Colorado Students Told To Behave During USC Game

Colorado Athletic Director Rick George penned a letter to the student body this week as the Buffs prepare to take on #8 USC. George’s letter outlined the behavioral expectations being placed on students attending the game. “We want to remind [students] of our expectations of fan conduct during games. We expect all our fans to refrain from vulgar language, verbal or physical abuse, underage drinking, and overall intoxication. This type of conduct will not be tolerated at our home sporting events, and I have instructed our gameday staff and members of law enforcement to enhance their monitoring efforts of our fans’ conduct.

Furthermore, George asked fans to refrain from storming the field in the event Colorado wins as 21.5-point underdogs. “Although ‘rushing the field’ has long been a college football tradition, in recent years, many schools and conferences are cracking down on the practice, as it greatly jeopardizes the safety of players, coaches, staff and other fans,” the statement continued. “Rushing the field is in violation of University and Pac-12 regulations. Unfortunately, after both of our first two home games, we received an inordinate number of complaints regarding fan conduct (especially student conduct), and after both of our home game victories, students and fans ‘rushed the field.’ Such conduct is unacceptable, and I ask you to please refrain from such behavior for any future events.”

Chandler Jones Arrested In Las Vegas Amid Social Media Antics

Raiders defensive star Chandler Jones is reported to have been arrested on September 29. Jones was arrested by the Vegas Police Department hours after breaking down on a livestream before telling his social media followers that he planned to hit up a strip club. While TMZ was the first to report the arrest, the details remain scarce. However, a police spokesperson did tell the outlet that Jones was detained for violating a protective order.

Before Jones stepped away from social media on Thursday, he had engaged positively with Antonio Brown. “We gotta sit down and have a Kumbaya…call it CTE podcast! I love you too!” Jones wrote on X after AB sent some love his way. Hours earlier, Jones did a dawn livestream out in the Nevada desert. The Raiders defensive star was behaving erratically. He shone a powerful flashlight directly into the camera. Furthermore, he announced that Aaron Hernandez didn’t kill himself in jail before bursting into tears.

Furthermore, Jones’ arrest comes at the end of another bizarre week for him. Earlier this week, Jones claimed that he was hospitalized against his will by the Las Vegas Fire Department. In journal entries posted to X, Jones recounted his ordeal. He claims to have been taken from his open by a group of firemen and injected with an unknown substance in the back of an ambulance. From there, he was taken to Southern Hills Hospital and later transferred to Seven Hills Behavioral Health Hospital. Jones reportedly refused medications and was not told why he had been hospitalized.

Furthermore, Jones alleged that he had called Raiders GM Dave Zeigler “6 to 7 times asking for help and I wondered if he had me put in here, but he never answered.” Jones has claimed that he is simply seeking answers about the behavior exhibited by the Raiders. “I’m still confused on what I did wrong. I’m stuck here, I’m very sane, I’m to strong of a person to be mentally broken.” The Raiders, LVFD, and LVPD all declined to comment on the situation.

Lil Wayne Leads Out The Packers Before “Thursday Night Football”

Jordan Love threw for 246 yards while the Packers only managed 27 yards on the ground. Meanwhile, Lions RB David Montgomery absolutely dominated, with 121 yards and three touchdowns on the day.

XFL And USFL Announce Merger

The XFL and USFL have announced a merger between the two spring football leagues. “If the transaction is consummated, the new league will establish best-in-class operations based on the most recent seasons of both leagues. This historic combination will anchor professional spring football with substantial capabilities and resources to ensure future growth and continue to enhance the development of the collective players, coaches, and staff that are coming together,” the leagues said in a joint statement.

It’s a move many expected as neither spring league was perfect. While the USFL was the better football product, the XFL had better visibility and viewership. The USFL is owned by Fox while the XFL is owned by The Rock and his ex-wife. Both leagues are revivals of older spring leagues. The XFL was first formed in 2001 and folded after a season. It was revived in 2020 but declared for bankruptcy after the pandemic cut its first season short. Meanwhile, the USFL briefly existed during the 1980s before being revived in 2022.

