Benzino Reacts To J. Cole’s Kendrick Lamar Apology, Challenges Eminem To A Rap Battle

After Kendrick Lamar dissed Drake and J. Cole on “Like That” with Future and Metro Boomin, fans were eager to hear how each MC would fire back. Their wishes were partially granted earlier this month when Cole surprise-released his album Might Delete Later, complete with a Kendrick diss track, “7 Minute Drill.” Not long after the release, however, J. Cole had a change of heart. During his performance at Dreamville, he apologized for the song, and even later removed it from streaming services for good.

The unexpected move was pretty controversial among fans, but according to Benzino, it didn’t come as a surprise to him. During a recent chat with TMZ Hip Hop, The Source icon weighed in on the debacle and came to J. Cole’s defense. Moreover, he praised the MC for staying relatively unproblematic, and for setting a good example of conflict resolution.

Benzino Praises J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, And Drake

“J. Cole, Kendrick, Drake, they’re not battle rappers. Not saying that they can’t, but they didn’t come into the game as that. They came into the game making amazing songs,” he explained. While Benzino might respect J. Cole for his approach to the beef, he notes that the same doesn’t apply to him amid his years-long feud with Eminem.

Elsewhere in the interview, he challenged Slim Shady to a face-to-face rap battle, as he believes he’s in his prime. “I believe I could face-to-face battle with him and I’m willing to do so,” he announced. “I’m willing to challenge him right here on TMZ. A face-to-face battle, three rounds, and I believe I could take him.

Drake Says He’s Yet To Push The “Red Button” After Diss Track Leak

Yesterday (April 13), what appeared to be Drake’s eagerly anticipated response to disses from Kendrick Lamar, Metro Boomin, Rick Ross, Future, and more surfaced online. At first, most listeners didn’t believe the track, reportedly titled “Push Ups,” was real. Instead, it was widely speculated that it was generated using AI. Eventually, a new high-quality version began making its rounds, which DJ Akademiks reacted to on stream.

Of course, once the track was confirmed to be real, fans went wild. They’ve since been busy analyzing each and every jab, and many believe he’s come out on top. According to Drizzy, however, he’s just getting started. A screenshot of some DMs between the Toronto-born performer and an associate has now been unveiled, revealing that he’s got more up his sleeve.

Drake Is Just Getting Started

“Red button even pushed yet?” the associate asked Drake. “Nope,” he replied, “Not even close.” Obviously, things are only beginning, but the uproar he’s already managed to create is pretty impressive. Countless social media users are sharing their reactions online, and speculating what’s to come. He’s yet to say much about the situation, though he did share a photo of Uma Thurman in Kill Bill on his Instagram Story, poking fun at the whole “20 vs 1” debacle.

Shortly after Drake’s diss dropped, Rick Ross even responded with a track of his own, “Champagne Moments.” On it, he accuses Drizzy of getting a nose job, hitting French Montana with a cease and desist, and much more. Clearly, he didn’t waste any time. It’s now speculated that the cease and desist he mentions in the song was over Drake’s scrapped “Splash Brothers” verse for Mac & Cheese 5. What do you think of Drake claiming the “red button” hasn’t even been pushed yet? What else do you think he has up his sleeve? Jadakiss Wants To Ask J Cole “What Happened?” With Kendrick Lamar Feud

Jadakiss wants to speak with J Cole about his apology to Kendrick Lamar because he can’t figure out why he did it. Appearing on The Stephen A. Smith Show, he discussed Cole’s apology as well as Lamar’s feud with Drake.

Jadakiss began by explaining that he doesn’t think Cole was “worried” about what Lamar was going to fire back with and instead suggested that he “felt something internally.” From there, he said that he wants to ask Cole “what happened?” Jadakiss also theorized that Drake is definitely going to drop a response but that it will come when “it dies down.”

Cole’s apology came just days after he dropped a response to Lamar’s verse on “Like That” with his own song, “7 Minute Drill.” On the effort, he labeled Lamar’s discography overrated. Performing at Dreamville Festival, he admitted he didn’t feel good about doing so. “I’m so proud of that project except for one part,” Cole said. “There’s one part of that sh*t that makes me feel like, ‘Man, that’s the lamest sh*t I ever did in my f*cking life.’ And, I know this is not what a lot of people wanna hear. I can hear my n****s up there right now like, ‘Nah, don’t do that.’” He further labeled Lamar as one of the greatest of all time and has since deleted “7 Minute Drill” from streaming services.

