The entire Real Housewives multiverse is filled with exaggerated feuds between castmates. Usually the beefs remain within the Bravo network family. However, thanks to “Lace It” rapper Eminem’s trademark dispute filing in February againstPotomac branch members Giselle Bryant and Robyn Dixon, he’s been reluctantly introduced to the stars’ feisty nature.

Eminem is fighting to block the duo’s protection over their podcast name, Reasonably Shady. Now the legal battle has escalated from a simple intellectual property mix-up to a full-on protective order request. Bryant and Dixon’s lawyer, Andrea Evans, has responded to Eminem’s legal maneuver via a statement in People.

“It seems obvious to us that if you file a lawsuit, you should be made available to be deposed,” wrote Evans. “[We’d] like to question Mathers at least about his use of the expressions Slim Shady and Shady. It’s unclear to us that Mathers can be the owner of the trademarks and file this suit against our clients, but he will not make himself available to be deposed.”

As a response to the blockage in October, the pair’s legal team requested that Eminem make himself available for questioning to explain why he felt the Reasonably Shady podcast could be seen as an extension of his Shady enterprise. Eminem reportedly declined, stating it would become “unduly burdensome,” suggesting others, including his manager, Paul Rosenberg, speak on his behalf.

Bryant and Dixon’s representatives weren’t okay with this alternative. The case is moving forward, and thus the saga continues.

Eminem Requests Protective Order Amid “Real Housewives” Trademark Battle

In February of this year, Eminem moved to block a trademark application from Gizelle Bryant and Robyn Dixon. The two Real Housewives cast members host a podcast called Reasonably Shady. According to “the real Slim Shady,” trademarking the name of their podcast would make confusion “unavoidable.”

Recently, according to legal documents obtained by AllHipHop, Bryant and Dixon filed a motion to compel him for a deposition. In response, Eminem requested a protective order, and argued that a deposition is “unwarranted.” His legal team claims that the rapper has “limited knowledge” of the matter at hand. They also say that there are far more qualified individuals available to answer their questions.

“Opposer’s Motion to Compel the deposition of Mathers is also premature and unwarranted because, despite Opposer’s expression that the deposition would be both duplicative and unduly burdensome given Mathers’ limited knowledge of the subjects at issue, his absence of unique knowledge of the subjects at issue and others’ superior knowledge of said issues, Applicants have made no attempt to obtain the discovery they seek via more convenient and less burdensome means,” his lawyer writes.

“Opposer has offered to produce three other individuals having equal and superior knowledge to Mathers on the relevant topics,” he continues. “However, without making any attempt to assess whether they will be able to obtain the relevant information from said individuals, and having taken no depositions to date, Applicants remain insistent on deposing Mathers, a high-level and removed decision maker. Accordingly, Applicants’ Motion to Compel should be denied and … Opposer asks this Board to issue a protective order precluding the deposition of Marshall Mathers III.” What do you think of Real Housewives Gizelle Bryant and Robyn Dixon attempting to depose Eminem? Gizelle Bryant & Robyn Dixon Battle Eminem

Gizelle Bryant and Robyn Dixon are taking on Eminem in a battle between two reality stars and a rap icon. The stakes are high as Gizelle and Robyn have found themselves in the crosshairs of none other than Eminem. The two women own a podcast called Reasonably Shady, and their plan is to trademark the name. However, their plans seem to have hit a snag as Eminem has gotten involved. To everyone’s surprise, Eminem is taking offense to Gizelle Bryant’s and Robyn Dixon’s goals regarding their podcast.

Both Gizelle Bryant and Robyn Dixon are members of The Real Housewives of Potomac, and have their own podcast together. The name of the podcast, Reasonably Shady, didn’t cause any controversy on its own until recently. The legendary rapper Eminem has recently gotten his legal team involved, as he believes that the name of their podcast is too close to his own trademark. In his earlier days, Eminem was windy popular for his alter ego, Slim Shady. The alter ego also goes by just Shady. Either way, Eminem feels like people will get the rapper’s persona and the podcast mixed up.

Eminem Takes On Gizelle Bryant And Robyn Dixon

Gizelle Bryant and Robyn Dixon have fought back against Eminem’s claims. They are arguing that the names are not that similar and that no one will mistake the podcast for being affiliated with the rapper. While the podcast name does include the word “shady,” there is no other resemblance between their show and Eminem’s trademark. The rapper does not want the pair to be able to sell any merchandise relating to the show with the Reasonably Shady trademark. Gizelle and Robyn are now also getting involved legally.

The term “shady” is a popular one among the hip hop community. While some may be able to see where Eminem is coming from, others believe that he may be over protective of his success. The battle has left Gizelle Bryant and Robyn Dixon frustrated, as they had no intention of infringing on Eminem’s trademark. However the legal battle turns out, the reality stars have no intention of ceasing their podcast.
