Chloe Bailey Fires Back At People Accusing Her Of ‘Shooting My Shot’ With ‘Married Man’ Kendrick Lamar

Like everyone else, Chloe Bailey is enjoying Kendrick Lamar‘s new album, GNX.

“Who has listened to Kendrick’s album?” she asked her fans on a recent Instagram livestream. “I have had it on repeat [since] it’s been out.” After making it clear that she “did not just hop on the Kendrick train now,” the “Have Mercy” singer shared that about eight years ago, she had “a whole Kendrick phase. Like, I’ve had phases, right? Like, I had a James Fauntleroy phase. I had a Frank Ocean phase. I had a [FKA] Twigs phase. I had a Tune-Yards phase. I had a Kendrick Lamar phase, and I was convinced I was going to be with him.”

Bailey was clearly expressing how much she respects Lamar as an artist, and that she had an innocent crush on him when she was younger. But some internet weirdos misinterpreted her comments and accused her of flirting with a married man, to the point where she did another livestream to defend herself.

“I’m not shooting my shot at a married man. I was talking about years and years ago. I was just sharing how I was a die-hard Kendrick fan, like from day one,” she said. “Everybody just doesn’t… Like happiness, everybody has to take everything so seriously. I would never. Honestly, I don’t let stuff like that get to me anymore, I think it’s funny now how people will take things out of context… I am innocent.”

DJ Akademiks Blames Drake For Boosting Kendrick Lamar’s “GNX” Sales

Earlier this month, Kendrick Lamar dropped his new album GNX by surprise. So far, the project has been a major success. In fact, eight songs from the project are expected to land in the top ten on the Billboard Hot 100 song chart, with “squabble up” potentially coming in at No. 1. It’s also reportedly projected to have sold between 310K and 325K in its first week, exceeding fans’ initial predictions.

Just days after the album arrived, Drake decided to take legal action against Universal Music Group (UMG). He alleges that the label could have prevented the release of Kendrick’s diss track “Not Like Us,” in which the Compton rapper accuses him of being a pedophile. He also accuses UMG and Spotify of artificially boosting the song. Unsurprisingly, this has earned mixed reactions. While some are siding with Drizzy, others think this has just made him look worse. According to DJ Akademiks, it could have even ended up working out in Kendrick’s favor.

Kendrick Lamar’s First-Week Sales Projections Leave DJ Akademiks Concerned

During a recent stream, Ak reacted to Kendrick’s first-week sales projections, arguing that the legal filing helped bring even more attention to the album. “I told y’all that f*ckin’ lawsuit was the f*ckin’ worse timing,” he said. The internet personality continued, claiming that Drake fans need a win, such as Kendrick’s album selling less than Drake’s last release did in its first week. “We need a win right now, and the win is that that n***a in his biggest moment ever, can’t f*ck with Drake,” he explained. “We did 400K. He can’t f*ck with us, we different. Okay? He’s getting a little bit close, so I’m gonna stop talking about it right now.”

During the same stream, Akademiks issued a warning to Drake amid his legal battle with UMG, arguing that it could have one of two outcomes. He claims that one possibility is the music industry changing forever after getting exposed for alleged, and another is Drake getting “violated” in court.

Chloe Bailey Speaks As Fans Accuse Her Of Shooting Her Shot At Kendrick Lamar

Kendrick Lamar recently unleashed his new album GNX with zero notice, and so far, it’s been a success. The project has received positive reviews from countless fans and peers, including Chloe Bailey. The songstress took to social media to share her thoughts on it with her fans earlier this week, making it clear that she’s a fan. Moreover, she revealed that she went through a huge Kendrick phase a few years ago, and even thought they’d eventually end up together.

“About eight years ago, I had a whole Kendrick phase and I was convinced I was going to be with him,” she said. “And I loved him when I was younger so much. Like, I’ve been a die-hard Kendrick fan from day 1. So I haven’t just hopped on the bandwagon.” While many fans agreed with Bailey, others called her out for admitting she previously had a crush on him, as Kendrick is in a relationship with Whitney Alford.

