breakouts amongst the newcomers in the genre. The New Orleans singer certainly didn’t have the chart-topping song or album, but the well-crafted and music and undeniable talent were there. Daye dropped his debut album, Painted in the spring of 2019 and it would land him four Grammy nominations at the following year’s award show. The rest of the year would be quiet for the singer, but he would make a big return in 2021.

Daye kicked off the year with his Table For Two EP and while that would’ve been enough in a year’s work for some artists, it looks like the singer is far from done. The “Roll Some Mo” act returns with a brand new single, titled, “Running Blind.” The new track will appear on the upcoming Liberated / Music For The Movement Vol. 3 EP, an effort put together by The Undefeated and Hollywood Records with the goal of celebrating Black beauty, self-love, Afrofuturism, and Black empowerment through music. The EP is a five-track project that will also see appearances from Chloe Bailey, Yara Shahidi, saxophonist Kamasi Washington, and more.

The new song arrives on the backend of a string of collaborations from Daye. The entire Table For Two EP was built with duets alongside female singers like Ari Lennox, Yebba, Joyce Wrice, and more. He also worked with Leon Bridges on “All About You” and Buddy on “Faces.”

You can listen to “Running Blind” in the video above.

HER Shares ‘Change’ From Netflix’s Obama-Produced ‘We The People’

Netflix’s animated series We The People drops in exactly one month, and today, one of the stars set to be highlighted in the series, HER, has shared her musical contribution to its soundtrack, “Change.” Opening with a mean bass riff, the song describes parts of the political process and advocates for education and participation, acclaiming the power of one person to make a difference. “One day, I’ll be a leader,” she sings. “Believe in ‘We the people.’”

The singer has been lauded in recent months for the string of socially conscious hits she’s released in the past year, which includes the Golden Globe-nominated “Fight For You” from the Judas And The Black Messiah soundtrack and the Grammy-winning “I Can’t Breathe,” released in response to the murder of George Floyd by police officer Derek Chauvin.

We The People, streaming July 4, is produced by Barack and Michelle Obama and Black-ish creator Kenya Barris and aims to inspire viewers to become more engaged with their community and government. A description from Netflix reads:

Combining music and animation to educate a new generation of young Americans about the power of the people, We the People is a series of 10 animated music videos that covers a range of basic U.S. civics lessons in not-so-basic ways. Set to original songs performed by artists such as H.E.R., Janelle Monáe, Brandi Carlile, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Adam Lambert, Cordae, Bebe Rexha, KYLE, Andra Day, and poet Amanda Gorman, with a groundbreaking mix of animated styles — each episode of We the People is an exuberant call to action for everyone to rethink civics as a living, breathing thing and to reframe their understanding of what government and citizenship mean in a modern world.

Listen to “Change” above. We The People starts streaming 7/4 on Netflix.

De La Soul’s Catalog Could Be Coming To Streaming Services After All

Streaming has rapidly become the dominant way many people consume music over the course of the past half-decade but one of the most storied catalogs in all of hip-hop has been absent from DSPs as a result of a decades-long copyright battle. However, that may be changing soon as a result of the recent sale of Tommy Boy Music to music rights company Reservoir for $100 million, which prompted the question of what would happen to the music of De La Soul. Variety reports that Reservoir has already reached out to the iconic rap trio to “bring the catalog and the music back to the fans.”

The status of De La Soul’s catalog on DSPs has been uncertain since 2019, when Questlove led a call to boycott Tommy Boy’s proposed streaming plan over the unfavorable splits the band would have received. After Jay-Z and Tidal made the decision not to host the catalog, Tommy Boy’s streaming plan fell through, once again leaving the future of the catalog in limbo. To date, the only two De La albums available to stream are 2004’s The Grind Date, released under Sanctuary Records, and their crowdfunded 2016 album And The Anonymous Nobody. That leaves six albums, including their groundbreaking debut 3 Feet High And Rising, out of rotation.

For younger fans who might not know the impact the band has had on rap culture, this is kind of a travesty. However, as a testament to De La’s profound importance to the pop culture landscape — and a possible introduction to them for those younger fans — the band was recently featured in an episode of Teen Titans Go! on Cartoon Network, using their musical powers to defeat an animated monster octopus. Maybe one day soon, those Teen Titans fans will be able to check out “Me Myself & I” and “Stakes Is High” on Spotify.

Drake Brings Adonis To Lakers Game But Doesn’t Sit With Him

Drake took his son Adonis to the Los Angeles Lakers game last night, which ended up being the team’s final game of the season. They were eliminated from the NBA Playoffs in a 113-100 loss to the Phoenix Suns. The father-son duo arrived just after Anthony Davis stepped off the court with a groin injury, heading to the locker room and returning to the bench to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines. While they arrived together, Drake and Adonis curiously weren’t seated together.

Showing up hand-in-hand with his three-year-old son, Drake assumed his courtside duties at the game while his mini-me sat in the row behind him. Adonis wore headphones to block out the noise of the game. At times, Drake went over to his son’s section to point out specific players on the court. It’s likely that Adonis wasn’t courtside with his daddy for security reasons.

