BET Responds To Lil Nas X Diss After Snubbing Him At Awards Show

Award shows are notorious for snubbing artists. Every year it seems as if a voting academy never gets it totally right when deciding who should be nominated for an award. The BET Awards caused some controversy a last when they announced their nominees and despite having a hell of a year, Lil Nas X was not nominated, even though his “INDUSTRY BABY” collaborator, Jack Harlow was nominated for best male rapper even though he is not Black.

Lil Nas X went on to bash the awards show in an unreleased track with NBA Youngboy named “Late to da Party” that he previewed yesterday, June 7. In the track, Lil Nas X raps, “F*ck BET, f*ck BET/Lick it on up, slurp it/ Make it sloppy, ok, ok, ok, ok/ Look at how I top sh*t/I just put like three up in the top 10/And I don’t need nobody/I just need these ccs on my body/Everything I do be tryna run, go make a profit/Read about it.”

After posting the clip, Lil Nas X made it known that his issue with BET was not over being snubbed, but the bigger problem is homophobia in the Black community. “This not over no BET award,” he Tweeted. “This is about the bigger problem of homophobia in the black community. Y’all can sit and pretend all u want but imma risk it all for us.”

Following the diss, BET issued a response to Lil Nas X. They first posted a video of Lil Nas X to their Instagram page with the caption “This is bigger than the #BETAwards. This is real life and we will always rock with Lil’ Nas X and stand for our people.”

A statement was later released, reiterating their support for Lil Nas X.

“We love Lil Nas X. He was nominated for a best new artist BET Award in 2020, and we proudly showcased his extraordinary talent and creativity on the show twice: He performed ‘Old Town Road’ with Billy Ray Cyrus at BET Awards 2019 and his BET Awards 2021 performance was a highlight of our show. No one cheered louder that night than BET.”

The statement continued, “Unfortunately, this year, he was not nominated by BET’s voting academy, which is comprised of an esteemed group of nearly 500 entertainment professionals in the fields of music, television, film, digital marketing, sports journalism, public relations, influencers, and creative arts. No one from BET serves as a member of the voting academy.”

“At BET, we are passionate advocates for the wonderful diversity that exists within our community. We are committed to using all of our platforms to provide visibility and inclusion for all of the many intersections of the Black community.”

Lil Baby Says Young Thug Is in “Great Spirits”

Lil Baby Is Back In The Studio Working On New Music

The legend of Lil Baby began well before he picked up a microphone. The back story behind the Atlanta rap megastar was that he has always been a real one. He had a reputation for being a hustler and a solid person. Now since his friend Young Thug went to jail and is fighting a case of high magnitude, he’s still answering his phone.

Lil Baby took it to Twitter to provide fans with an update on how Young Thug has been doing behind bars. In a tweet, the 4PF CEO said, “I talked to Young Thug, He in great spirits.”

If you’re not familiar with Lil Baby’s journey in Hip-Hop, it all started with Young Thug paying him to rap. In an interview with XXL, the “Southside” rapper said, “Young Thug, he gave me all the jewels, and he literally paid me to leave the neighborhood. [He said], ‘Bruh you can rap, you got it. You could be next. You gotta leave the ‘hood… I’m a pay you to come to the studio.”

Currently, Thugger is locked up in Cobb County Jail, fighting a RICO case with the 27 other YSL members.

Rolling Stone’s Top 200 List Of Greatest Hip-Hop Albums Cause Confusion

Classic Albums in Australia Still Selling

On June 7, Rolling Stone released its ranking of the 200 Greatest Hip Hop Albums of All Time and many fans oppose the list.

Since Hip-Hop is such a broad genre, the popular entertainment news publication limited the list to English language hip-hop only. They also said in cases of repeated albums from legendary catalogs such as OutKast or A Tribe Called Quest, we tended to go with the latter option.

