Rod Wave & Krool Toys Turn “Street Runner” Single Into A Video Game

At the beginning of March, Rod Wave blessed his fans with new music and released “Street Runner,” his first single of 2021 and the first song from his highly anticipated upcoming project SoulFly. To commemorate his return, the Pray 4 Love artist has revealed a creative way to continue interacting with the single weeks after its release: a full-fledged video game. In partnership with Krool Toys (who has also pumped out eccentric video game takes on Playboi Carti’s Whole Lotta Red as well as Future and Lil Uzi Vert’s collab project Pluto x Baby Pluto), Rod Wave has launched a video game inspired by “Street Runner.”

Krool Toy’s video game rendition of Rod Wave’s latest single is now available to play for free on its official website, and it is also giving away a 1 of 1 game box as well as a custom “Street Runner” Gameboy Advance to play the video game on. In statements to Complex, both Rod Wave and the creative toy company shared comments about their left-field collaboration.

Commenting on how the meaning of his latest single influenced the design of the video game, Rod Wave said, “‘Street Runner’ is a personal song about the sacrifices I made to pursue this career that I have now. All while never forgetting about the family and loved ones I’m doing it for. This video game brings my story to life beyond the music.”

In regards to the “Street Runner” game’s nostalgic vibes, Stefan of Krool Toys explained, “When building out this game we really wanted to give people the feeling of being back in an arcade getting behind one of those old school sit-down racing games, as well as incorporate some elements from Rod’s home of Florida.”

If you’re feeling the creative new direction for Rod Wave’s “Street Runner” single, stay tuned for more updates as his forthcoming project SoulFly is set to drop on March 26.

The Weeknd Celebrates 10 Years Of ‘House Of Balloons’ By Releasing The Mixtape On Streaming Services

The Weeknd released his debut mixtape House Of Balloons in 2011, before he was signed to XO Records. The project was an early indication of the singer’s massive success as it instantly put The Weeknd on the map. This Sunday officially marks the 10-year anniversary of the mixtape’s release, so to celebrate, the singer has decided to upload the project to streaming services in its original form for the first time.

The Weeknd shared the exciting news to social media, saying all of the original samples have been cleared for streaming, including Beach House’s “Master Of None” and Aaliyah’s “Rock the Boat.” “On Sunday for its 10 year anniversary I’m releasing House of Balloons on all streaming platforms for the first time in it’s original incarnation,” the singer wrote. “With the original mixes and samples.”

Ahead of announcing that the album is going to be made available for streaming, The Weeknd took aim at the Grammys just before their ceremony Sunday. The singer had previously called the Recording Academy “corrupt” after his acclaimed album After Hours did not receive a single nomination. This time, The Weeknd declares that he’s boycotting the event for good. In a statement given to the New York Times, The Weeknd said: “Because of the secret committees, I will no longer allow my label to submit my music to the Grammys.”

House Of Balloons will be made available on streaming services 3/21.

Chad Tepper Performs His Pop-Punk Breakout Hit ‘Loser’ On ‘UPROXX Sessions’

UPROXX Sessions is taking a turn back to pop-punk this week, with Floridian skater-turned- musician Chad Tepper and his performance of his 2019 song, “Loser.” A former social media star, Tepper turned to music in 2019, releasing his Saddest Memory and Trash Loser EPs. “Loser,” the lead single from the latter, is an upbeat, guitar-driven track that finds Chad fretting over the potential loss of a romantic interest.

Tepper followed up in 2020 with the three-song collection, Free Brittany. His 2000s alt-rock influences are apparent on all three projects, as he specifically name-checks My Chemical Romance in the last song of Free Brittany. On the title track, he croons, “I like to skate in my block and listen to MCR.” The similarities helped him accumulate quite a few views on YouTube, although his biggest hit there is the more hip-hop-oriented “Malibu” featuring Jake Paul. Most recently, he released the December 2020 single “I Wanna Be Your High.”

Watch Chad Tepper’s UPROXX Sessions performance of “Loser” above.

