Big Scarr Delivers First Posthumous Album “The Secret Weapon”

Big Scarr’s Posthumous album The Secret Weapon has dropped today. 1017 Records released the 17-track work nearly two months after Big Scarr’s tragic death. The Secret Weapon features Gucci Mane, Key Glock, Pooh Shiesty, Enchanting, and Seddy Hendrinx. As a whole, the southern hip-hop artist left behind a worthy drop of hard-hitting trap tunes that reflects on his life both in and out of the streets.

With punch, flow, and style, Big Scarr exemplified his versatile rap capabilities throughout The Secret Weapon. His smooth and deep voice takes the spotlight in songs like “Straight Like That” and “I’m Him,” with emphasis on his effortless bars. From one song to the other, the track list flows seamlessly, amounting to a soundtrack of Big Scarr’s life. In “Try Being Me,” the late-rapper leaves a haunting message: “no, they ain’t stoppin’ my legacy.”

Big Scarr Leaves Behind His Legacy

Just in December, Big Scarr was found dead after an allegedly accidental overdose of prescription pills. 1017 Founder Gucci took to Instagram this week to announce that Big Scarr’s last work would be released. Gucci also leaves a message for Big Scarr’s remembrance in their track, “Trappin n Rappin.” He starts the track off with “long live the legend, my secret weapon, Big Scarr.” Gucci first signed big Scarr in 2020, and the duo exclusively worked together throughout the Tennessee-born rapper’s short-lived career. Work on the album had commenced prior to the rapper’s unfortunate demise. The Secret Weapon is available to stream on all platforms, so be sure to check it out!

Gucci Mane Announces Posthumous Big Scarr Album

Nearly two months after the death of rapper Big Scarr, Gucci Mane has announced the upcoming release of his Posthumous album. Gucci’s label 1017 Records will be dropping The Secret Weapon on February 17th. The late rapper died on December 22nd, 2022 after ingesting a lethal dose of prescription pills. He had worked with 1017 Records on his The Secret Weapon album prior to his demise. According to HipHopDX, the album will be featuring rappers including Gucci, Key Glock, Pooh Shiesty, Enchanting, and Seddy Hendrinx.

Gucci took to his Instagram to announce the album with a teaser of the 15-song track list. The Secret Weapon would have been Big Scarr’s 7th studio album collaboration with 1017. The Tennessee-born rapper signed with Gucci’s label in 2020. In the caption for Gucci’s album announcement, the record executive wrote, “my secret weapon Big Scarr album drops this Friday! I hate that he’s not here to celebrate this great body of work that he worked so hard on! #TheSecretWeapon album drops this Friday 2/17 midnight on all platforms.”

Gucci To Drop The Secret Weapon On 2/17

The My Secret Weapon album follows Gucci’s intense disagreements with Big Scarr’s family. The feud began with his contribution to the funeral costs, which family members claimed to be insufficient. While Gucci’s wife Keyshia Ka’Oir released receipts revealing Gucci’s $20k contribution to N.J. Ford & Sons Funeral Home, Big Scarr’s sister Alexandra Woods was still not happy.

Woods took to Instagram live to explain. “That 10K ain’t help with nothing but obituaries and flowers, boo,” she said. “My brother worth more than 10K,” she said. “Yea, Gucci sent $10,000 and somebody else on another team. So, it was $20,000 in all. And we ain’t get the flowers. I don’t give a fuck what nobody say.” She goes on to reveal that the $20k barely made a dent in the total bill of $60k. But, Woods also received her own version of backlash, along with the family, after Big Scarr’s former girlfriend stepped in. She shamed the family for making a music video at his funeral and for wearing his jewelry. The woman referred to the whole spectacle as “disgusting.”Big Scarr’s posthumous album The Secret Weapon will be available to stream on all platforms 2/17 at midnight.

Gucci Mane Announces Big Scarr Album Dropping Friday: ‘I Hate That He’s Not Here To Celebrate This Great Body’

Gucci Mane is Name in Wrongful Death Lawsuit for South Carolina Club Shooting

Gucci Mane has announced a posthumous Big Scarr album, The Secret Weapon. The album arrives after Gucci and Scarr’s family engaged in a war of words online.

Big Scarr’s death and funeral have had a fair share of controversies. Following arguments over Gucci Mane supporting his artist’s family monetarily, the funeral occurred, which was also the location of a music video.

Seeing the scenes unfold and the events before the funeral, Scarr’s girlfriend hit Instagram and wrote a note about how she felt regarding everything.

“Y’all really FAILED Alex as a family & friends. Y’all aired ALL his personal business out, from the preparation to the funeral till afterwards. WTF happened to privacy?? Flexing in his jewelry like it’s yours.

PUT HIS SHIT UP! He not here to put it on you so don’t wear his shit. EMBARRASSING as hell. It’s only one BIG SCARR he can never be duplicated! Can’t even grieve in peace! Too much clout chasing going on! Shit disgusting!”

Alexander “Big Scarr” Woods, a signee of 1017, died from an unintentional prescription drug overdose in his hometown of Memphis, Tennessee, three days before Christmas 2022. He was just 22 years old.

Nearly a month after Scarr passed away, his family and longtime partner Quezz Ruthless said that Gucci had refused to cover the cost of the artist’s funeral. Keyshia Ka’Oir, Gucci’s wife, responded to the family and provided them with receipts to support her claims that Gucci had paid for the funeral home and even sent flowers, but that the family had not expressed gratitude or appreciation.

In a video, Quezz stated, “You say to them you finna pay for the funeral, then you lie. You didn’t have to lie! You ain’t have to go ghost either, cuh. It was gonna get paid for either way. You could’ve just said you ain’t have the money. You don’t get no type of respect for that, cuh. When they texted you and asked you about Scarr’s funeral, cuh, you told them folks that Keyshia’s birthday coming up. Man, y’all rich! Y’all can celebrate her birthday any day. Come on now, cuh.”

Gucci Mane Announces Big Scarr’s Posthumous Album

Big Scarr was a star pupil on Gucci Mane’s 1017 imprint. In the past few years of Gucci restructuring his label, he found plenty of talent across the south. Big Scarr, for example, was on pace to become the next star to emerge from the roster. Unfortunately, the rapper passed away just before Christmas. Fans across the world mourned his loss, especially as a young, underground figure with the potential to do major things and emerge as Gucci Mane’s next protegé.

Scarr’s death, unfortunately, led to a plethora of criticism online. People like Joe Budden expressed concern surrounding those who sign to 1017 due to the number of artists who’ve died or gone to prison. Then, there was a significant amount of drama from Big Scarr’s family, who accused Gucci Mane of stiffing them on funds for the funeral. Scarr’s sister said Gucci didn’t do enough when he offered $10K for the funeral and provided flowers. However, Scarr’s father expressed gratitude for Gucci’s efforts to provide his son with an opportunity.
