Grandmaster Flash Says Dr. Dre’s New Album Is “Game-Changing”

The cat is out of the bag. Dr. Dre is working on a new album, one that has led to a list of one-hundred-and-forty-six songs being assembled. As we work on a more comprehensive guide to everything we know about the Doc’s next project (look for that to drop soon), another hip-hop legend has emerged to share some promising news on Dre’s anticipated fourth studio album.

Grandmaster Flash was recently invited to Dre’s studio, and from the sound of it, the pair had a great time speaking on a variety of topics. Naturally, Dre ended up previewing what he’s been cooking up, and Flash made sure to let the world know that we’re in for a treat.

“I get a call from one of my heroes he invites me to the CRIB he takes me down to the STUDIO he played me a project that will change the game!!” captions Flash, alongside a picture of himself and Dre. “Totally incredible, we top off the day for 2hrs talkin about Music, Family Health and Life thanks for the Invite Dr Dre.”

There you have it. In case you weren’t quite convinced, it seems as if Dr. Dre’s upcoming album is in — to some degree, at least — a state of completion. Based on Flash’s words, we’re looking at something truly innovative, unsurprising given Dre’s reputation as a sonic perfectionist.

As for potential guest appearances — we’ve already seen some of the usual suspects connected to the project, with Eminem and The D.O.C having recently linked up with Dre not too long ago. Don’t be surprised to see plenty of familiar faces lining the tracklist whenever that does end up surfacing. Who knows — perhaps we’ll even get an official announcement at some point this year.

Check out Grandmaster Flash’s post below, and sound off if you’re excited for Dr. Dre’s first studio album since 2015’s Compton.

Ric Flair Officially Leaves WWE, Fans React

Ric Flair is one of the biggest legends in the history of wrestling and if you’ve been following the WWE for a long time, then you probably have a particular soft spot for Flair. The Nature Boy has been with the organization for quite a few decades now and even in his 70s, Flair has remained a part of the WWE family. Of course, his daughter Charlotte is one of the most popular women’s wrestlers out right now, and he has had every reason to stay with the company and collect checks.

Recently, however, numerous big names have been leaving the WWE and it looks like many of them are hoping to go to an organization like the AEW, which values the fans a lot more. As for Flair, the politics of the WWE can be strenuous, especially at his age.

Now, it is being reported that Flair was able to officially negotiate his release from the WWE, which means he no longer has to work for Vince McMahon. While this may be a triumph for Flair, there is no denying that he is going to be missed by all of the fans out there. In fact, Flair became the top trend on Twitter as fans wished Flair a happy farewell from the WWE.

You can see what fans had to say about the news, in the tweets below. In the meantime, sound off on the matter in the comments section.

Seth McFarlane Reveals Why He Wants To Move “Family Guy” To Another Network

Whether he’s joking or not, Seth McFarlane has shared yet another public criticism of Fox and stated that he wishes that Family Guy aired on a different television network. His desire to secure the beloved adult animation a new home reportedly stems from his disdain for Fox News host and political commentator Tucker Carlson.

According to Complex, McFarlane has likely taken offense to one of Carlson’s characteristically outlandish claims, and while it can’t be pinpointed which one inspired McFarlane’s recent statement, Carlson recently claimed that Dr. Anthony Fauci “created COVID.” Whatever Carlson said, it prompted the Family Guy creator to say the following:

“Tucker Carlson’s latest opinion piece once again makes me wish Family Guy was on any other network,” Seth McFarlane says. “Look, Fox, we both know this marriage isn’t working anymore. The sex is only once a year, I don’t get along with your mother, and well… I’ve been having an affair with NBC.”

According to Complex, it’s safe to assume that he was referring to one of Tucker Carlson’s COVID-related comments because McFarlane followed up his original tweet with a post about the importance of science. “Science is the only tool we have, and it’s doing its best,” the American Dad co-creator wrote while resharing a screenshot of a quote about science.

Stay tuned to see if this was just a barbed joke from Seth McFarlane or if he has serious plans to move Family Guy from its original network.