The press release that announced the merge stated that more details about the new league would be announced at a later time. As it stands, there are 16 teams and hundreds of players looking at a somewhat uncertain future. The XFL has teams in Arlington, DC, Houston, Orlando, San Antonio, Seattle, St. Louis, and Vegas. Meanwhile, the USFL operates in Michigan, Philadelphia, New Jersey, Pittsburgh, Birmingham, New Orleans, Houston, and Memphis.

However, as mentioned, the merger will allow a spring football product, especially one without the explicit backing of the NFL, to survive. In the past few years, the various spring leagues have been feeders for the NFL. Following the 2023 seasons, 13 USFL players and 18 XFL players ended up with NFL teams, be it on the active roster or on a practice squad. Notable players include Daniel Whelan, the Packers’ starting punter, and Brandon Aubrey, the Cowboy’s starting kicker.

Travis Hunter And Henry Blackburn Link Up To Quash Beef Rumors

Colorado two-way star and Colorado State defensive starter Henry Blackburn linked up this week to show there’s no bad blood between the two players. A Colorado State spokesperson told ESPN that the two players met and went bowling this week. Rumors of a grudge have circulated ever since Blackburn’s illegal hit on Hunter two weeks ago left Hunter with a lacerated liver. The meet-up will be part of an upcoming video on Hunter’s YouTube channel. Blackburn’s teammate Ron Hardge III, whose brother plays at Colorado, helped connect the two players.

Even with any notion of bad blood quashed, Hunter remains on the sidelines. He missed Colorado’s 42-6 loss to Oregon last weekend and is set to miss their upcoming game against #8 USC on Saturday. It’s unclear how many more games he will miss. Colorado’s first two games of October are a road game against Arizona State and a home game against Stanford.

Colorado Given “Puncher’s Chance” Against USC

#8 USC and Heisman candidate Caleb Williams is certainly not the opponent that Colorado would want to face without Hunter. However, they haven’t been counted out completely. ESPN‘s Paul Finnebaum said that the Buffs have a “puncher’s chance” against USC. “They are playing one of the better teams in the country, but one that is still suspectable on defense.” While other contributors one Get Up, Football weren’t as confident in an upset, they were still willing to argue that Colorado has come leaps and bounds from their one-win 2022 campaign.

While the loss to Colorado killed most of the “Colorado National Champions” momentum, most pundits see the Buffs as, at the very least, a bowl team this year. To do that, they will need a minimum of three more wins to finish at least 6-6. Arizona State (1-3) and Stanford (1-3) both seem like good candidates to get them to five wins. However, that’s where the gimmes end for Colorado. The rest of their slate is UCLA (3-1), #19 Oregon State (3-1), Arizona (3-1), #16 Washington State (4-0), and #10 Utah (4-0).

Could this be an explanation for AB’s bizarre CTE tweets? Earlier this month, Brown was seen partying with members of the Theta Chi fraternity at Florida State, including performing some of his music with them. The video of that link-up, posted by Brown himself, included the cryptic phrase “Catch the Energy”, which Brown has been utilizing as of late. However, subsequent footage from that party shows Brown engaging in some more typical Antonio Brown behavior. In one video uploaded by a party attendee, a mostly naked Brown is seen throwing his pants to a student. The student then reveals that because of this, he is now in possession of not only Brown’s pants but also his phone. The short video shows the student scrolling through Brown’s notifications and trying a few passcodes on his lock screen. It’s unclear if Brown later retook possession of his phone. Brown himself later tweeted “Where my @.”

The CTE/Catch The Energy comments came from previously videos from Brown. First he showed a woman with a split tongue licking his finger with the caption “I got CTE” before stating in a later post that he meant “Catch The Energy”, a phrase that he had seemingly made up. Now it appears that Jones has also caught the energy, whatever that means. Furthermore, Jones has now once again promised to “expose” Raiders owner Mark Davis. Previously, Jones seemingly accused Davis of covering for someone who molested Jones’ goddaughter.
