Vanessa Bryant & Mother Sofia Laine Reach Settlement In Lawsuit: Report

Jay-Z said “nobody wins when the family feuds,” but unfortunately, Vanessa Bryant and her mother have been at it in court. Last year, Sofia Laine came forward with accusations that Vanessa kicked her out of the home and took back a vehicle that was given to her by the late Kobe Bryant. Laine would appear on a televised interview to air out her family’s dirty laundry and later, she filed a lawsuit against her daughter.

Laine also stated that prior to his passing, Kobe told his mother-in-law that he would provide for her for the remainder of her life and the grandmother alleges she was officially employed by the family as a nanny at a rate of $96 per hour.

“All I wanted is what I worked for,” Laine previously said. “Vanessa, despite everything that I have been promised and done for her and the family, has attempted to sever all ties and renege on all obligations and agreements. Why would she do this to her own mother? I am so disappointed, hurt, and wronged to the point that I had no choice but to file a lawsuit.”

On Thursday (August 5), TMZ reported that Laine and Vanessa reached a settlement in the lawsuit that the widow formerly called “frivolous, disgraceful, and unimaginably hurtful.” Vanessa claimed that Kobe didn’t make any promises to Laine and denied that her mother acted as a nanny or assistant.

The lawsuit has now been closed as the two parties came to an agreement, but the terms have not been shared publicly.

Lil Mo “Felt Some Type Of Way” After Fabolous Failed To Respond To Collab Request

They’ve worked on songs like “Can’t Let You Go,” “Superwoman,” and “4Ever,” so it came as no surprise that when she was working on “Shining Star,” Lil Mo reached out to her friend Fabolous. However, the track would later feature T-Pain and Fatman Scoop, and during her appearance on The Breakfast Club, Mo was asked about her current relationship with Fab.

“Personal, we gon’ always be cool. Like, we got time in. Like, before he was just spelling his name on Clue’s mixtapes,” she began. “I would say now, I’mma be honest. I sent him the record I got with T-Pain first, like two months before, and he ain’t get back!”

Mo added that Fab did text her back and said, “I got you, Mo.” She made sure to ask if he had to “check” first, and the singer claims he responded by saying that he wasn’t even going to charge her for the feature. “He ain’t get back and I felt some type of way in my spirit,” she said. “Before the pandemic, he was doing a tour and I was touring so we was gon’ link up, but you know, things happen and he just ain’t get back.”

She didn’t have time to waste so Lil Mo shot the song over to T-Pain who was more than happy to collaborate. “He sent it back like, three days later,” said Mo. DJ Envy chimed in to say that “Fab is a forgetful dude” and Lil Mo completely understood. “I know him, but I was just like… ‘Cause [it’s Fab],” she replied.

“Send me the vocals at four o’clock like Jay did Ye, the f*ck? You feel me? Or just, ‘Oh, sh*t! I forgot sis!’ I be forgetting sh*t, but I don’t forget my people.” Envy continued to defend Fabolous and said that friends could even just stop by his home because he’s approachable. Lil Mo made it clear that she doesn’t have any issues with her friend and she was just sharing a story.

“Listen, it wasn’t meant for him to be on it,” she continued. “I don’t have to feel a type of way ’cause at the end of the day, we have history. One thing I do know is that if he and I would have one an EP, because we have a lot of songs, the way people love like, Missy [Elliott] and [Timbaland], we have that chemistry and I’m never gonna let anything get between that.”

Megan Thee Stallion Offers A Lesson About Bitcoin In A Video With Cash App

In addition to being a Grammy-winning rapper, Megan The Stallion is also trying her hand as a financial advisor of sorts. Back in June, she gave away $1 million to teach “Investing For Hotties” through a partnership with Cash App. In an accompanying video, she went over concepts that included fractional shares and diversification while reminding viewers that “buying stocks isn’t only for the big players.” Now, for the next installment in her series with Cash App, Megan has shifted her attention to Bitcoin thanks to a brand new video that aims to teach people about the digital currency.

“Bitcoin is a new kind of money,” the Houston rapper begins as a shirtless man pours her tea. “While the cash in your wallet is issued and regulated by governments, Bitcoin is a cryptocurrency. Like a wild stallion, it can’t be controlled by anyone.” She goes on to explain why Bitcoin is so valuable, why its price changes, and how to purchase Bitcoin during the two-minute video.

The video comes after she became the first rapper to cover the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue. She also earned her first platinum plaque, for her 2020 debut Good News.

Megan Thee Stallion is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Bill Cosby To Appear In Music Video For Rapper’s Song “The Cosby Dance”: Report

In his first months out of prison, Bill Cosby has been a busy man. The industry has been divided in its support for the veteran entertainer who was previously convicted on charges related to sexual assault, and once it was learned that the conviction was overturned due to a technicality, Cosby was a free man.

He has long disputed the allegations against him after dozens of women came forward with the accusatory stories, some going as far back 35 years. There have been rumors that the 84-year-old actor will embark on a comedy tour or continue with speaking arrangements, and on Thursday (August 5), it was reported that Cosby planned on making an appearance in a Rap video.

Rapper Memphis Jelks released his single “The Cosby Dance” which samples The Cosby Show‘s theme song and on the track, Jelks praises the comedian. Jelks is taking his turn at creating a viral dance song, and while it remains to be seen if the public turns it into a wave, reports state Cosby plans on showing face in the music video.

