LL Cool J is a hip-hop legend who has been giving a lot of amazing artists their flowers as of late. One of those artists is none other than Joe Budden. While the kids might know him more as a podcaster, the OG fans know that he was incredible on the mic. Overall, Budden was a proficient MC who didn’t get the mainstream attention he deserved. However, he did have one huge hit, which was the 2003 banger “Pump It Up.” Shockingly, it was revealed that it only went Gold in 2024.

Upon learning this information, LL Cool J got Joe Budden a gold plaque and gifted it to him on his podcast. This subsequently led to a whole bunch of discourse surrounding Budden’s career. It also spawned more between the likes of Budden and Yung Miami. Having said that, LL Cool J was recently spotted by TMZ, where they asked him what he thought about the Budden discourse. That is when he made the astute point that most artists never go gold and that any accomplishment is one worth celebrating.

Plenty of fans agreed with the artist and his take. “Joe came from the era where you had to actually sell CDs. Gold records weren’t easy to come by in a era of Hov, DMX, Ja Rule, Eminem, Nelly, etc. The kids weren’t around then,” one person wrote. “An accomplishment is an accomplishment. You don’t have to like Joe but the man is talented,” said another.

Jay-Z is easily one of the biggest rappers of all-time. Furthermore, he is the greatest hip-hop artist ever, in the minds of many. He has quite a few classic projects at this point. His last album, 4:44, was a modern classic that a lot of people feel very strongly about. At this point, Jay continues to grow as an artist, and it has been pretty amazing to watch. Consequently, fans are hoping for a new album, sometime soon. However, that has yet to happen and we continue to wait patiently.

On Monday, the legend celebrated his 54th birthday. Now that he is in his mid-50s, it is clear that his priorities have changed. What once used to matter to him doesn’t seem so significant anymore. One of those lesser priorities for him is likely to be the numbers game. Album sales can be a young person’s game a lot of the time. For older artists, there are other barometers of success. However, Jay continues to sell millions of records, regardless. As Roc Nation revealed, Jay picked up 19 new RIAA certifications on his birthday.

Jay-Z Gets New Certifications

These certifications include platinum and gold plaques for some of Jay’s most iconic tracks. In the platinum category, songs like “’03 Bonnie & Clyde,” “Big Pimpin’,” “On To The Next One,” and even “Holy Grail” made the list. As for gold songs, you have tracks such as “Girls, Girls, Girls,” “Lucifer,” and even “Heart Of The City.” Needless to say, the man is still wildly successful and that will never change. His music is timeless, and we cannot wait to see what he may do in the near future.

Ice Spice Poses With Gold Plaque For “Munch”

Ice Spice recently posed for a photo with her gold plaque for her breakout single, “Munch (Feelin’ U),” signifying the sale of over 500,000 certified units from the RIAA. The Bronx rapper released the song back on August 10, 2022. Its success helped propel her to become one of the biggest rising stars in hip-hop.

Ice Spice posted the picture with the plaque on Instagram, early Monday, alongside several other photos of herself rocking a cropped Supreme shirt and mini skirt. She didn’t add a caption to the post.

Ice Spice Performs With Taylor Swift

You earned this!!!” Another joked: “you couldn’t waterboard me outta that room.” One commenter also noted that many fans have been theorizing that Cardi B recently dissed Spice during her set at Hot 97 Summer Jam. “They saying Cardi shading you sista idk if u umm saw!” one user noted.

Despite the rumors, Cardi clarified that she wasn’t intending to diss Ice Spice during a live stream on Instagram. “For y’all motherfuckers that’s on Twitter tryna be messy, please, cut the bullshit,” she said. “I don’t — that’s not me, like come on now. First of all, y’all been wanting me to be messy all things. Y’all wanted me to be messy on the song, y’all wanted me to — nah, come on now. Cut the bullshit, please. Get the mop. Y’all being too messy and y’all being annoying.”

Ice Spice With Her Gold Plaque

Following the release of “Munch (Feeling U),” Ice Spice dropped several more hit singles in recent months. Her tracks “Boy’s a Liar Pt. 2” with PinkPantheress and “Princess Diana” with Nicki Minaj have both charted within the top five of the Hot 100. She also recently teamed up with Taylor Swift for a remix of “Karma.”
