“Venom: Let There Be Carnage” Has Been Delayed Again

As the pandemic continues to escalate in the wake of the delta variant, movie studios are rethinking their release dates. We most likely won’t see another nationwide shutdown on the level of 2020, however, some states are still ramping up restrictions.

New York City and Los Angeles, two of the biggest movie markets in the world, are still battling with restrictions. And that may possibly be why Venom: Let There Be Carnage has been delayed yet again.

According to Variety, Sony Pictures has announced plans to delay the theatrical release of Venom: Let There Be Carnage. The sequel, which has been delayed multiple times, was set to open on Sept. 24 in the U.S. and will now debut on Oct. 15.

Starring Tom Hardy, the first Venom was a pleasant surprise for comic fans. Although it wasn’t the best comic film ever, it still had good humor, a small and contained storyline, and great action. It made $855 million at the global box office, prompting the production of a sequel. The sequel will star Hardy,Woody Harrelson, Michelle Williams, Reid Scott, and Naomie Harris. Andy Serkis took over directing duties from Ruben Fleischer. Fans are excited to see Harrelson as Carnage, the violent offspring of Venom. Looks like they will have to wait just a little longer.

Bas Is All For A ‘Verzuz’ Between Dreamville And TDE: ‘It’d Be Good Competition’

Since its emergence last spring, Verzuz has done an excellent job of spotlighting artists from an array of genres and generations. For the most part, the battles that the platform hosted involved solo artists but viewers have watched matchups between groups with the most recent being The Lox against Dipset. Additional examples include SWV vs. Xscape and The Isley Brothers vs. Earth, Wind & Fire.

While fans of Verzuz wait for the platform to announce its next participants, a potential pairing has been thrown into the mix for a future battle, that being Dreamville vs. TDE.

The former features names like J. Cole, Bas, Earthgang, Ari Lennox, JID, Cozz, and more while TDE houses Kendrick Lamar, Isaiah Rashad, SZA, Schoolboy Q, Ab-Soul, Jay Rock, and others. With that being said, the group of artists are responsible for multiple impressive albums over the last decade and in Bas’ eyes, a Verzuz between the two would be great.

The rapper was asked about a potential Dreamville-involved Verzuz during an interview with DJ Charisma on Power 106. “It’s gotta be TDE, right?” Bas replied. “That’s family, but it be good competition, for sure.” While Bas is all for the battle, he made sure to clarify that nothing is set in stone for it yet. “We gotta solidify everything,” he added.

You can listen to Bas’ interview with DJ Charisma on Power 106 above.

Isaiah Rashad is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Van Buren Records Shares “CASH RULES” Posse Cut

Just months after delivering on their critically-received Bad For Press debut album, Van Buren Records has returned to drop off their newest “CASH RULES” track, a hard-hitting posse cut that finds the band of rappers sparring over the AzizTheShake-produced backdrop.

It’s a menacing output that, once again, finds Van Buren putting all ears on high alert. A nod to VB’s consistent trajectory, new priorities are made clear as Luke Bar$ opens affirmatively: “Labels wanna sign me, better bring that Brinks trunk/Or my dawgs shooting like Andrei Kirilenko.”

Bar$ is joined on the track by Saint Lyor, Jiles, FELIX! (fka Lord Felix), Andrew Regis, and Meech BOLD in a thrilling exercise that finds all six emcees in a relay race that firmly places the larger collective of 12 on the map.

Quotable Lyrics

Money-making off an iPad
Couple business deals, we decline that
Trying to own shit on my own shit
Build up a network, on my OWN shit
And you “So Sick” like ’06
At a dead end and you hopeless

Kendrick Nunn Comments On New Role With The Lakers

One of the most active teams throughout the NBA offseason has been the Los Angeles Lakers. Their first move was a massive trade that involved Russell Westbrook in exchange for Kyle Kuzma, Montrezl Harrell, and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. From there, the team signed a plethora of free agents including Dwight Howard, Kent Bazemore, Carmelo Anthony, Malik Monk, and even Kendrick Nunn, among others.

Needless to say, the Lakers were very busy, and the new players coming in are very excited about their new opportunities. For example, in a new story from Matt Peralta of Lakers Nation, Nunn spoke about his new role with the Lakers and just how excited he is to get started.

“It feels good. I feel like I belong honestly,” Nunn said. “I just want to bring my strengths here and fit alongside the guys in the locker room. We all come together as one and get it done. We all come here for one goal. […] It means a lot. I’m honored to be in this position to put on an L.A. Lakers jersey and it’s a powerhouse franchise and it means everything. It means a lot. Putting on and represent this city. Obviously, I’m a kid from Chicago, the south side of Chicago, but I love L.A. and I want to represent them as much [and] as well as I can.”

