[WATCH] DJ Drama Denies Taking Shots At Funk Flex And DJ Khaled

Screen Shot 2023 04 01 at 12.33.30 PM

DJ Drama has finally debunked reports regarding the rumored rivalry between himself, DJ Khaled and Funk Flex.
This week, Drama stopped by Sway in the Morning ahead of the release of his long-awaited project, I’m Really Like That — an album he revealed is all about confidence and being genuine.

Sway asked the Grammy award winning DJ to touch on his alleged feud with two of Hip Hop’s most successful DJs, DJ Khaled and Funk Flex.

“Shoutout to Khaled. Shoutout to Flex,” Drama told Sway. “One thing about all of us is, when we put these projects together and we come with these collaborative projects — like this shit ain’t easy for nobody. It’s not a walk in the park.

“It’s a lot of work. It’s a lot of dedication. It is not an easy thing to do. So, for people listening who questions any of us. It takes a lot. It’s an amazing skill to be in this position. To be able to put albums out— and consistently.”

He added: “The three of us that you mentioned we have multiple albums under our belts. Not even like this its one. This is my sixth album outside of the 250 mixtapes that I have done.”

“This is Hip Hop though,” Sway quickly interjected, leading into his next question. “This is a competitive sport. Now talk about the rivalry. Is there a rivalry between you and Khaled? You and Flex?”

“Nah, there’s no rivalry,” said DJ Drama squashing the hearsay for good. “I mean, first off Flex is someone I grew up inspired by — looking up to — somewhat of the blueprint in so many aspects. He was on radio. He was on television. You couldn’t open up a magazine without seeing an endorsement without him. He was putting out albums.

“Now, that Flex is a peer and a friend of mine, that’s one of those things that if I were to tell the young 13, 14-year-old kid who was aspiring to be a DJ that one day I’d be standing side-by-side with Flex — I wouldn’t believe it.”

Meanwhile, the Generation Now executive admitted when it comes to Khaled, he credits the pair for dominating a generation of their own — much like DJ Clue and Flex did in their time.

“I think that if there were a generation that was dominated by Clue and Flex, then me and Khaled came along and it was like we were the two big figures in Hip Hop when it came to DJs,” Drama said.

“I think there’s room for everybody to prosper — to do their thing. Absolutely, Hip Hop is a competitive but it’s like going to the league. we’re going to get on that court and in that moment I’m ready to bust anybody ass. But, in all aspects, we’re all incredible at what we do.”

He added: “As DJs, I pay homage to everybody. But, I’m one of the greatest to ever do it and that’s what it is.”

When Sway asked him to clarify some of his lyrics, such as: “I don’t care how many times I gotta prove myself they not built like us,” Drama laughed it off. “It’s not directed at anyone in particular. I’m just talking my shit. If someone feels some type of way or if the shoe fits, you know — those are two brothers who show love specifically but it’s not for anybody at all. It’s just me being in my competitive bag.”

Drama’s new album, I’m Really Like That, boasts appearances from Lil Wayne, Tyler, The Creator, Lil Baby, Jeezy, Lil Uzi Vert, Offset, T.I., Rick Ross, Jack Harlow, Gucci Mane, Westside Gunn and the late Nipsey Hussle, among others.

Rapper/visionary Royce Da 5’9″ has gone on record several times stating that Redman is one of his favorite MC’s. The two rap heavy-hitters share a mutual admiration as Redman has sung Royce praises on social media while listening to the Detroit veteran. At the beginning of the clip Redman says, “Royce 5 fucking 9, n-gga. Listen to this fucking verse.” From there, he lets the song ‘Flesh’ play as he nods his head to the beat. Fast forward to now, it comes as no surprise that the two lyrical giants would trade verses on their latest track, “Royce & Reggie.”

Redman sets the tone of the song with his hard-hitting classic punchlines “women all in my DM/ Give ’em that super-dick/ Yeah, I Apollo Creed ’em.” Royce follows, showcasing his technical skills and lyrical prowess over the DJ Pain 1-produced beat.

The song is featured on Royce’s newly released The Heaven Experience: Lost Sessions EP. The six-track EP takes the listener on a rollercoaster of emotions from personal stories about his uncle to his transformation into a ‘Grown Ass Man’. Ion Wanna” feat. Courtney Bell and Traxx Sanders displays storytelling at its finest rounding out a perfectly well-rounded EP with no skips.

Always reinventing himself through new ideas, The Heaven Experience: Lost Sessions is part of a new virtual world Royce has launched in partnership with Passage, a Metaverse and NFT marketplace and blog.

The project is available across all streaming platforms through Heaven Studios Inc. in partnership with The Orchard. Fans can participate in the Metaverse-like experience by buying the Heaven Experience Pass on April 4.

“The more you achieve, the more you’ll realize how much sum’n like this means to you… I studied Redman like religion just so I could be reciprocal if I should ever one day have a chance to be,” he wrote. “I needed this to be his reaction to me because this was always my reaction to him.

“We all experience our own subjective versions of perceived success but what are the people who cheer for us, celebrating? The most visible, obvious things are the easiest to forget about over time and Legacy is everything to me.”

Benzino is fed up with people in the LGBTQ+ community flirting ith him and has issued an announcement on social media to leave him alone.

On Friday, the former Made Men rapper took to Twitter to denounce anyone flirting with him who doesn’t identify as a heterosexual woman. While he admitted he “respected” the community, he added that he wasn’t flattered because he himself is not part of it.