Joe Budden Weighs The “Good” & “Bad” From J Cole’s Apology To Kendrick Lamar

Joe Budden broke down J Cole’s apology to Kendrick Lamar from the Dreamville Festival on the latest episode of his eponymous podcast. In doing so, he found “good” and “bad” to take away from the incident. The apology arrived after Cole already dissed Lamar on the outro to his new mixtape, Might Delete Later.

“I’m all for J Cole’s mental health being well,” Budden began while discussing the positives. “I said last pod that anybody who wants to bow out of this thing please feel free to because this is not for the weakhearted. It’s not. It comes with a lot more than 1000 phone calls. If you not ready to move in a different capacity, if you not ready to speak in a different capacity like I said earlier, risk some relationships, if you not ready to see n****s that you thought were friendly turn unfriendly– This is before you get to anybody laying a bar. Your lifestyle has to change.” From there, he listed his credentials in the game. He further described Cole’s decision as a “bold, mature move for hip-hop.”

He added that Cole’s lack of energy on “7 Minute Drill” and subsequent backtracking only made “Like That” sound even harder. Check out Budden’s full comments below.

The feud began when Cole referenced Lamar on his collaboration with Drake, “First Person Shooter.” He rapped: “Love when they argue the hardest MC/ Is it K. Dot? Is it Aubrey? Or me?/ We the big three like we started a league, but right now, I feel like Muhammad Ali.” In response, Lamar hopped on Future and Metro Boomin’s “Like That” to proclaim himself to be in a league of his own. “Yeah, get up with me, f–k sneak dissing/ ‘First Person Shooter,’ I hope they came with three switches,” he rapped. After two weeks of silence, Cole finally responded with “7 Minute Drill,” but has since apologized for doing so and revealed he wants to take the track off streaming services.

Doechii Pops Off On Azealia Banks After Being Told Her Fans Should Be Called “Wannabe’s”

Doechii is an artist who has been ascending into a bonafide star. Overall, she has come through with hit songs and has also delivered some fantastic projects. Additionally, she has worked with some of the biggest women artists in the entire game. She is being recognized for her hard work, and it has led to an always-increasing fanbase. Unfortunately, despite this success, there are some people out there who are looking to hate on Doechii. One such person is none other than Azealia Banks, who recently made some shady comments online.

If you know anything about Banks, you know that she can be pretty mean. Her scathing critiques are usually reserved for the likes of Nicki Minaj, Beyonce, and even Grimes. However, on Tuesday night, she decided to take aim at Doechii. In an Instagram comment, Banks insinuated that Doechii was an ugly version of her. Moreover, she said the artist should be referring to her fans as the “Wannabe’s.” It was a rude comment, and Doechii certainly took notice of it.

This subsequently led to a clap back that was both strong and biting. “The first time you came for me I let it slide outta respect for my elders,” Doechii began. “It’s not my fault you selling bussy soap and I’m selling platinum records. Leave me alone PLEASE.” If there is anything that can be learned here, it is that Doechii is not one to be played with. She is extremely confident in herself, and that is not going to change anytime soon. As for Banks, perhaps this beef is one worth squashing immediately.

Rihanna Admits She’s A “Silent Troll” While Reflecting On Ciara Feud

Rihanna says she’s become a “silent troll” while staying off social media as of late. She made the comment while discussing her infamous feud with Ciara during a cover story for Interview Magazine published on Tuesday. For the piece, she spoke with the publication’s editor-in-chief, Mel Ottenberg, who used to be her stylist.

The topic arose when Ottenberg asked, “Do you miss being on the internet, like really on the internet? Like, ‘Good luck booking that stage you speak of’ internet? Because you were so good at it.” The remark he mentioned was something Rihanna told Ciara on Twitter back in 2011 after Ciara claimed she ignored her backstage at an event. “The troll in me, she had a time,” Rihanna told Ottenberg. “Unfortunately, you can’t take anything back from the internet, so I will always have the reminders, but the best troll in me is the silent troll.” It’s worth noting that both Rihanna and Ciara showed each other love and apologized once they cooled off later that night.
