Ben Simmons Continues To Ghost Sixers, Wants To Go To Warriors

Ben Simmons is one of the most talked-about players in the entire NBA, although it isn’t for the best reasons. In the playoffs, Simmons was awful for the Sixers as he could barely get buckets. There were multiple times in which Simmons looked timid at the rim, which led to a lot of frustration amongst Simmons’ Sixers teammates.

There were reports that Simmons could be traded, and these days, a move is looking likely. As we have reported in the past, the asking price for Simmons is quite large, and numerous teams are declining rich offers as a result. In fact, Simmons has even ghosted the Sixers, which is further proof that he wants out sooner rather than later.

A new report from Jason Dumas suggests that Simmons has cut off everyone on the Sixers, even his own teammates and head coach. Based on his sources, Simmons is positioning himself to leave Philadelphia and that if he had to choose where he goes next, he would absolutely pick the Warriors.

The Sixers have already negotiated with Golden State, although the Warriors felt as though the asking price was astronomically steep.

A Simmons trade could have massive ramifications on the shape of the league heading into next season. If Simmons does, indeed, go to the Golden State Warriors, then you would have to expect the Warriors to be contenders, especially with their backcourt of Klay Thompson and Steph Curry reuniting.

Twitter Slanders Dr. Dre After Daughter Reveals She’s Homeless

Excitement over Dr. Dre’s potential upcoming album has been somewhat overtaken, after his daughter, LaTanya Young, revealed to the Daily Mail that she has been living out of her car.

The 38-year-old, the eldest daughter of the storied producer and Lisa Johnson, has been working as a delivery driver for DoorDash and Uber Eats to support herself, she told the publication. She reportedly has not seen her father in 18 years, and has to go through his team to reach him, which proves difficult. He reportedly has not given financial assistance to LaTonya since January 2020.

She is a single mother of four but her children do not stay with her, instead staying with friends while she takes odd jobs to make ends meet.

According to LaTanya, her father’s lawyer claimed he won’t help her out financially since she has chosen to speak with the press about her father in the past. Additionally, her children have never met their world-renowned grandfather, which she says pains her deeply. Her children are old enough to know who Dr. Dre is, but they are shocked that he doesn’t seem to want much to do with them.

Given this bombshell information circulating across the internet, in addition to Dr. Dre’s troubled past with domestic abuse, Twitter is not letting the 56-year-old artist go lightly.

Check out some of the dialogue surrounding his daughter’s comments below.

DaBaby Quotes Future’s “My Savages” In Response To Backlash

DaBaby is no stranger to facing controversy, having been embroiled in various legal issues throughout his career. Continuously falling back on his authenticity, DaBaby has long remained defiant even as the critics bore down upon him. Yet not long ago, DaBaby found himself facing what may very well amount to the biggest backlash he’s seen so far, and the consequences show no sign of slowing down.

By now, his Rolling Loud rant has been widely reported; the homophobic content prompted many in the industry to rise up against DaBaby, including Questlove, who penned a lengthy reflection in response. It didn’t take long for Festivals — many of which had booked DaBaby — began to sever ties with the rapper.

It quickly became a domino effect, with DaBaby being dropped from Lollapalooza, Day N Vegas, Governor’s Ball, Parklife Festival, and many more. He even found himself blackballed from certain radio stations, with reports that his Dua Lipa collab “Levitating” was pulled from rotation by several radio programmers. It’s unclear as to how substantial the damage will be, but Akademiks predicted that even streaming platforms would be taking action soon enough

Though DaBaby issued a pair of apologies, the damage control was not quite sufficient to staunch the bleeding. At this stage, all the rapper can really do is sit back and wait for the dust to settle. He did come through to send a message on Instagram, as captured by Akademiks, signalling that he remains relatively unfazed by the circumstances surrounding his name.

Letting the immortal Future Hendrix speak on his behalf, DaBaby mugs the camera while Future’s Monster favorite “My Savages” rings out. “That what you really expect? You think I’m sitting up depressed?” raps Future. “I’m somewhere countin’ up me a check / I hate I had to fuck with any of you n***as, that’s my only regret.”

Check out DaBaby’s latest update below, and keep an eye out for the next chapter in this saga, which feels far from over. Do you think DaBaby’s once-strong penchant for securing bags is in genuine jeopardy?

