Flavor Flav, Patron Saint Of Team USA, Vows To Make Jordan Chiles A Bronze Clock Necklace After She Was Stripped Of Her Medal

Two of the biggest stars of the 2024 Olympics were not athletes, but hip-hop legends. Snoop Dogg was everywhere in Paris, carrying the torch, watching dressage with Martha Stewart, cheering on Noah Lyles with his mom, touring the Louvre, doing dozens of appearances on NBC, and popping up at seemingly every event.

While Snoop’s presence came as little surprise given his work with NBC during the Tokyo Olympics, doing a highlights show with Kevin Hart, and his upcoming stint as a judge on The Voice, the other hip-hop legend that took over the games was far more surprising. Flavor Flav was also a constant presence at the Olympics, but he was there primarily to support the USA women’s water polo team, who he has helped sponsor to fund the players and keep them from having to work multiple jobs while also playing for the national team. That story became a viral sensation, and Flav didn’t stop there. He helped pay a track and field athlete’s rent after she tweeted about struggling with her bills while competing in Paris, and was a fixture at Team USA events throughout the Olympics.

His latest venture to help out a USA Olympian is to provide some consolation for gymnast Jordan Chiles, after she got told to return her bronze medal from the individual floor exercise event. The gymnastics governing body decided the protest filed by her coach that upped her score and pushed her into third place came too late, and instead the bronze should go to Romanian gymnast Ana Barbosu. That caused considerable uproar stateside, and despite an appeal by USA Gymnastics, the ruling was upheld.

That is where Flavor Flav stepped in and offered on Twitter to make Chiles a custom bronze clock necklace to replace her gold medal, giving her something truly one-of-a-kind.

It has been cool seeing Flav become the patron saint of Team USA, providing help supporting the athletes however possible and in the most Flavor Flav way possible, from paying their rent to sending them a bronze clock.

Simone Biles Wins Historic Sixth Olympic Gold Medal In Women’s All-Around Final

Today, Simone Biles made history, winning her sixth Olympic gold medal in the gymnastics all-around final. She’s now the first American gymnast to do so. She narrowly defeated Rebeca Andrade of Brazil, who finished silver, and her teammate Suni Lee who finished bronze. The 27-year-old is now the oldest Olympics all-around champion since Maria Gorokhovskaya, who secured the title in 1952. Biles is also the third woman in history to win multiple gold medals in the all-around.

Following a mistake on uneven bars, she put on impressive balance beam and floor performances. While this put her above both Lee and Andrade, Biles admits that the mishap shook her confidence. According to her, she was “praying to every single God out there trying to refocus and recenter myself because that’s not the bars that I had been training.”

Simone Biles Celebrates Her Win

“I’m not the best bar swinger like Suni or Kaylia, but I can still swing some bars,” Biles also added. “I don’t want to compete with Rebeca no more. I’m tired. Like, she’s way too close. I’ve never had an athlete that close.” She celebrated the exciting win by debuting a silver goat necklace, symbolizing her undeniable GOAT status.

“My GOAT necklace is just kind of an ode, because the people love it and some people hate it,” she explained. “So, it’s like the best of both worlds. I was like, ‘OK, if it goes well, we’ll wear the GOAT necklace.’ I know people will go crazy over it but at the end of the day it is crazy that I am in the conversation of ‘Greatest of all athletes’ because I just still think, ‘I’m Simone Biles from Spring, Texas who loves to flip.’” What do you think of Simone Biles making history with her latest win? Megan Thee Stallion Celebrated Simone Biles’ Latest Gold Medal By Sharing A Video Of Biles Dancing To ‘Where Them Girls At’

Simone Biles posted a video of herself dancing to Megan Thee Stallion’s “Where Them Girls At” ahead of her Olympics performance, and Megan herself was all too happy to reshare the video after the US Olympic Gymnastics Team took home the gold medal — bringing Biles’ total to 38. In the video, Biles shows off her nails (“check”), hair (“check”), and makeup (“face pretty”) along with her star-spangled leotard. Megan, in reposting the video on Twitter (never going to call it “X”), added a trio of heart-eye emojis.

