Wendy Williams’ Guardian Accused Of Mishandling $400K For Controversial Documentary

Wendy Williams’ court-appointed legal guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, is reportedly in a legal battle with the production companies behind the Where Is Wendy Williams? documentary, according to a Tuesday (November 26) report from The Sun. For those unaware, the TV host was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia and aphasia in May of 2023, about a year after a guardianship started to manage her health and finances. While the February 2024 documentary – which Lifetime, A&E, and others produced – intended to portray a comeback through a podcast, it revealed a lot of controversies around her mental state and who was really looking out for her.

Furthermore, Sabrina Morrissey sued Lifetime, A&E Television Networks, Entertainment One, and Creature Films for this “blatant exploitation” of Wendy Williams’ struggles, per court documents reportedly obtained by The Hollywood Reporter. Morrissey’s legal team alleged that Williams’ “permanent incapacitation” means that she could not consent to the series. In addition, they accused producers of tricking her into thinking this would be a celebratory and flattering depiction. “She thought we were focusing on the comeback of her career,” Williams’ longtime publicist Shawn Zanotti told NBC News. “Wendy would be mortified if she saw how she was portrayed.”

However, the defendants accused Wendy Williams’ legal guardian of lying about some facts and misusing the money they paid Williams for her participation in the documentary. Per The U.S. Sun‘s report, the networks claim Sabrina Morrissey attempts to eliminate critical views of her “controversial and failed administration.” As for why, they alleged that Morrissey feels embarrassed by what the documentary says about her guardianship. In addition, the networks defended their “honest and unfiltered window” into her life and said that they paid her team much more than what Morrissey claimed.

Not only that, but the networks also pointed to Wendy Williams’ family, indicating that they approved the documentary and also participated in promo interviews for it. An appellate judge denied Sabrina Morrissey the chance to block the doc’s release, and the defendants accused her of focusing on her own reputation. Both sides seek damages and attorney’s fees. At the moment, no one knows how this legal dispute could resolve, or what it would cost Wendy.

Tristan Thompson Now Brother Amari’s Temporary Guardian Following Mother’s Passing

Earlier this year, Tristan Thompson’s mother Andrea passed away unexpectedly at the age of 53 after having a heart attack. The basketball player had a tough time coping with the tragic loss. This was documented on the past season of The Kardashians. Amid his grieving process, he stayed with ex Khloe Kardashian, and received support from the reality star and her family. Tristan’s 17-year-old brother Amari, who suffers from epilepsy, also moved in with them.

Amari’s disability makes him unable to care for himself, so his mother had been his primary caretaker before she passed away. Once she died, the question was raised as to who would care for Amari. Tristan filed a legal request to become his little brother’s legal guardian earlier this month, meaning he’d be responsible for his day-to-day needs. In addition to ensuring that all of Amari’s medical requirements are met, he’d also oversee the inheritance he received from his late mother, which is over $100K. His inheritance is not yet available for disbursement.

Now, Tristan has been granted temporary guardianship of Amari. A hearing for permanent guardianship has also been scheduled for November of this year. Though fans are glad that Amari will be well taken care of, some are concerned about Tristan’s NBA career. Others are wondering where Tristan and Amari’s other brother, Dishawn, is in all of this. Dishawn shared a post shortly after an episode of The Kardashians aired earlier this summer, which showcased the fallout of Andrea’s passing. “Death for a storyline 🤔” he wrote. Some social media users suspected that he was throwing jabs at Khloe.

He later addressed the accusations, claiming that the message wasn’t intended for Khloe. He additionally claimed she’s “been a real one” towards him and his brothers from the beginning. What do you think of Tristan Thompson becoming his brother Amari’s temporary guardian? Tristan Thompson Seeks To Become Guardian Of Brother Amari

Tristan Thompson has filed a legal request to become the guardian of his 17-year-old brother, Amari. The move comes after their mother, Andrea, died suddenly in January. Thompson has informally cared for his brother even since, even briefly living with him in the home of Khloé Kardashian. Amari is unable to care for himself due to several severe medical conditions. Furthermore, Tristan would also safeguard the $103,000 inheritance that Amari received from their mother.

Thompson’s responsibilities would involve general day-to-day care of his brother, including attending to his medical needs. This means that Thompson’s NBA career is all but over as he officially pivots towards full-time care work. While Thompson was at the tail-end of his career anyway, he did join the Lakers for their 2023 playoff run. The timeline of formalizing Thompson as Amari’s guardian is unclear.

Role Of Dishawn Thompson Unclear

Thompson lists himself as the closest relative to Amari able to care for him. This has led to some fans questioning the role of Dishawn Thompson. Dishawn gained some notoriety during the death of their mother as he appeared to take shots at Khloé Kardashian. After Khloé revealed that she had let Tristan and Amari stay with her, Dishawn to took social media. “Death for a storyline 🤔” and “Don’t believe everything you see or hear on social media. 95% is a lie,” all appeared on the 28-year-old’s Instagram story after the episode aired. People immediately took this as a jab at Kardashian for exploiting their mother’s death. After this supposed beef emerged, Dishawn has taken to Instagram to clarify his comments.

“Y’all chill out that wasn’t towards Khloe or her family,” Dishawn began his response. “Khloe has been a real one toward myself and my bros from day1. I wouldn’t try to bash a female down ever and especially on social media. Please don’t speak for me #BigCoach.” If one had to guess, it’s likely that Dishawn was actually defending Kardashian in response to the social media speculation. His comments were like a reaction to what other people were saying about Kardashian after the storyline was made public in the episode.