Usher Confirms That He & T-Pain Are On Good Terms

Usher is currently killing it in Las Vegas. With several show dates stretching all the way until January 1, 2022, the Confessions artist has been applying pressure with his residency, and his highly anticipated shows have even drawn out the likes of LeBron James, Floyd Mayweather, Kevin Hart, Ella Mai, and several other notable celebrities.

Now, weeks after the start of his Las Vegas residency, Usher has landed the cover of Billboard’s 2021 R&B/Hip-Hop Power Players issue. During his interview with the outlet, Usher discusses his decision to go to Vegas, his progress on a potential Confessions 2, and of course, his viral comments about T-Pain that stemmed from Netflix’s recent music documentary This Is Pop.

For those who may have forgotten or overlooked the initial story entirely, T-Pain was recently one of the artists prominently featured in Netflix’s This Is Pop docuseries. In the series’ second episode, the phenomenon of autotune is explored, and in a rather sad scene, T-Pain reveals that Usher confronted him about his autotune usage and slammed him for ruining the music industry.

T-Pain says that he and the R&B legend had a conversation on an airplane circa 2013, and to his surprise, Usher told him, “You kinda f*cked up music.” The Rappa Ternt Sanga artist talked about his psyche at the time, saying, “Literally, at that point, I couldn’t listen. Is he right? Did I f*ck up music? And that is the very moment — and I don’t think I realized this for a long time. That’s the very moment that started a four-year depression for me.”

T-Pain has since publicly expressed his continued love and respect for Usher and reiterated that the two R&B stars are very much on good terms, and now, in his interview with Billboard, Usher has echoed the autotune pioneer’s sentiments.

“I’m happy that T-Pain said something,” Usher revealed. “I’m not sure if it was before or after our actual conversation, after I heard what was said. It was very hurtful to know that he had experienced that kind of hardship in life. I wouldn’t wish that on any person. Private conversations for me have always been intended to uplift. But when or if people get pieces of it, they can always have some other interpretation. But we’ve spoken since and we’re good.”

Ice-T Makes It Clear He Has No Problem With Coco Austin Breastfeeding Their Five-Year-Old

It’s not uncommon that Ice-T finds himself in some pretty wild Twitter discourse, but the latest debate involved Coco Austin, his wife of nearly two decades. Austin is pretty candid with how she chooses to parent their children, but people were incredulous when she revealed she continues to breastfeed their five-year-old daughter. Ice-T has come to Austin’s defense, making it clear he doesn’t mind with some NSFW comments.

Austin addressed on her decision to continue breastfeeding their daughter, Chanel, in a recent interview with US Weekly. “Chanel still likes my boobs. It’s a big bonding moment for a mother and your child,” she said. “Why take that away from her?” Austin added: “If she doesn’t want it, all right, that’s where you stop it. But I’m not just going to say no.”

Many took to Twitter after hearing Austin’s comments, prompting Ice-T to join the conversation. The rapper defended his wife’s actions endlessly, saying they still feed Chanel solid food.

Ice-T attempted to quell the Twitter uproar by telling users to stop worrying about his child. “That’s what’s weird.. Now go back in the basement,” he wrote.

The rapper ended his Twitter saga by brushing off the haters and giving himself a new nickname.

Aaliyah’s Estate Says Executives Are ‘Leeching Off’ Her Music As Her Former Label Teases A Release

Aaliyah’s music influenced an entire generation of R&B music lovers before her tragic death nearly two decades ago. Despite her popularity, much of her music isn’t available on streaming services, a fact her estate has been working hard to change. But shortly after her former record label teased an announcement, the singer’s estate accused executives of “leeching off” her life’s work.

Late last year, Aaliyah’s Estate won control of her YouTube channel and shortly thereafter promised fans they were making headway on an agreement to get her music on widely available streaming services. Things were looking up when a social media account for her former record label, Blackground Records 2.0, popped up with an exciting teaser in the form of a website promising #AaliyahIsComing. Many assumed this to mean word of her music on streaming services, but apparently it was a move made without the authorization of her estate.

Aaliyah’s Estate issued a statement Wednesday making it clear they did not authorize her former label’s announcement. “For 20 years we have battled behind the scenes, enduring shadowy tactics of deception with unauthorized projects targeted to tarnish,” they wrote. The estate continued to say it is an “unscrupulous endeavor to release Aaliyah’s music” without transparency or their approval:

“Now, in this 20th year, this unscrupulous endeavor to release Aaliyah’s music without any transparency or full accounting to the estate compels our hearts to express a word – forgiveness. Although we will continue to defend ourselves and her legacy lawfully and justly, we want to preempt the inevitable attacks on our character by all the individuals who have emerged from the shadows to leech off of Aaliyah’s life’s work.”

