6ix9ine’s Estranged Dad Is Homeless & Wants His Son To Help

Tekashi 6ix9ine, née Daniel Hernandez, is easily one of the most polarizing figures in rap history. The Brooklyn-bred rapper was arrested back in 2018 on federal R.I.C.O. charges, subsequently striking a deal with prosecutors that landed him a mere two years in prison in exchange for testifying against fellow Nine Trey gang members.

The disgraced rapper’s father notably made an appearance at the rapper’s sentencing in December of 2019 after he pleaded guilty to crimes related to his involvement with the aforementioned gang. While in court, Hernandez, who shares the same name as his son, asked to speak on 6ix9ine’s behalf but was denied. Now, the “GOOBA” artist’s estranged father is admitting he’s homeless and upset with his son for not reaching out with financial assistance.

Hernandez revealed in a video obtained by Page Six on Friday (June 25) that he has been living in a homeless shelter for two years despite Tekashi’s successful music career. “Because I don’t have an apartment, he doesn’t know that I’m in the shelter,” Hernandez, 60, said. “Now he’s going to know I’ve been here for, what, two years already?”

Hernandez furthers that his son, who he’s been estranged from now for over a decade, hasn’t offered any money to him. “You think he’d come hook me up with something,” he said. “He’s been giving money to other people. … He gives money to everybody. ‘Here, here, here.’”

As mentioned, Hernandez briefly made an appearance at 6ix9ine’s sentencing for his involvement with the Nine Trey Gang. “I took one glance — I see my biological father. I haven’t seen him since the third grade,” said Tekashi addressing the court before receiving his sentence. “I don’t even know if this is a f–kin’ joke, everything I go through.”

The rapper has admitted before that he did not meet his biological father until he was 9. He previously explained that his mother, Natividad Perez-Hernandez, kicked him out the house after allegedly catching him shooting up heroin in the bathroom.

Perhaps 6ix9ine will put his internet trolling on the backburner to help his father out.

Kevin Durant Goes After Jackie MacMullan Over Recent Nets Comments

Kevin Durant has been active on Twitter as of late in light of the Brooklyn Nets’ elimination from the NBA Playoffs. Durant has a lot more free time to engage with whatever the media is saying, and over the last couple of days, he has certainly let his presence be known. Yesterday, he went after the likes of Scottie Pippen, and today, Durant is throwing shots at ESPN reporter Jackie MacMullan.

MacMullan recently went on Bill Simmons’ podcast and explained that Durant told her that he wants to win at least three titles in Brooklyn. Well, Durant saw this report and immediately refuted it as he took to Twitter claiming that he never had a conversation like that with MacMullan. In fact, he even got on her case for pretending as though the two are friends.

“Once again, I don’t even talk like this…plus I don’t have a relationship with Jackie for us to have in depth conversations about my intentions as a basketball player. I get she plays an opinion based sport but she framed this like we are friends. We are not,” he wrote.

Durant has proven to be quite sensitive when it comes to matters involving the media, and it doesn’t seem like he will be changing that behavior, anytime soon. As for MacMullan, she has yet to reply to Durant’s tweet.

Jay-Z Auctions Off NFT For “Reasonable Doubt” Anniversary

It’s been 25 years since artist, entrepreneur, and philanthropist Jay-Z released his debut album Reasonable Doubt and kickstarted his legendary career. The album, which is often credited for drastically changing the hip-hop scene with gritty realism and dense wordplay, is being honored today with an auction of a one-of-one NFT. The NFT, titled Heir to the Throne (a reference to the album’s original name), features an artistic reconceptualization of the albums artwork done by prolific Brooklyn artist Derrick Adams. The auction will run from today (June 25th) up until July 2nd, starting at $1000.

“Over the years JAY has collected and supported my work, and so this collaboration is particularly fulfilling. With this NFT project, we jointly embrace the opportunity to further the conversation about how artists of different mediums contribute to a more inclusive society,” Adams said about the project. Adams transformed the original artwork using geometric forms, multi-layered textures- channeling both the artistic importance of the music as well as the emotional impulses of a young and aspiring Jay-Z. The two artists have a kindred relationship, as reflected in the artwork. On this, Adams says: “My portraits aim to capture the sensibility, optimism and beauty of urban life, and in JAY’s work I’ve found tremendous kinship.”

The digital artwork can be seen at Sotheby’s York Avenue Gallery until July 1st as well as virtually in Sotheby’s gallery in Decentraland. “It’s an extraordinary honor for Sotheby’s to present Heir to the Throne in celebration of the 25th anniversary of JAY-Z’s debut masterpiece, Reasonable Doubt,” Sotheby’s Global Head of Pop Culture said, “It’s fitting that JAY-Z’s pioneering lyrical brilliance is commemorated through the iconic vision of acclaimed artist Derrick Adams in a bold new medium.”

A portion of the proceeds from the NFL will be donated to the The Shawn Carter Foundation, which helps those facing socio-economic challenges succeed at colleges and universities.

Will you be participating in the auction for the NFT? How are you celebrating Reasonable Doubt‘s 25th anniversary?

Coi Leray Is Lonely ‘At The Top’ Despite Having Kodak Black And Mustard For Company

Now that Coi Leray has featured on the 2021 XXL Freshman class, she’s got more eyes on her than ever. She makes an effort to satisfy the demand for a follow-up hit to her breakout “No More Parties” with her new single, “At The Top,” courtesy of a beat by hitmaking producer Mustard and fellow Freshman honoree Kodak Black.

Featuring a bright, uptempo beat, “At The Top” finds Coi Leray enjoying her newfound fame while reminding listeners that the only thing that’s changed is the number in her bank account. She uses a variety of flows from the lilting melody of the hook to a Playboi Carti-esque, clipped cadence at the beginning of her verse. Kodak, who was recently sentenced to probation in his 2016 sexual assault case, provides a boastful verse to bring the back end of the song home, bragging that he’s “eating branzino fish.”

Coi’s big year has also included a few feature verses as her contemporaries employed her to add her infectious charm to the remix of “Options” by Earthgang and Wale and to DDG’s “Impatient.”

One Dead After Fashion Nova CEO Targeted In Hollywood

According to a TMZ report, a shootout erupted in the usually-quiet Hollywood Hills neighborhood early this morning between Fashion Nova CEO Richard Saghian’s security and a team of attempted robbers, culminating in one casualty. The three suspects reportedly stalked Saghian’s Rolls Royce through the hills until they reached the CEO’s house. Saghian was able to safely enter his home before the shooting started. One of the suspects passed away at the scene from a gunshot wound and another was sent to the hospital in critical condition. One security guard (a retired sheriff’s deputy) was shot and remains at the hospital.

The altercation started before security was called, however, when the suspects ordered two men in the Rolls Royce to get on the ground and give up their jewelry. Saghian had already made it inside his home where he then informed the security of his situation. A source says it’s still unclear whether Saghian was specifically targeted or was only followed because of the expensive Rolls that he was driving. Witnesses say that they heard over 10 gunshots ring out near the CEO’s household on Blue Jay Way.

The injured security guard was found under a car in a neighbor’s driveway and was taken to the hospital.

The suspects– one dead, one injured, and one unharmed– fled in their Audi but was cornered by LAPD at the Beverly Hills border after suffering a flat tire. The police are currently trying to connect this incident with similar robberies in the area over past months.