Adonis has taken an interest in basketball in recent months. Both of his parents have posted videos of the toddler sinking some shots on a mini hoop. Adonis seems to be fixated on LeBron James, wearing a #23 jersey to the game after Drake caught him ogling Bron’s best moments on YouTube the other day.

Hopefully, they enjoyed their night out for the NBA Playoffs, despite the game being pretty one-sided.

LeBron James Shamelessly Plugs “Space Jam” After Brutal Loss

LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers had an opportunity to push the Phoenix Suns to a seventh game last night. Unfortunately, Anthony Davis got injured early on in the game which forced the Lakers into a tough position. They simply didn’t have the firepower to really make a difference, and it allowed the Suns to cruise to an easy victory. It was the first time LeBron had ever been eliminated in the first-round, and for many Lakers fans, it was a truly horrible night.

While the loss could have been extremely tough on LeBron, he decided to take a more measured approach. In fact, LeBron made light of everything as he delivered a shameless plus of Space Jam: A New Legacy, while speaking to reporters.

“I think I’m going to play for the Toon Squad this summer instead of the Olympics,” James said. “That’s my focus — on trying to beat the Monstars or the Goon Squad, we call them now. I didn’t have much success against the Suns, so now I’m gearing my attention to the Goon Squad in mid-July.”

The movie will be dropping on July 16th this summer and there is no doubt that there will be a lot of hype surrounding it. As for the Lakers, they will need to get healthy, while also making some big roster adjustments, if they want any shot at making a deep run next season.

Roddy Ricch Talks New Album & Collabing With Birdman & Lil Wayne

Roddy Ricch recently delivered his brand new single “Late At Night,” produced by his longtime collaborator DJ Mustard. With his upcoming album set to arrive in the near future, Ricch took a moment to chop it up with Zane Lowe on Apple Music, where he spoke about his creative process, collaborating with Birdman and Lil Wayne, and more.

“You got to treat every album like it’s the last thing you could ever say,” explains Ricch, presenting deeper insight into his philosophy. “So I treat every song I put out now, everything I put out is as if this is what I got to say, like, this is my peace. You feel me? This is what I have to tell y’all…God just blessed me to be in a position where I can really just do this in the best way. In the most purest way. Even just learning from mistakes. Even just my recording process or whatever, I could do it in the purest of ways because it’s not any pressure on me per se. People may put pressure on themselves to see me, but I don’t have to put pressure on myself to be seen by people.”

While it’s uncertain as to how Roddy’s zenlike philosophy will affect his forthcoming album, fans have a few pieces of the puzzle unveiled — the aforementioned “Late At Night” and the Birdman and Lil Wayne-assisted “Stunnaman,” provided that manages to slide onto the final tracklist. On the topic of the latter, Roddy also opened up about how that one came together, revealing his surprised reaction to learning that Weezy was primed for an appearance.

“I was in Miami, I pulled up on Stunna, and I was upstairs,” he explains. “We just made it. I made it. He like, ‘Little bruh, this is special. We’re going to have to do something with this.’ I’m like, ‘All right … Cool. It ain’t nothing’ So you feel me? He end up making his call, doing what he had to do. Next thing I know, they tell me like, ‘Man, Wayne.’ I’m like, ‘Huh? Damn, Wayne and Birdman.’ I know a lot of people wonder why, but just growing up, you see them two together, that was a no-brainer, to just be able to be in the room or even do music with them. So the fact that I could even be on a song with them, that was one of my little check offs.”

Jasiah Enlists Denzel Curry & Rico Nasty For War In His Latest Single

Two months after dropping the electrifying seven-track EP War, Jasiah is back with a blazing new single that features Denzel Curry and Rico Nasty. Similarly titled to the aforementioned project, “Art of War” is a spine-tingling three-minute cut that was made for opening up mosh pits.

Rico Nasty and Jasiah previously collaborated on War‘s third track “In N Out” alongside TheHxliday, but now, they’ve switched up their formula a bit and enlisted Flordia’s own Denzel Curry for the new war-themed record.

Yet perhaps Jasiah has had enough of talking about war because he largely takes a backseat to his featured artists on “Art of War.” While he sits back and handles the hook, Denzel Curry and Rico Nasty fully take charge with two ferocious verses that are packed with plenty of screaming and violent bars.

Give “Art of War” a listen below and let us know if you’re feeling Jasiah, Denzel Curry, and Rico Nasty’s raucous synergy.

Quotable Lyrics

I don’t play with n*ggas like a racist gamer
If my name on the feature then you endangered
Go the hardest in war with my face painted
Sum me up in two words, insane and famous
Been a decade and I’m still bangin’

Pardison Fontaine Swoons Over Megan Thee Stallion

Pardison Fontaine and Megan Thee Stallion are in the fairly early stages of their relationship but they’ve got a lot of love for one another. Making their red carpet debut a few days ago at the 2021 iHeartRadio Music Awards, Pardi and Megan showed off their growing bond in the midst of Stalli’s social media hiatus. The rapper has been enjoying her Hot Girl Summer in the arms of her man, taking a break from music before jumping back into the thick of it. She’s been taking time to vedge with Pardi, who recently sang the rapper’s praises on Twitter.