Hologram, DJ Muggs, & Action Bronson Unite On “Don’t Ride With The Drugs”

With plenty of strong releases having dropped this past Friday, a few of the deeper gems happened to fly under the radar. One such gem includes Hologram and DJ Muggs’ new collaborative project American Cheese, a dark and grimy dose of slick boom-bap underground hip-hop.

It feels appropriate to shine a light on one of the highlights, which happens to feature a lyricist that many know and love — Action Bronson, who banks off his recognizability in the opening moments of his verse. Over a lively piano loop, Hologram sets it off with a laid-back verse, his delivery playing nicely against Bronsolinio’s dynamic flow. No stranger to collaborating with one another — Holo actually appeared on Action’s Lamb On Rice project — “Don’t Ride With The Drugs” is another strong duet from the like-minded emcees.

Check this one out now, and if you like what you hear, peep the entirety of Hologram and Muggs’ American Cheese right here.

QUOTABLE LYRICS

I caught the alley-opp, jumped off my left foot
Brought the thunder, serve a motherfucker up just like some hummus
Two thug dykes, pack a Jersey, red Reggie White
Goin’ back and forth, uptown to cop haze, I’m talking every night

Kawhi Leonard Reportedly Sabotaged Russell Westbrook In 2019

Everyone who is a fan of the NBA remembers what went down in 2019 as Kawhi Leonard signed with the Los Angeles Clippers. Pretty well every analyst knew that he wanted to come home to L.A. which meant the Toronto Raptors were off the table. Not to mention, the Los Angeles Lakers had just added Anthony Davis, so the Lakers didn’t make all that much sense. Instead, Leonard went to a team where he could help build something special. In the meantime, he was also able to get Paul George traded to the Clippers, from OKC.

Not long after George’s exodus from the Thunder, Westbrook was also able to force a trade and in the end, he got sent to Houston where he played with former teammate James Harden. According to a new report from ESPN, however, it appears as though Westbrook was the one who wanted to play with Kawhi, all along.

As Ramona Shelburne reports, Westbrook had sent a voicemail to Kawhi telling him that he wanted to play with the two-time champion in Los Angeles. Leonard never replied to the message and instead, relayed the message to Paul George, stating that he would rather play with the former MVP finalist instead. From there, calls were made and George was sent to the Clippers, all while Westbrook was left scrambling ahead of the 2019-20 season.

Now, Westbrook is finally home in LA, although he will be playing for the Lakers alongside Anthony Davis and LeBron James. Westbrook has the ability to get the last laugh in this situation, and there is no denying the battle for Los Angeles will be incredible this year.

Lizzo Is Starting A ‘New Era’ Next Week With ‘Rumors,’ Her First Single In Two Years

Lizzo’s most recent single was 2020’s “Cuz I Love You,” which comes from her 2019 album of the same name. So, it’s been a couple years since we’ve gotten some new music from Lizzo. She’s gearing up for a new era now, as her new single, “Rumors,” is set to drop on August 13.

She shared a promotional image for the song, which features her in a flash gold dress and equally shiny gold jewelry, giving a “shh” sign with her hand. She captioned the post, “NEW ERA B*TCH. ‘RUMORS’. 8/13.” Her post doesn’t indicate that “Rumors” is a song, but Lizzo’s website and pre-order pages do.

She more-than-suggested a few days ago that Mark Ronson is working on her album, saying in a TikTok video in response to a fan question, “A album? Absolutely not, I’m not making no f*ckin’ album! I’m not in a studio. This isn’t Mark Ronson. This isn’t a whole board. I’m not hanging out with songwriters like [Philip Lawrence of Bruno Mars songwriting/production team The Smeezingtons]. [laughs] I’m not making a f*ckin’ album! Where you get that from?”

This comes ahead of a busy stretch, as she’s set to perform at festivals like Bonnaroo, Firefly, and the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival.

Lizzo is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Kanye West & The Weeknd Are Up To Something

Kanye West’s Donda is said to be arriving this week, but knowing the inconclusive megastar, it’s entirely possible that the anticipated album will be met with another late-game delay. Still, the wheels remain in motion, as Yeezy has taken up residence in the Mercedes Benz stadium for an uninterrupted creative getaway, complete with a private chef on deck.