Chloe Bailey Clarifies She’d “Never” Go After A Taken Man

According to Bailey, however, she wasn’t trying to shoot her shot at all. During a recent livestream, she clarified that she was discussing what her feelings were several years ago, and was simply trying to convey how big of a Kendrick fan she was. “I’m not shooting my shot at a married man,” she begins in a clip from the stream. “I was talking about years and years ago. I was just sharing how I was a diehard Kendrick fan, like from day one.”

“Everybody just doesn’t like happiness, everybody has to take everything so seriously,” she continues. “I would never. Honestly, I don’t let stuff like that get to me anymore, I think it’s funny now how people will take things out of context.” This isn’t the first time Bailey inadvertently sparked controversy, however. In September, she revealed that she can’t perform whenever she wants due to her label Parkwood Entertainment, leaving some people blaming Beyonce.

Kendrick Lamar Set To Dominate The Billboard Top 10 And Nab A No. 1 Song In The Process

Many people in 2024 put forth the idea that Kendrick Lamar doesn’t have a lot of successful hits. Funnily enough, it feels like his new album GNX has nothing but that. Moreover, this is not only another great body of work from the Compton lyricist, but it’s also probably his most blunt and immediate one to date, which translates pretty well into catchy choruses, banger beats, and high-rising hits. New first week projections indicate that he will land eight cuts from the record on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart, including a prediction that “squabble up” will go all the way at number one.

Per this sales projection, “tv off,” “luther,” “wacced out murals,” and “hey now” will occupy slots two through five. Then, Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars will interrupt Kendrick Lamar’s streak via “Die With A Smile” at number six, followed by Shaboozey’s ever-present “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” at number seven. Then, the K.Dot train continues with “reincarnated,” “man at the garden,” and “dodger blue” rounding out the top ten in descending order from eight. Not bad, if you ask us.

Kendrick Lamar Could Take Over The Billboard Hot 100

While the topic of Kendrick Lamar and sales is a particularly spicy one now, the legal petition from Drake actually has very little to do with that battle. In either case, people would still spin GNX a lot, and we predict that this is the project that will carry us out into the end of the year. Folks are very curious to see how it actually performs commercially, especially considering that sales projections for it just get better and better. Also, the lack of promotion for the LP given its surprise nature makes these numbers particularly interesting to analyze.

Meanwhile, the praise for GNX remains high among fans and critics alike, even from unexpected corners. Kendrick Lamar definitely found a hit with this new album, and that’s amazing when you think about fans’ theories of a better, more purposeful album on the way. Even if that’s true, we’re happy to wait a while for it. This Hot 100 projection shows that this entire project has a lot of resonant ideas.

Suki Baby From Drake & 21 Savage’s “Her Loss” Cover Praises Kendrick Lamar’s New Album

Earlier this month, Kendrick Lamar caught fans and critics alike off guard by unleashing his new album, GNX. The release followed months of rumors that he had a project on the way, and of course, his viral feud with Drake. Countless social media users have continued to share their takes on the album, and in general, most are enjoying it. This includes Suki Baby, the woman featured on the cover of Drake and 21 Savage’s collab album, Her Loss.

During a recent chat with her fans, Suki praised GNX, making it clear that she thinks the album goes far beyond a rap battle. “This album that Kendrick put out, this is for the world,” she explained. “Like, we could go two three songs back and it’s like he not even talking about bro. He’s at this point in his life where he’s on some sh*t like a lot of us. Where you have a threshold of how much you let people play with you, and like, this is just his way of putting out to the world ‘Nobody is f*cking playing with me.’ It’s not just directed at him.”

Suki Baby Claims Kendrick Lamar’s GNX Is “For The World”

Unsurprisingly, Suki Baby’s stance has viewers split. While some are accusing her of turning her back on Drizzy, others are coming to her defense, and arguing that she has every right to share her unbiased opinion on an album. “Wow wasn’t expecting this,” one X user writes. “She’s speaking the truth,” another says. Suki is far from the only person feeling Kendrick’s new album lately, however. Nas, Snoop Dogg, and many more have also shown their support online recently.

Busta Rhymes even took to X earlier this week to applaud Kendrick for his latest release. “King Kendrick, such an incredible body of work! Brilliance and lyrical craftsmanship at its finest. Thank you for continuing to raise the bar! [crown emoji],” he wrote.

