Kid Cudi has made a pre-save announcement for Entergalactic, one of the most eager projects of 2022 and his long-awaited tenth full-length album. Additionally, Cudi and NETFLIX unveiled the project’s official trailer. On September 30th, both the show and the album will be released.
“Entergalactic is everything I’ve always wanted to do, create a long-form visual companion to an album,” Cudi said. “It all started with the music which helped bring this storyline and these characters to life. Entergalactic is unlike anything I’ve ever done, certainly my most ambitious project to date; I can’t wait for you to finally experience it.”

Through their respective production firms, Mad Solar and Khalabo Ink Society, Cudi and Kenya Barris both serve as executive producers on the movie Entergalactic.
At the end of the month, Kid Cudi will be dropping both his long-waited Entergalactic animated series, as well as an eponymous album of the music that accompanies the show. The Netflix series features Cudi (billed by his legal name, Scott Mescudi), along with Jessica Williams, Timothée Chalemet, Vanessa Hudgens, Ty Dolla Sign, and Laura Harrier. Created by Cudi, the “Man On The Moon” rapper has called it, “The greatest piece of art Ive ever made,” and now the newly-released expanded trailer gives us a closer look at exactly why he believes this.
Cudi voices the main character, Jabari, a BMX-riding, city dwelling dreamer and romantic who meets a gal in the city (Meadow, voiced by Williams) and they navigate the wavelengths of newfound love together surrounded by colorful supporting characters. The series is directed by Blackish creator Kenya Barris and is coming to Netflix on September 30th — the same day that the album drops. Other artists involved in the project in some way, shape or form include 070 Shake, Jaden Smith, Teyana Taylor, and more.

Kid Cudi’s been promoting his cross-media projectEntergalactic for some time now. First announced in 2019, the title applies to both a Netflix animated series and an album that will accompany it. While he released the first single from the album, “Do What I Want,” a week ago, the trailer for the series dropped a few days before. Meanwhile, in all that, we still had no idea when either was actually coming out. But now we do.
Cudi announced the shared release date, September 30, with a tweet featuring a short clip showing off the series’ unique animation style, as his character lights up a joint and blows a cloud of smoke into the air in the shape of the project’s title. The clip also plays a snippet of one of the songs that will presumably appear on the album.
Kid Cudi is ready to bring the world of Entergalactic to his fans this year. Just a day after Cudi announced the first single from his upcoming Entergalactic album, he returned today to share the first trailer from its accompanying Netflix animated series. It features Cudi’s character, Jabari, who is described as a “charming, creative visionary,” according to Consequence. Jabari is best friends with Jimmy, a weed dealer turned crypto bro, who is played by Timothée Chalamet. Elsewhere, Jessica Williams will star as Meadow, an up-and-coming photographer that is also Jabari’s neighbor and love interest. Macaulay Culkin plays Downtown Pat, a “downtown legend and life-long, city-wide delinquent.”
There will also be a decent list of musicians involved in the show. Ty Dolla $ign, 070 Shake, Jaden Smith, and Teyana Taylor are also confirmed as stars for Entergalactic while other actors like Laura Harrier, Vanessa Hudgens, Christopher Abbott, Keith David, and Arturo Castro will also make appearances. Entergalactic is co-executive produced and co-written by Black-ish creator Kenya Barris and Ian Edelman (How To Make It In America)
According to a synopsis from Netflix, Entergalactic is “an original, animated story about a young artist named Jabari as he attempts to balance love and success.” It continues, “Finding the latter brings Jabari a step closer to the former, when moving into his dream apartment introduces him to his new neighbor, photographer it-girl, Meadow. An explosion of art, music, and fashion, Entergalactic takes place in the only city that can handle all three: New York.”

For the better part of three years, Kid Cudi has been teasing the release of Entergalactic, a multimedia project set to accompany the rollout of his next album. Back in 2019, Cudi revealed that he was working on an animated Netflix series that was based on the concept, but since then, he’d been pretty tight-lipped about the project. At the end of 2020, he instead released his seventh album Man On The Moon III: The Chosen, but at the top of this year, he returned to teasing Entergalactic. At long last, it appears that the project will arrive sooner than later as Cudi announced the title and release date for its lead single.

In the meantime, the Man On The Moon has plenty of other artistic endeavors coming out soon. In March, he’ll star alongside Brittany Snow, Jenna Ortega, and Mia Goth in the A24 horror-comedy X.
Kid Cudi has been in a cinematic place lately: He’s fresh off a role in the Netflix movie Don’t Look Up and last month, he shared a documentary called A Man Named Scott. It looks like next year is going to be all about the music, though. He has been teasing an album called Entergalactic for some time now and plans to drop it next summer, and ahead of that, he wants to drop another new project.
During his set at the Rolling Loud festival yesterday, he told his audience, “I’m teasing all this stuff because as you know, I have Entergalactic coming in the summer, but I wanna drop another album before that. I got some tasty surprises and I really am excited about all this new sh*t, this new music to give to you guys. So that’s why I’m teasing this sh*t now, because it’s coming out soon. So tonight, record this sh*t.”
As for the teasing Cudi was referring to, during the set, he performed a new song called “Freshie.”
Cudi fans have been able to enjoy new music from the rapper in recent days, as he and Ariana Grande teamed up for a song from Don’t Look Up, “Just Look Up.”