In addition to shooting a commercial with a horse to promote NBC’s Olympics coverage, Meg’s also showed off her patriotism by announcing that she’ll be performing at Kamala Harris’ upcoming campaign rally in Atlanta. With plans to “stream Harris’ speech on Facebook, YouTube and the FOX Local App” according to Fox 5 Atlanta, that could mean a chance for those of us not in The Big Peach to follow along.

“Where Them Girls At” is the fourth song from Meg’s new album, Megan, which dropped a little over a month ago on June 30 via Megan’s own independent imprint Hot Girl Productions with distribution through Warner. The song is hugely popular on TikTok, for exactly the reason that Biles used it in her video, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see her win spark a resurgence. You can hear it in full below.

Simone Biles Poses For “Vanity Fair,” Talks Husband Jonathan Owens & Mental Health

She may be hailed as the greatest gymnast of all time, but it isn’t Simone Biles’s 37 Olympic and World Championship medals that have captivated pop culture in recent weeks. After Simone’s NFL star husband, Jonathan Owens, commented on their relationship, the pair were thrust into viral infamy. However, Biles’s accolades overshadow any naysayers in comment sections.

This week, Simone Biles continued her global takeover with yet another magazine cover, this time for Vanity Fair‘s February 2024 issue. Inside, the 26-year-old gymnastics icon got candid about her marriage, admitting that it was Owens’s confidence first attracted her. Elsewhere, Biles discussed her involvement with charitable organizations centered on foster children. As a child, her mother struggled with addiction, and Simone often found herself in and out of the system. She cares deeply for children in foster care and makes it her mission to provide resources to those in need.

Read through a few highlights from the Ohio native’s fashion feature below, along with hot shots from her photo spread.

On Her Husband, Jonathan Owens

“If I’m going to be honest, obviously he’s very fine. [But] besides his looks, he was so sweet and kind, and I think what I liked about him was his confidence. He truly believes he’s the best at everything.” Biles and Owens were married in April 2023 in a small ceremony. “We could have had so many more people, but we really wanted to make it as intimate and as special as possible.”

“I was like, ‘Not to knock your football coach from third grade, but baby, when was the last time you talked to him?’” … “I’ve never had so much fun in my life. I was 19 when I won my first Olympics, and I was like, How am I supposed to top this? My wedding topped it. It was the greatest feeling ever.”

However, the bliss was brief, because soon, Owens joined the Green Bay Packers. This meant their first year of marriage would be long distance. “I cried a lot. We’re both so busy, so it’s not like I’m sitting [around] waiting for him to come home, but it’s just hard.” Even so, Biles is happy to support her husband. “We love being with the Packers organization [and] Lambeau. The fans are…I wouldn’t even call them crazy; they’re dedicated. They love their players as if those are their children.”

Jonathan On First Meeting Simone Biles On The Raya Dating App

“She doesn’t like to admit it, but she messaged me first.” … “I just noticed her laugh. It was just contagious. We could talk all day and we’d stayed up late, and there just wasn’t an awkward moment.” … “A lot of people don’t believe me when I say I had no clue [who she was].” … “I never once was like, Oh, let me check gymnastics out.” After looking at her Instagram, “I was like, man, she got a lot of followers, she must be pretty good.”

Simone On Mental Health & Foster Advocacy

“I’ve always been in therapy [and] I’ve always been an advocate for medicine.” … “If you need an inhaler, take it. If you have anxiety, take it. I’m no stranger to medicine.” Further, she added about her work with the Friends of the Children non-profit, “I’ll always advocate for foster kids. I was a foster kid and something very out of the ordinary happened to me. We’re opening a chapter in Houston,” she says of the organization. “I think the kids deserve that.”