“The greatest legacy one can pass down to their children and grandchildren is not money or material goods, but a legacy of truth and facts. They removed The Cosby Show, A Different World, and many of my Honorary Degrees,” reads a statement to Radar Online. “Now, comes a prolific rapper, Memphis Jelks, who adds to the restoration of my legacy with a powerful new song called ‘The Cosby Dance’ Hey, Hey, Hey — Far From Finished.”

Memphis Jelks continued to laud Cosby when he spoke with the outlet. “I believe the upcoming generation can learn a lot about overcoming adversities by studying and applying the principles of Dr. Cosby’s educational and career choices that have helped lead to his enormous success,” he said. “What better way than a viral song and dance in which the lyrics celebrate some of the great attributes of one of the greatest American comedians of all time, who happens to be Black.”

Cosby’s participation in a Rap video has raised eyebrows for those who remember how often the actor would publicly complain about Rap music and its influences. Check out Memphis Jelks’s song “The Cosby Dance” below.

Da Brat Believes Being Openly Gay In Hip Hop Is “Way Better Now”

Some LGBTQIA+ artists spend the entirety of their careers, if not their lives, without ever speaking about their sexuality. It was about a year ago when Da Brat confirmed that she was gay, and while there has been speculation over the years, the So So Def icon revealed that she was afraid of speaking about her sexuality because of the stigmas in Hip Hop.

Since coming out, Da Brat has been candid about her relationship with mega-successful beauty business mogul Jesseca Dupart, and following the recent controversy with DaBaby, the Rap veteran sat down with TMZ to discuss the state of LGBTQIA+ acceptance in Hip Hop today.

“It’s way better now. Back in the day, it wasn’t cool,” said Da Brat. She mentioned the backlash Ellen Degeneres endured when she came out including being dropped from brands and losing business deals because people didn’t want to work with her. “But now, it’s 2021. It’s a different vibe. Totally. And people are one hundred percent supportive and I’m very grateful that I get to live out loud and I met somebody that made me really wanna not care about what anybody had to say.”

Da Brat added that she’s putting “herself first and my happiness first.” Dupart said she was initially intimidated by dating a celebrity when they got together in 2019, but being gay is something that has been accepted more than in the past. The pair are putting their romance on full display with their new WeTV reality show Brat Loves Judy, and Da Brat spoke about letting the world into her personal life for the first time.

Kevin Love Trade Market Is Reportedly A Barren Wasteland

Kevin Love was one of the best players at his position about eight to nine years ago, however, things have changed for the worse over the last few years. While Love had some great moments with the Cleveland Cavaliers back in 2015 and 2016, there is no denying that he has regressed without LeBron James on the roster. Some nights, Love puts in very little effort and the younger players on the roster have taken notice.

For months, the Cavs have been looking for a solution to this issue, and it is clear as day that the solution is trading Love to another team. Unfortunately for the Cavs, they have been unable to find a trade suitor as not too many teams are interested in the veteran. In fact, according to Sam Amico of Hoops Wire, there isn’t a single team that is actively pursuing Love.

Per Amico:

“While teams such as the Warriors, Pelicans and others expressed minimal interest after the season, an opposing general manager recently told Hoops Wire that there is currently “no market” for Love.”

The asking price for Love has yet to be determined, although, at this point, the Cavs might be lucky to get a bag of Spalding game-ready balls and a Coca-Cola vending machine. In the meantime, the Cavs and Love might just have to consider a buyout as it could be the only way for both sides to resolve their issues.

Jim Jones Denies Falling Off Stage During “Verzuz”: “I Dove!”

It was a great night for Hip Hop earlier this week when The LOX and Dipset joined together for Verzuz. The two collectives brought fans some of their greatest hits and proved that top-tier lyricism is a mainstay in the culture. Hundreds of thousands of fans watched at any given time as the groups went bar-for-bar while teasing one another, and in the end, Jadakiss reigned supreme for not only his delivery but his dedication to the performance.

Everyone involved received applause and next up is a tour with The LOX and Dipset, and while there were several memorable moments, Jim Jones allegedly falling off the stage stole attention.

We shared the video of the viral moment and now, Jones has returned to deny that he accidentally took a tumble. “For the record, I did not fall off the stage,” he said in a video. “My ring flew off my hand and I dove off that motherf*cker head first like I was going swimming. I dove! I didn’t fall.” He couldn’t help but laugh at himself as he recalled the unfortunate moment.

Juicy J Is Taking Bets That Kanye West Doesn’t Release “DONDA” Tonight

This famed phantom album is just hours away from materializing—hopefully—and fans are gearing up for another round of Donda madness. It was just two weeks ago when Kanye seemingly promised that his album was on the way, and the rapper even hosted listening events in Las Vegas and Atlanta.

Thousands of people swarmed the Mercedes-Benz Stadium for what was slated to be an epic rollout and release of the anticipated project. Yet, at the stroke of midnight, fans were left perplexed and Donda never arrived.

What has followed has been an onslaught of reports regarding Ye finishing up the record with 25th-hour-styled additions. West has reportedly been streaming Live on Apple Music with his “Countdown to Donda” event, and with all of the hype surrounding the album’s release, Juicy J isn’t convinced that Ye will deliver.

Over on Twitter, the Three 6 Mafia icon made an offer. “10k bet Kanye don’t drop his album tonight,” he wrote.” There have been plenty of people who tried telling the megaproducer that West will, indeed, deliver Donda, but he remains unconvinced. “He not gone drop that album tonight.” We’re not sure if there has been anyone who has formally agreed to Juicy J’s bet, but you can let us know if you agree with him.