UPROXX Sessions is Uproxx’s performance show featuring the hottest up-and-coming acts you should keep an eye on. Featuring creative direction from LA promotion collective, Ham On Everything, and taking place on our “bathroom” set designed and painted by Julian Gross, UPROXX Sessions is a showcase of some of our favorite performers, who just might soon be yours, too.

Soulja Boy Reloads The Clip On Drake

Soulja Boy is pretty peeved after Drake, who he infamously accused of stealing his flows bar-for-bar, word-for-word on his first single, linked up with Bow Wow and gave the former child star his flowers. The Toronto rapper said that without Bow Wow, there wouldn’t be a Drake. Soulja Boy is wondering why he wasn’t given that same treatment, reloading the clip on the current holder of the #1, #2, and #3 songs on the Billboard Hot 100.

Draaaakkeeee??? Draaaaakkkkeeeeee????? Soulja Boy is infamous for yelling out the world-famous rapper’s name a couple of times during his interview at The Breakfast Club, which prompted dozens of media headlines about his supposed beef with the artist. Telling the hosts of the radio show that he “taught Drake everything he knows” in early 2019, Soulja Boy is pissed off that Drake wouldn’t acknowledge his influence despite his willingness to show love to Bow Wow. He let his frustration be known on social media.

“That n***a drake is hilarious,” wrote Big Draco on Wednesday afternoon on Twitter. “Dude stole my whole bar then thanked bow wow.”

Drake was in Houston this week to celebrate his latest achievement on the Billboard Hot 100, joining Bow Wow and his OVO crew as he praised the young legend. “If it wasn’t for you, it wouldn’t be no me,” he said to Bow Wow. “That’s why I’ma rock with y’all forever.”

Do you think Drake should give Soulja Boy his props too?

Ray J & Princess Love Call Off Divorce Again

It looks like Ray J and Princess Love are officially back on, although it may be difficult to keep track. For those not keeping tabs on the constant see-saw between the two, a few weeks back, Ray J revealed on TMZ Live that the two were making a move to Miami for a fresh start, although he refused to confirm at the time if they had reconciled.

Princess was the first to file for divorce last year, before retracting, although Ray J eventually filed his own paperwork to end his marriage. The two share a two-year-old daughter Melody and 14-month-old son Epik.

Now, it’s been revealed by TMZ that the two essentially dissolved their divorce once again, in February. Princess filed dismissal paperwork, and Ray signed off on it. The dismissal was given without prejudice, so the pair are free to go through with the process again in the future if they wish.

“We’re taking it one day at a time.” Ray J said in last month’s interview concerning their relationship. “Back together? I think that’s just a journey that we gotta take, but I think we are together and we love being together. Now, it’s just figuring out, how do we keep it consistent and how to we enjoy life together and be good together because I think we’re meant to be together.”

Following that, Ray J also revealed on the morning show The Real, a little over a month ago, that he and Princess were enjoying their time together in Miami and that time heals all wounds.

It looks like that’s certainly the case for them. We’ll keep you posted on their love saga.

Michael Sullivan, the half-brother of Swae Lee and Slim Jxmmi of the group Rae Sremmurd, has reportedly been charged with first-degree murder over the death of his father Floyd Sullivan Jr., the rappers’ step-dad.

The report comes via TMZ, which says D.A. John Weddle informed the publication of the charges following a grand jury hearing in January. If he’s convicted, Michael reportedly faces life in prison. He is not currently facing the death penalty. There is no reported date for the case to head to trial.

Bernadette Walker, Michael’s mother, previously said that she thought her son, who had been struggling with schizoaffective disorder, was off his medication before the shooting. He had reportedly been having episodes with her before moving in with his father.

Michael Sullivan was arrested in January 2020 as a suspect in his father’s murder. As TMZ points out, Rae Sremmurd had previously posed in pictures with their half-brother and were seemingly pretty close to him.

We will keep you updated with details on the case when it heads to trial.
