B-Real & Freeway Keep One Rolled On “Triple OG”

It’s a national holiday for smokers across the globe. Unfortunately, 4/20 isn’t exactly as celebratory as it was in previous years because of the pandemic but still, people are at home smoking away. For some of our cannabis enthusiasts, who just happen to be equally fantastic MCs, are blessing us with new heat today.

B-Real slid through with two new records today, both produced by the legendary Scott Storch. Paying homage to the quintessential West Coast cannabis strain, on “Triple OG,” the Cypress Hill frontman connects with Philadelphia’s Freeway for a smooth banger to run the bass up on your whip while you are hotboxing the afternoon away.

The other record B-Real released earlier today is titled, “Mother Mary” featuring Three 6 Mafia artist and HNHH’s Mafia Radio host DJ Paul.

Quotable Lyrics
The hustle is strong, the hustle is on, the paper we flip
Too suspicious, they come and goin’, the demons, they chasing me
Been in the game, there’s never been one to replace ’em
You were never in the conversation
Never a part of my congregation
Never a thought in my situation
I’m lightin’ the night up with my medication

Lil Keed, NLE Choppa, And More React To Sean Paul’s ‘Like Glue’ Video

After Almighty Suspect, Blac Chyna, and Guapdad 4000 gave their impressions of Canadian dancehall star Snow’s “Informer” video in the last episode of React Like You Know, this week’s episode sticks to the dancehall lane with Jamaican icon of the genre, Sean Paul, and his 2003 video for “Like Glue.” Released as the third single to Sean Paul’s second album Dutty Rock which dropped just a year earlier, the single peaked at No. 13 on the Billboard Hot 100, was successful worldwide, and was a fixture of music video countdown shows’ daily rotation for a good, long while.

Of course, for our panel of fresh-faced, up-and-coming artists, that may as well have been 100 years ago — NLE Choppa was only eight months old when the single was released, and most of the others wouldn’t have been in the target demo for shows like TRL and 106 & Park just yet, either. Most only remember the song from family get-togethers, although Shootergang Kony fondly remembers Sean Paul from the EA rapper wrestling game, Def Jam: Fight For NY (a true classic that deserves an HD remake and/or sequel — someone please get on that immediately, thanks).

Jorja Smith’s Snappy Single ‘Gone’ Announces Her Project ‘Be Right Back’

Fans have been waiting to her details about a new project from Jorja Smith ever since the UK singer captivated audiences with soothing vocals on her 2018 debut album Lost & Found. With the release of her recent single “Addicted,” it seemed as though Smith was gearing up for something exciting and on Monday, the singer officially returned with a big announcement.

Smith shared the snappy single “Gone” on Monday, which arrived alongside the announcement of her forthcoming eight-track project Be Right Back. About the song “Gone,” Smith says she hopes her listeners can derive their own meaning from her lyrics, adding that she wrote the track about tragedy:

“There’s something about being able to write about one thing and for it to mean so many different things to others. I love that this song, well any of my songs really, will be interpreted in different ways, depending on the experiences of the people listening. This one is just me asking why people have to be taken from us.”

About the album as a whole, Smith says, “It’s called Be Right Back because it’s just something I want my fans to have right now, this isn’t an album and these songs wouldn’t have made it. If I needed to make these songs, then someone needs to hear them too.”

Boosie Badazz Gets Banned From Instagram Again

The war between Boosie Badazz and social media giant Instagram continues… A few months ago, the Baton Rouge-based rap icon revealed that his account had been banned from the platform after hosting several nudity-filled sessions on Instagram Live and slapping a man for hundreds of dollars on his story. He returned shortly thereafter with his new account @boosienewig. According to Boosie, even that new page was taken down this week and this time, he’s unsure of the reason.

“They took my ig again n I ain’t post nothin r go live,” wrote Boosie on Twitter, calling out Mark Zuckerberg and alleging that his platform is racist. “WHEN U WINNING THE DEVIL GO TRY N SLOW U UP #stayfocus IM CHOSEN. Ig just be f*cking over me #racist ass b*tches.”

It’s unclear whether Boosie plans to return to the social network with a different username or if he has been perma-banned this time. For now, you’ll want to follow him on Twitter where he will surely be sharing his popular opinions

Recently, the rapper used his page to ask fans for food stamps, offering to exchange money for them. Perhaps that’s the reason why he was booted this time around? What do you think caused his exit from IG?