Although many fans disagree with the order and the selections of the albums, Rolling Stone did attempt to cover the entire evolution of the hip-hop genre. The committee selected projects from the early stages of rap such as albums from Public Enemy, De La Soul, Eric B. and Rakim. It also captures records from the ’90s and ‘2000s with acts like Tupac, Biggie, Jay-Z, Nas, Lil Wayne, and Kanye West. The list also mentions tons of new era acts Drake, Kendrick Lamar, Polo G, Travis Scott, Mac Miller, and more.

1. The Notorious B.I.G. – ‘Ready to Die’ (1994)

Entries that sparked debate is Travis Scott’s Astroworld coming at No.200.

Fans were happy with the Mac Miller selection they picked.

And as great as Cardi B is fans do not think Invasion of Privacy is better than Nas’ Illmatic or Jay-Z’s Reasonable Doubt or Tupac’s All Eyez On Me.

Another fan expressed frustration about the order of Chance The Rapper’s Acid Rap, ranked No. 36. Seeing that it’s above Dr. Dre’s The Chronic. They even begged Rolling Stone to leave the genre alone.

Kanye Reportedly “Taking a Year Off” According to ‘Donda’ Collaborator and Artist Vory

Kanye West

Kanye has maintained a pretty low profile ever since being banned from Instagram for harassing Kim Kardashian and her new boyfriend, Pete Davidson. His performance at the Grammys was canceled over his remarks about Trevor Noah. In April, there were reports of Ye telling Kim that he was going away somewhere to “get better.” However, these claims were quickly shot down by his new publicist Jason Lee.

Now, close collaborator and artist, Vory, recently shared with Complex that Ye is taking a year off from music and his public life.

“The person who made me realize my twisted thoughts weren’t so twisted was Ye, because we think alike. I was just talking to him today,” Vory said. “We’ve been talking through my best friend who’s also his assistant, because he hasn’t been wanting to talk to anybody. He’s taking a year off, and he was like, ‘Damn, you think Vory is going to be mad at me if I don’t go to his release party?’ And I was like, ‘Nah, you’re straight, bro.’ He’s battling his own sh*t. That’s my dog, I learned a lot from him.”

Ye, along with Kendrick Lamar and Future, is set to headline at Rolling Loud Miami next month. However, this update from Vory makes his appearance very questionable.

The Game Says Ye “Would Joke About” His Past History With Kim Kardashian

Fans' Ears Perk as Kanye West, The Game Tackle an Eazy-E Sample

The Game recently opened up about his relationship with Kanye. The two have known each other for most of their careers and have even collaborated on songs like the Ye produced “Dreams” off of The Documentary, “Wouldn’t Get Far,” and recently “Eazy.”

In the past, The Game has been vocal about the women he has dated and slept with throughout his career, one of them being Kim Kardashian. He even rapped about it in a song he previewed in 2019, where he rapped about having sex with Kim years before she was with Kanye and how he would make Kylie Jenner Frosted Flakes the morning after.

“I held Kim Kardashian by the throat, n*gga I made her swallow my kids until she choked, n*gga. I should apologize cause Ye my folks, n*gga,” The Game rapped.

With The Game and Kim Kardashian’s history, and the bar above, you would have thought that Ye and Game wouldn’t be as cool as they are today. But, in fact, Ye has no problem with them having history, and according to The Game, Ye would joke about his prior history with Kim.

In a new interview with Complex, Speedy Morgan asked Game about speaking with Kanye about his history with Kim. The Game replied, saying, “Even Ye would joke about it. I sit with Ye, and he’s like, ‘oh sh*t. Well damn, you f*cked with Kim first,’ and I’ll be like, ‘n*gga we in a room for of people.’”

When asked if it was awkward for him when that happened, the Game said that it initially was, but now he and Ye are cool and honest about it. “The first time, the first two times, it was kind of awkward, Now it’s just like Ye being honest and it’s all good.”

Game went on to talk about how there is a huge chance that a girl you used to date, talk to, or sleep with might end up with one of your friends.

“Everybody that you date, if you go outside and meet a girl today, she has a history. She dated somebody. If I seen you with a girl I used to date, the next time I see you, I be like, ‘Yo, Speedy, she like it from the side.’ You feel me? I want to make sure it’s good, that you last in there, you know what I’m sayin’?”