As he and a non-hostage Mike Dean work hard on the finishing touches, Kanye has decided to have a bit of fun during the process. He recently uploaded an interesting teaser on his newly-revitalized Instagram page, one that may very well signal a collaboration yet to come. From the look of his recent calls, Yeezy and The Weeknd (saved in Kanye’s phone as “Abel Weeknd”) have been in frequent communication, and after hours at that.

Given that Kanye is seemingly days away from releasing a new album, it stands to reason that these late-night convos stretch beyond shooting the breeze. It’s entirely possible that we’ll see the Canadian pop icon show up on Donda in some capacity, as he once did on The Life Of Pablo by contributing vocals to “FML.” At this point, Donda is shaping up to be quite the star-studded affair, with reported appearances from Lil Baby, Lil Durk, Roddy Ricch, and many more.

Check out Ye’s intriguing new post below, and be sure to share your predictions as to whether or not Donda is dropping on its alleged August 5th release date.

Playboi Carti’s Lollapalooza Set Disorients Trapped Miley Cyrus Fans

As previously reported, Playboi Carti had Lollapalooza unbelievably lit this past weekend. Yet while several fans were understandably stoked to witness Carti perform some of his most brazen cuts from Whole Lotta Red in person, some unsuspecting Lollapalooza attendees found themselves in an absolutely foreign environment once the AWGE artist hit the stage.

According to HipHopDX, some of the fans who were waiting for Miley Cyrus to take the stage after Playboi Carti’s unknowingly signed up for the rage that comes with a Carti show, and they were not happy about it.

For anyone who needs a crash course in what a live Playboi Carti show is like, think Travis Scott-esque mayhem but with less mainstream Hip-Hop fans. Needless to say, it’s not the best place for young adolescents who are most looking forward to a set from Miley Cyrus. Ever since Carti’s Lollapalooza set has gone viral online, the reactions from the disoriented Miley Cyrus fans have gained traction as well. See some of them below.

Emmuel Reyes, a TikTok user operating under the handle @_emwell, broke down the entire situation perfectly by giving props to Playboi Carti for throwing such an electrifying show, joking about the disparate contrast between Carti and Miley Cyrus’ fan bases, and criticizing Lollapalooza for putting fans in that position in the first place. Check out their Emmuel Reyes’ commentary below.

Do you think that the TikToker above has a point and that Lollapalooza should have been far more careful with scheduling Miley Cyrus after Playboi Carti? Or do you think it’s all a part of what makes music festivals so unforgettable?

Boosie Speaks On DaBaby: “It’s Sad How Y’all Trying To Ban Artists”

DaBaby has been the main focus of the hip-hop world these days thanks to the comments he made at Rolling Loud about gay people and HIV/AIDS. These words got DaBaby into a lot of trouble as many fans were outraged by his ignorant statements. In fact, the backlash got so bad that the artist was removed from various festival lineups including Lollapalooza, Day N Vegas, and Governor’s Ball New York. Moving forward, it could be hard for DaBaby to book gigs, and not everyone is happy with this public cancelation.

For instance, Boosie took to Instagram today where he had a strong stance on the DaBaby saga. In the clip below, Boosie claims that many are trying to push the “gay agenda” onto artists so that they can then promote it to the kids. Boosie believes this will cause many children to become gay, which is absolutely not how it works. Either way, Boosie has always felt this way, so it’s not surprising to see him double down.

“It’s sad how y’all trying to force this gay stuff on the world,” Boosie said. “How y’all trying to ban artists. It’s sad bro. In ten years it ain’t going to be normal for a kid to be straight. Y’all trying to force it on these kids bros. Push it on all the biggest artists. You attacking these kids bro. We’re going to make all of them promote it and who gonna follow, the kids.”

Earlier today, DaBaby actually apologized for his comments saying “As a man who has had to make his own way from very difficult circumstances, having people I know publically working against me— knowing that what I needed was education on these topics and guidance— has been challenging. I appreciate the many people who came to me with kindness, who reached out to me privately to offer wisdom, education, and resources. That’s what I needed and it was received.”

It remains to be seen how DaBaby’s apology will be taken, although it seems as though he is earnestly taking steps to better himself, which is always a positive sight to see.