Simone Biles Wins Three Golds In Dominant Return To Gymnastics

Simone Biles has returned to competitive gymnastics in style. In June, Biles announced that she would be competing at the U.S Classic, also known as the Core Hydration Classic, in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. It marked the first time Biles had competed since taking a bronze medal in the beam event at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. Earlier in that tournament, Biles had withdrawn from the Team All-Around after suffering from the “Twisties”. After the tournament, Biles announced she would be taking an extended hiatus from competition.

Biles chose not to speak with the media on the August 4 training day but waved at fans and appeared in good spirits as she joked with teammates. The US Classic serves as the final qualifier for the US Gymnastics Championships that are due to be held later this month in San Jose. It is believed that Biles’ ultimate goal is to rejoin the US Olympic Team. This would see Biles head to the 2024 Olympics. The games are are set to take place less than a year from today in Paris, France. Despite being away from the sport for two years, Biles wasted no time in dominating the competition.

Biles came away from the event with four medals – three gold and one bronze. Throughout proceedings on August 5, Biles showed just how little her time away from the sport had affected her. She won the All-Around gold by 5 points, a wild result in a sport measured in tenths of a point. Elsewhere, she picked up golds in the beam and floor events as well, while taking bronze in the uneven bars. Biles will now shift her attention to the aforementioned US Championships later this month. Furthermore, she will likely look to compete athe World Championships in Belgium at the end of September.

However, Biles didn’t win everything during the event. Biles will come away from the event $200 poorer after losing a bet to Zoe Miller, the uneven bars champion. The 17-year-old, who is set to join the prestigious LSU gymnastics team when she heads to college, twerked for the audience after completing her gold medal uneven bars routine. It appears that Biles had bet Miller on whether she would do the dance after her routine. I just lost $200 to @_.zoemiller for doing that dance celebration,” Biles posted to her Instagram. “OMG OKAY GIRL,” the caption continued.

Simone Biles Has Glorious Return To Competitive Gymnastics

On August 3, 2021, Simone Biles took bronze in the balance beam discipline at the Tokyo Olympics. A week earlier, Biles had suddenly withdrawn from the Team All-Around after suffering from a condition that gymnasts refer to as “the Twisties”. After still earning her medal in the beam event, Biles announced she would be taking a hiatus from competitive gymnastics. “I say put mental health first. Because if you don’t, then you’re not going to enjoy your sport and you’re not going to succeed as much as you want to. So it’s OK sometimes to even sit out the big competitions to focus on yourself, because it shows how strong of a competitor and person that you really are — rather than just battle through it,” Biles said of her decision.

A little over two years later and the face of US gymnastics is back. On August 4, 2023, she took part in the Core Hydration Classic just outside of Chicago. Everyone knew it was going to be a special event as Biles hit her signature Biles I floor move during the day’s training ahead of the actual meet on August 5. After solid rotations on the uneven bars and beam, she absolutely slayed on the vault. She hit three separate attempts at the Yurchenko double pike – a move only Biles has ever managed to land in competition.

Biles Prepares For First Meet In Two Years

“That was the first time she is doing it since podium training at the Olympic Games, on the hard landing,” coach Laurent Landi said of the skill after training. “Today’s been good. We wouldn’t be here if we had seen any hesitation,” Cecile Landi said when asked if Biles was still having issues with specific skills or hesitating on any twisting elements. “It’s her will to be here and as long as she tells us she’s good to go, we will continue. I had dinner with her and she told me she really wanted to give herself a chance to do it,” Landi said. “After her wedding, after everything was over, we saw a shift in her training and commitment to being back. She really wants it for herself. She’s a married woman. She’s mature. We are here to support her.”

Biles chose not to speak with the media on August 4 but waved at fans and appeared in good spirits as she joked with teammates. The meet also serves as the final qualifier for the US Gymnastics Championships that are due to be held later this month in San Jose. It is believed that Biles’ ultimate is to rejoin the US Olympic Team in time for the 2024 Olympics that are set to take place less than a year from today in Paris, France.