Matt Barnes & Stephen Jackson Don’t Believe Kendrick Lamar Dissed Lil Wayne

Kendrick Lamar did not take long to let loose on his new album GNX, as its opening track “wacced out murals” arguably contains the project’s most divisive lyric right before the beat fully kicks in. “Used to bump ‘Tha Carter III,’ I held my Rollie chain proud / Irony, I think my hard work let Lil Wayne down,” he raps on the cut. This sparked a menacing response from Tunechi and a whole lot of conversations around why K.Dot penned this and what comes next. Matt Barns and Stephen Jackson chimed into the debate on their All The Smoke podcast, and they don’t actually think that these bars constitute a full-on diss.

“I didn’t even take what he said about Wayne and Snoop as a diss,” Stephen Jackson expressed concerning Kendrick Lamar and Lil Wayne. “I don’t think Wayne did, too. But I think he still had to respond. You know, I don’t think that should end up as a beef with Kendrick and Wayne. I kind of feel like the song was dope. He kind of felt like he wanted Wayne to congratulate him too, ’cause he looked up to Wayne and he used to jam Wayne. But I feel how Wayne felt, too. ‘We coming home, this is my home, I’m the best rapper to ever come from [here].’ So I look at it both sides, man. I just hope it don’t end up in the negative. But if Wayne did come out with a song and responded, I wouldn’t be mad.”

Matt Barnes & Stephen Jackson Weigh In On Kendrick Lamar’s Lil Wayne Bar

“I actually heard someone tell a story about how kind of that came about,” Matt Barnes said of Kendrick Lamar and Lil Wayne, agreeing with Stephen Jackson’s points. “I want to say it was Jay Rock had Wayne in the studio. And they said something, like, Wayne knocked 12 singles off for a handful of different people in one night. It made Kendrick kind of reevaluate, like, ‘Yo, this is how we got to work. This is how hard we got to work.’ So when he said, ‘My hard work let Wayne down,’ I think he was paying homage to Wayne initially because Wayne gave him a different grind. It’s from what I heard, so I don’t really know how true the story is. But it seemed like a pretty logical reason.”

Also, Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson wondered about how huge a Kendrick Lamar and Lil Wayne beef would be and how it might be even better for them to hit the Super Bowl halftime show stage together. Whether or not they end up clashing, these questions will keep fans debating for the foreseeable future.

Kendrick Lamar “GNX” Sales Projections Continue To Skyrocket

The massive commercial success of Kendrick Lamar’s GNX should come as no surprise, even if its release was just that. After all, he’s one of the biggest rappers in the game and just came off of a championship year following his victorious battle with Drake. But even the most hardcore K.Dot fans thought that his first week sales projections for this new album would stay steady at just under the 300K album-equivalent units mark. However, according to new reports, the album’s sales projections now indicate numbers between 310K and 325K first week, which is very interesting news. It seems like more and more people are tuning in and revisiting the tracklist.

Also, we assume that physical sales for GNX also contribute to these new projections, and will likely maintain some solid momentum for the LP in the weeks to come. Also, Kendrick Lamar might land multiple cuts off the album on the Billboard Hot 100 amid a lot of streaming success and radio play, although it’s far too early to tell at this point. Maybe some fans are just reaching with the numbers, but either way, the project’s performed very well.

Kendrick Lamar’s Updated GNX Sales Projections

Of course, any conversation around Kendrick Lamar and sales right now has a whole lot of baggage and legal tension behind it. Drake filed a petition that basically announced plans to sue Universal Music Group and Spotify for allegedly colluding to artificially boost the sales of “Not Like Us,” which the Toronto rapper claims also makes their label (as he and Kendrick are both on UMG) and the streaming service liable for defamation. It’s a pretty anti-hip-hop move in the traditional sense and an anti-industry benchmark in another, but neither excuse fully explains the controversy behind it.

But that whole debacle falls outside of the scope of Kendrick Lamar’s GNX, a project that its collaborators like Peysoh are very excited to reflect on. Fans are loving it, it’s making a big splash, and it hasn’t even been out a week yet. It’s been an amazing year to be a Kendrick Lamar fan, and with his Super Bowl halftime show coming soon, it might be an amazing 2025, too.