Andre 3000 Thanked The Comedian Who Compared Outkast To The Beatles In An Unorthodox Way

When comedian Ron Funches tweeted that Outkast is better than The Beatles, he likely knew his opinion would be controversial and generate plenty of discussion as a result. But he probably wasn’t expecting Andre 3000 to reach out to him and offer to send him a gift for, as he puts it, “telling the truth.” Funches explained the reasoning behind his viral tweet, analyzed the reaction to it, and revealed his correspondence with the Outkast member during last night’s episode of The Late Late Show with James Corden.

“What prompted me to write it was just my love of OutKast,” he recalled. “It’s not hatred to the Beatles — I think the Beatles are amazing.” However, he said, “Some of the things that I grew up with and that I value aren’t necessarily given the same amount of worth… They moved the entire rap industry to Atlanta, how they changed it from rapping about drugs to rapping about art, rapping about life. Erykah Badu over Yoko Ono, all day!”

Funches also said that Andre did reach out, joking that the always unconventional rapper sent him an owl — as in Harry Potter — letting him know the gift was on the way. “I hope it’s a handmade flute doesn’t work,” he giggled.

Dave Chappelle, Talib Kweli & Yasiin Bey Announce Brand New ‘The Midnight Miracle’ Podcast

In the streaming era, podcasts have quickly become the preferred method of consuming long-form media. Of course, the most authentic and enjoyable podcast experiences happen between people who are well-acquainted with each other already.

Luckily for listeners, Dave Chappelle, Talib Kweli, and Yasiin Bey have announced they are launching a new podcast called The Midnight Miracle. The three have been friends for years now, so the combination is not completely surprising. According to the press release, the show “provides a glimpse into a very interesting season in the lives of the three hosts and their friends, and features guests from among the country’s most influential cultural icons.”

Drake Teases “Certified Lover Boy” x Chrome Hearts Collab

We might be close to the release of Drake’s highly anticipated project, Certified Lover Boy. The project has been delayed on several occasions but Scary Hours 2 should be able to hold fans over temporarily. In the meantime, he’s been dabbling in major fashion collaborations to feed the hungry fanbase that’s seeking content. It was only a few months back when he finally launched his NOCTA line with Nike.

You may have noticed Drake flexing his collection of Chrome Hearts on his Instagram Story over the past few weeks. Most didn’t think much of it except a major flex from the Toronto star but it appears that he’s been dropping a trail of breadcrumbs of clues leading up to an upcoming collaboration with the high-end fashion line.

Chubbs dropped a major announcement on his Instagram page recently indicating that the collaboration with NOCTA and Chrome Hearts is underway. The OVO member offered a look at a few pieces from the collection on Instagram, captioned, “Certified Chrome,” along with tagging Drake and Chrome Hearts’ official collab. He shared another video of him in the Certified Lover Boy x Chrome Hearts attire, writing, “We dress up in our own shit.” Drake later shared a photo of Oliver El-Khatib rocking a pair of Chrome Hearts pants in front of a Lambo truck.

Fans might not be entirely surprised by this collaboration since Drake did make reference to it in the music video for “What’s Next.” At the 1:06 mark, the rapper briefly shows off the design on a Certified Lover Boy x Chrome Hearts hoodie.

No word on when it’ll be dropping but hopefully, it arrives alongside the album. Are you excited about Certified Lover Boy?

Megan Thee Stallion Makes It Clap In Slow Motion For TikTok

Megan Thee Stallion has been teaching other leading ladies in hip-hop on the subtle art of twerking, offering to coach Coi Leray to help her improve her skills a few weeks ago. Judging from Coi’s recent videos on TikTok, Megan’s advice has been greatly paying off. While she may have taken a repose from her regular thirst-trappery after entering a committed relationship with rapper/songwriter Pardison Fontaine, Megan decided that it was time to gift the masses with a special clip this week, coming through with a quick display in twerking excellence.

“On my way to hottie booty camp,” wrote the three-time GRAMMY Award winner as her caption on TikTok. She proceeded to make it clap, twerking in slow motion as the camera captured every movement of her gluteus maximus. Clearly, she hasn’t lost her grasp on the art. Rocking camo booty shorts, a black crop top, and a trucker hat, the 26-year-old listened to her 2018 record “Freak Nasty” from her Tina Snow tape. In recent months, she’s been teasing a return to the icy raps of her earlier career– perhaps this is the latest sign that we’re in for another Tina Snow era.

People are clearly fans of the new upload, with nearly 3 million accounts “liking” the video.

Megan isn’t the only rapper putting in work on TikTok. Her twerking student Coi Leray took over the “Ski Challenge” with her own take on the dance, bringing props and all to promote the latest record from Young Thug and Gunna. Read more about that here.