Nunn was a solid player for the Miami Heat, and if he can come into Los Angeles and inject some youthful exuberance into the roster, than he will certainly be a beloved role player in what should be a very fun season.

LeBron James Teases Fans With Russell Westbrook Workout

Just a few weeks ago, the Los Angeles Lakers completely shook up the NBA as they traded Kyle Kuzma, Montrezl Harrell, and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope to the Washington Wizards in exchange for Russell Westbrook. Everyone knew the Lakers needed a third superstar in order to keep up with the Brooklyn Nets, and that is exactly what they got with Russ.

There are various fans out there who think Russ won’t fit in with the Lakers as their spacing won’t be up to the task. Others are convinced that the Lakers’ big three will play unselfishly and that things will work out just fine. At the end of the day, LeBron and Russ are professionals and they should be able to figure it out.

In fact, the two of them got to work out together recently, and LeBron posted about it all on his Instagram page. As per typical LeBron fashion, he opted to throw some shots at his haters by sarcastically noting how he doesn’t think his partnership with Russ is going to work.

“Work with the Brodie! I agree I don’t think this will work @russwest44,” LeBron said with a smiley face emoji attached.

The two seemed locked in for next season and if these two are able to find chemistry early on, then there is no doubt that the Lakers are going to be a dangerous team from start to finish.

Boldy James Taps Earl Sweatshirt For “Photographic Memories”

The Alchemist, though he has a long history in the hip-hop world, has quickly become one of the most sought after producters in the game over the past few years. This comes after successful collaboration albums with the likes of the Griselda crew as well as Freddie Gibbs. His latest venture comes in the form of the new Boldy James LP Bo Jackson, a dark and eerie collection of somber tracks. “Photographic Memories,” which includes an Earl Sweatshirt feature and a Roc Marciano appearance, establishes itself immediately as a favorite on the album.

The Alchemist takes the cake so quickly on “Photographic Memories” that it seems unfair- the beat is just too good! Though the production is relatively simple, it’s elegant and features a beautiful vocal sample that drives the track. That being said, Boldy James definitely impresses with his verse. He goes in and out of cold flows as he discusses the violence in his earlier years and the “photographic memories” that haunt him.

Earl Sweatshirt does a great job picking up where Boldy leaves off, taking his flow and altering it just slightly to fill up the middle of the song. Earl is all-too-comfortable on an alchemist beat and “Photographic memories” proves so, as the rapper fills his verse with metaphors and poetic language.

Quotable Lyrics:

In any case, if I seem distanced and reserved, then give me space
Heavy pinch of herb send me on my way
Head of the herd, making’ sure everyone got a plate
Left here disturbed with the look on my face

Justin Fields Shines In Preseason Debut & Earns Praise From LeBron James

Bears’ rookie quarterback Justin Fields put on a show in his preseason debut during Chicago’s matchup with the Miami Dolphins. The 11th pick in the 2021 NFL Draft caught the attention of LeBron James with his first game on his new team.

After a slow start for Fields, which included a fumble, he finished mistake-free for a total of 142 yards and one touchdown in the air, as well as 33 yards and one touchdown on the ground. The young quarterback connected on 14 of 20 passing attempts.

James praised the performance on Twitter while Field was still tossing passes.

“Justin Fields is so SPECIAL man!! Keep going Young [King],” he wrote.

Immediately after, Fields threw a perfect touchdown pass to Jesse James from over 30 yards: “Sent that right before he just threw a TD off the Play Action to Jesse James.”

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler recently said that the Bears coaching staff are confident in Fields’ command of the offense.

“I’m told the Bears feel that Fields’ command of the offense is improving every single day,” he reported on SportsCenter. “They know he can make the athletic play, the spectacular play. They want to see tonight, him mastering the nuances of their offense.”

VanJess Recruits Lucky Daye On “Slow Down” Remix

Nearly a year after the track first appeared, sister duo VanJess have tapped labelmate Lucky Daye to deliver on the remix to their “Slow Down” offering.

The sultry track once more sits over the Lafayette Afro Rock Band sample as the Keep Cool signees complement each other in the best of ways. The original cut was housed on the duo’s Homegrown EP. The full project arrived in February of this year with features from the likes of Phony Ppl, Garren, Jimi Tents, and Devin Morrison.

It’s the latest appearance from Daye, who has been lending vocals to a handful of his contemporaries lately after tending to fans with his Table For Two album of duets, also released in February.

Quotable Lyrics

Got me takin’ my time, pressin’ rewind
Just to make the moment longer (Oh, oh)
Can you slow down the time?
Like from nine to nine, love how you’ve been makin’ me stronger