Peysoh Recalls The Studio Session That Landed Him On Kendrick Lamar’s “GNX”

Kendrick Lamar’s new album GNX is an absolute smash hit, and now that the shock is dying down, we can appreciate some of the project’s finer details. Fortunately, this caused many Kendrick fans to take a closer look at the collaborators that he enlisted for this LP. One of the standouts is a 20-year-old Mexican-American rapper by the name of Peysoh, one of a few lesser-known California MCs who appear on the record. He appears specifically on the title track – a posse cut with Hitta J3 and YoungThreat – and recently spoke to Brown Bag Mornings about how the link-up came about.

“And then, I did my verse in, like, five, ten minutes,” Peysoh recalled of one of his various sessions with Kendrick Lamar for GNX and eventually its title track. “Yeah, we definitely chopped it up. We chopped it up and s**t. Yeah, [he’s been listening to me] since “6 Block,” since the first one. He knew some of the lyrics, he knew about some of the story.

Peysoh Speaks On Kendrick Lamar “gnx” Feature

“I was telling [a friend] when we got home, ‘What the f**k? Like, if he’s hearing it, like, who else is hearing it?’” Peysoh continued of the Kendrick Lamar feature. “And it really be a matter of time before they embrace you. And I’ve always been, like, understanding of that. Like, you got to reach a certain cap before you break through it, and then it just takes that one embracement. It just takes one domino piece, you feel me? Like, that’s all it takes. Hell yeah.”

The show’s hosts asked Peysoh whether or not he and Kendrick Lamar got straight to work or if they were able to talk with each other casually beforehand, which is what he usually does according to what fellow GNX collaborator Lefty Gunplay told the hosts. By the way, Lefty recently claimed in another podcast that a GNX deluxe is coming. In addition, Brown Bag Mornings asked Peysoh about whether or not he’s going to work with Tyler, The Creator now that K.Dot gave him this big boost. “Man, y’all just got to see that,” he cheekily answered with a laugh, which prompted the same from everyone else.

Chloe Bailey Recalls Being “Convinced” She’d End Up With Kendrick Lamar

It’s no secret that Kendrick Lamar is getting a lot of love these days, from both his fans and peers. The Compton rapper just unleashed his new album GNX by surprise, and so far, it’s received mostly positive reviews. Social media users continue to share their thoughts on the new project, most recently including Chloe Bailey.

The songstress took to Instagram Live this week to chat with her fans, and to discuss the explosive drop. According to her, she hasn’t stopped listening to it since it came out. It’s far from the first time she’s dived into his material, however. Before revealing some of her favorite songs from GNX, Bailey recalled a phase she went through a few years ago. At the time, she said she was a huge fan of Kendrick and was even convinced they’d end up in a romantic relationship someday.

Chloe Bailey Looks Back On Her Kendrick Lamar Phase

“About eight years ago, I had a whole Kendrick phase and I was convinced I was going to be with him,” she explained. “And I loved him when I was younger so much. Like, I’ve been a die-hard Kendrick fan from day 1. So I haven’t just hopped on the bandwagon.” Of course, fans can’t blame Bailey for enjoying GNX. Unfortunately, however, many aren’t feeling her other comments, as Kendrick is in a public relationship with Whitney Alford. “He’s married so why would you even post this? SMH,” one Instagram critic says in the Hollywood Unlocked comments section. “This to a married man is beyond disrespectful,” another claims.

Other commenters are coming to Bailey’s defense, arguing that it’s totally normal to have a crush. “So y’all don’t have crushes on celebrities that are married? Method man? Idris Elba? Denzel Washington? Come on now,” one fan writes. “She said 8 years ago!” someone else points out.

Just a few days after the release of the album, Lamar’s current rival, Drake, filed multiple lawsuits against Universal Music Group regarding the diss track, “Not Like Us.” He’s alleging that the label, along with Spotify, artificially boosted the success of the song. “UMG did not rely on chance, or even ordinary business practices,” lawyers for Drake wrote. “It instead launched a campaign to manipulate and saturate the streaming services and airwaves.” Additionally, he complains that UMG didn’t block its release, despite knowing Lamar makes several unfounded allegations in the lyrics. It’s unclear whether the lawsuits will affect Lamar’s ability to perform the song at the Super Bowl Halftime Show.