30-Year-Old Nurse Passes Away Performing Liposuction On Herself

Screen Shot 2023 03 31 at 9.28.40 AM

A 30-year-old woman passed away at a clinic after she reportedly gave herself anesthesia and performed liposuction on herself. The victim, who was identified only as Carina, was a nurse at a south-central facility in Mexico called Clinica Amper.

New York Post reports:

The nurse  never had permission to undergo surgery and did so when her employer was not present. Dr. Rolando Samper Mendoza, who owns the clinic, said the woman performed the operation “without my authorization or permission.” He continued, “One of my nurses named Carina… decided on her own to perform abdominal liposuction with local anesthetic… The result of this incomprehensible action was that she died as a result of the massive absorption of anesthetic that she administered herself.”

After being found unconscious by a fellow employee, Carina’s official cause of death was listed as cardiorespiratory arrest — when a person suddenly stops breathing and their heart fails. She’d been trying to perform liposuction on her stomach when the situation went awry. Paramedics were called to the scene and did all they could to revive the nurse; however, they were unsuccessful in their attempts. The outlet noted that the woman was not professionally trained to deal with administering anesthesia.

Mexico has long been a country where people flock in order to undergo various cosmetic surgeries due to lower costs associated with procedures. According to Patients Beyond Borders, over 1 million United States citizens travel to Mexico each year to find inexpensive weight-loss solutions such as liposuction, buttock augmentation and abdominoplasties. The topic recently made headlines when four Americans were violently kidnapped by Mexican cartel members earlier this month as one member of the group was reportedly being escorted by friends to a cosmetic procedure appointment. Unfortunately, two of the four were killed during the trip.

Typically medical issues from liposuction are minor, with the rate for complications at just 5%, according to a 2017 study published in the National Library of Medicine.

Today in Hip Hop History: Kris Kross Dropped Their Debut Album ‘Totally Krossed Out’ 31 Years Ago

tumblr 1ca660568155b427135157093b437bf4 214c93e7 1280

On this day in Hip Hop history, Atlanta based tag-team Kriss Kross released their ridiculously successful debut album, Totally Krossed Out.

The album was the follow up to the mega-hit single Jump released in February of the same year. Largely written and produced by Jermaine Dupri, it took two years to produce the album after the musical concept for the group was conceptualized.

Totally Krossed Out was as successful as anyone could ask their debut album to be. The album claimed the #1 spot on both the Billboard 200 chart and the Top R&B/Hip-Hop chart and sold over four million copies in the year of its release. Two of the four singles released from the album, “Jump” and “Warm It Up” were both #1 Hot Rap Singles.

“Jump” is one of the biggest singles of its era. It claimed the #1 spot on the Eurochart Hot 100 as well as the top music charts in Australia, Finland, Ireland, New Zealand, and Switzerland. It was a Top 10 hit all over Europe. The single went double platinum in the United States and Silver in France (125,000 copies sold) all in 1992.

At the time of this release, Kris Kross members Mac Daddy and Daddy Mac were only 12 and 13 years old. Jump was the fasting selling single in fifteen years and the two rose instantly to be among the ranks of child stars in the entertainment industry.

The critical reception for the album was much better than one would expect for a rap album by two children. Publications praised Jermaine Dupri for his creation and Kriss Kross for their iconic swagger and style. They received high ratings from a plethora of magazines and media outlets with little negative feedback.  The success of this album landed the duo a spot opening on Michael Jackson’s 1992 European Dangerous World Tour and a cameo in Michael Jackson’s “Jam” music video.

After being spotted at the same Miami hotel last year, Migos rapper Quavo and Chloe Bailey have been rumored to be an item, but Bailey refuted the speculation while speaking to Latto on her new Apple “777 Radio” podcast.

Latto asked Chlöe, “The tea was that you was talking to Quavo,” and Chlöe replied, “Uh oh, well, we’re doing a movie together.” Chlöe is referring to the Praise This movie, which just released a promo trailer.

Latto was persistent with her questioning, asking if their relationship was strictly business to which Bailey replied, ,“Yes, working. He’s a really nice guy. Yeah, he’s nice… I like his locs.”

See interview clip below.

Chloe just recently revealed in an interview with Big Boy that she still is in contact with Gunna, who was released from Fulton County Jail after taking an Alford Plea in the YSL RICO case.

U.S. Capitol Insurrection’s “Qanon Shaman” Released 14 Months Early From Prison

Screen Shot 2023 03 30 at 10.55.51 PM

Several news reports have confirmed that Jacob Chansely aka the “Qanon Shaman”, the man who was sentenced in 2021 to 41 months in prison was released more than a year early to a halfway house to complete his sentence.

The 35-year-old aspiring actor was moved to a “residential re-entry management” facility in Phoenix and is expected to be released from custody on May 25.

Chansley, who received the longest jail term of any of the Jan. 6 U.S. Capitol rioters, was convicted of a single count of felony obstruction of justice. He was one of nearly 1,000 people who were charged in the 6 January 2021 riot. Supporters of the riot stormed the Capitol as lawmakers certified President Joe Biden’s election win in 2020.

Chansley’s lawyer Albert Watkins said in a statement that the early release of his client was “appropriate” and he should be “permitted to move forward with the next stage of what undoubtedly will be a law-abiding and enriching life”.

He recently re-emerged in the national spotlight after Fox News host Tucker Carlson argued the riot was mostly peaceful, airing footage of the self-styled QAnon Shaman wandering the halls of Congress with police officers either escorting him, or making no attempt to bar his way.

His alias was a reference to a baseless conspiracy theory whose adherents believe former President Donald Trump was waging a secret war against elite Satan-worshipping paedophiles.