Aaliyah’s Estate goes on to say they are continuing to manage her memorial fund and “other creative projects that embody Aaliyah’s true essence.”

LeBron James Called Jadakiss The Most Underrated Hip-Hop Artist ‘Of All-Time’

One of the best things to emerge from the pandemic is the popular face-off livestream Verzuz, which pits two legendary artists against each other in a showdown. This week’s battle between The Lox and Dipset seemed like it would be a close one out of the gate, but The Lox, and most prominently Jadakiss, pulled out ahead to gain accolades and praise that dubbed them the clear winner. Plenty of hip-hop heads are weighing in on the impact of Jadakiss as an MC, and noted hip-hop head LeBron James had to put his own two cents in when it comes to The Lox member’s greatness.

“JADAKISS is the most UNDERRATED hip-hop artist of ALL-TIME!! MY GOODNESS,” the basketball star wrote, adding a hefty dose of emojis to his all-caps praise. “@thelox
just so [fire emoji],” he continued. “3 bullies.” Then, he shared his favorite clip from the battle, where Jadakiss launches into a freestyle over Biggie’s “Who Shot Ya” instrumental.

Considering LeBron has been an avid hip-hop listener for all of his life, and even has an executive producer credit on 2 Chainz’s also underrated Rap Or Go To The League, his praise has to be feel pretty good. Giving hip-hop legends their flowers while they’re still here is always a strong move.

Young Nudy Stacks Up “Bodies On Bodies”

Young Nudy is a man on a mission this year, having recently come through with his second project of 2021, Rich Shooter. A follow-up to the spooky and sinister DR. EV4L — read our review right here — this new project features even more new material from the Atlanta rapper. Largely shifting away from the horror motif of its predecessor, Rich Shooter’s production is more in line with some of Nudy’s previous work, whimsical and strange while still retaining a hard-hitting edge.

With plenty of songs to unpack, one of the immediate standouts is “Bodies On Bodies,” immediately capturing the vibe of the album’s cover. Producer Coupe laces Nudy with an eerie sci-fi banger, an original blend of camp and carnage. It’s the exact sort of beat that Nudy tends to excel over, his effortless flow and casual threats still packing a punch — who else can mix Clifford The Big Red Dog and murder most foul in one fell swoop? You can thank his charisma for that, a quality that has kept Nudy engaging throughout his prolific discography.

Check out “Bodies On Bodies” now, and support Nudy by streaming Rich Shooter right here.

QUOTABLE LYRICS

Man, I’m still in the hood, in the 6, bitch
I’m so motherfuckin’ ruthless, I can’t help it
Hell yeah, you know I’m red like I’m Clifford
Beam on your head came from the end of my pistol

Nas Previews “King’s Disease II” Single “Rare”

It’s about to be a great day for Nas fans, and let’s be honest, that’s a description that basically summarizes the vast majority of hip-hop heads. Tomorrow marks the arrival of King’s Disease II, a spontaneously announced sequel that once again pairs Nas up with Hit-Boy, who laced the majority of the Grammy-Award-winning King’s Disease.

With features from Eminem (for the first time on wax), Lauryn Hill, YG, Blxst, Charlie Wilson, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, and more, the fifteen-track project has certainly captured attention; no easy feat considering that another rap titan, Kanye West, is also set to be dropping an album at midnight.

Now, Nas has come through to kick up a bit of hype, previewing the album’s lead single “Rare” on his Instagram page. Though we only catch a glimpse at the instrumental, there’s a vintage innocence that evokes memories of Stillmatic favorites like “You’re Da Man” and “2nd Childhood.” Clearly, Hit-Boy and Nas understand the significance of following up an album-of-the-year contender, and it should be interesting to see how the pair deviate and elevate on this go-around.

“Tune in to the premiere of “Rare” tomorrow midnight est,” writes Nas, alongside a clip of the upcoming music video, which is set to drop alongside the full album. Based on how hard he’s teasing the video, expect this one to be a cinematic effort from the rap visionary. Check out the snippet of both song and visuals below, and look for King’s Disease II to land at the stroke of midnight.
